Bonsecours Market (French: Marché Bonsecours), at 350 rue Saint-Paul in Old Montreal, is a two-story domed public market. For more than 100 years, it was the main public market in the Montreal area. It also briefly accommodated the Parliament of United Canada for one session in 1849.
Named for the adjacent Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel, it opened in 1847. During 1849 the building was used for the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada. The market's design was influenced by Dublin's Customs House.
Construction of this Palladian style building began in 1844 and was designed by British architect William Footner, and alterations completed in 1860 by Irish-born Montreal architect George Browne (1811–1885). Bonsecours Market also housed Montreal City Hall between 1852 and 1878. The former city hall chambers is now a 3700-square-meter meeting room.
The market was also a venue for banquets, exhibitions and other festivals. Browne was charged with adding a 900-square-meter concert hall and banquet hall.
Bonsecours is a commune in the Seine-Maritime department in the Haute-Normandie region in northern France.
A southern residential suburb of Rouen situated at the junction of the D6014, D6105 and the D95 roads. A little light industry takes place by the banks of the river Seine, the commune’s westerly border.
Old Montreal (French: Vieux-Montréal) is the oldest area in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with few remains dating back to New France. Located in the borough of Ville-Marie, the area is bordered on the west by McGill St., on the north by Ruelle des Fortifications, on the east by Rue Saint Andre and on the south by the Saint Lawrence River. Following recent amendments, the district has been expanded slightly to include the rue des Soeurs Grises in the west, Saint Antoine St. in the north and Saint Hubert Street in the east. It also includes the Old Port of Montreal. Most of Old Montreal was declared an historic district in 1964 by the Ministère des Affaires culturelles du Québec.
In 1605 Samuel de Champlain set up a fur-trading post at Place Royale, at the confluence of the Saint Lawrence River and the long-vanished Petite Rivière St-Pierre, adjacent to present-day Place D'Youville and the Pointe-à-Callière Museum. However, the local Iroquois successfully defended their land and the French abandoned their post.

From August 12 to 14, 2009 we spent three days in Montreal, primarily to watch the Rogers Cup, one of the premier events on the ATP Tour. Given that we are ardent tennis fans and have been attending the Rogers Cup in Toronto for many years, we decided to expand our tennis horizons and travel to Montreal this year. We had a chance to see the world elite of mens tennis players competing in Montreals Uniprix Stadium which is located in Jarry Park. We spent two days at the stadium with our matinee tickets and saw all top 10 tennis players either compete or warm up on one of the side courts. Competitors included world number 1 Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray, Andy Roddick and many more. Attending a tennis tournament mid week is great because you see so much action, both in the main...

July , 2006 -- Canada Day celebrations in Montreal: The festivities were unbelievable. I got an early start and explored Vieux Montreal before I participated in the Official Montreal bicycle tour where a certified tourist guide took our entire group through various neighbourhoods of Montreal. Bruno introduced us to the major sights as well as to the beautiful and unique living areas of this diverse city. As an avid bicyclist I was delighted when I was able to keep the bike after our tour finished and I continued on my own on the extensive bicycle trail network along the Lachine Canal. I enjoyed a re-energizing lunch at the historic Marché Atwater and had a nice chat with a local. After I returned my bike I sat down and talked with the owner of the Ça Roule bicycle shop about his business a...
