Little Mountain may mean:
Rickie Lee "Ricky" Skaggs (born July 18, 1954) is an American country and bluegrass singer, musician, producer, and composer. He primarily plays mandolin; however, he also plays fiddle, guitar, mandocaster and banjo.
Skaggs was born in Cordell, Kentucky. He started playing music at age 5 after he was given a mandolin by his father, Hobert. At age 6, he played mandolin and sang on stage with Bill Monroe. At age 7, he appeared on television's Martha White country music variety show, playing with Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. He also wanted to audition for the Grand Ole Opry at that time, but was told he was too young.
In his mid-teens, Skaggs met a fellow teen guitarist, Keith Whitley, and the two started playing together with Whitley's banjoist brother Dwight on radio shows. By 1970, they had earned a spot opening for Ralph Stanley and Skaggs and Keith Whitley were thereafter invited to join Stanley's band, the Clinch Mountain Boys
Skaggs later joined The Country Gentlemen in Washington, DC, J. D. Crowe's New South. In 1976, Skaggs formed progressive bluegrass band Boone Creek, including members Vince Gill and Jerry Douglas. For a few years, Skaggs was a member of Emmylou Harris's Hot Band. He wrote the arrangements for Harris's 1980 bluegrass-roots album, Roses in the Snow. In addition to arranging for Harris, Skaggs sang harmony and played mandolin and fiddle in the Hot Band.

Little is a surname in the English language. The name is ultimately derived from the Middle English littel, and the Old English lȳtel, which mean "little". In some cases the name was originally a nickname for a little man. In other cases, the name was used to distinguish the younger of two bearers of the same personal name. Early records of the name include: Litle, in 972; Litle, in about 1095; and le Lytle, in 1296. The surname has absorbed several non English-language surnames. For example, Little is sometimes a translation of the Irish Ó Beagáin, meaning "descendant of Beagán". Little can also be a translation of the French Petit and Lepetit, as well as other surnames in various languages with the same meaning ("little"), especially the German name Klein during World War II.
A mountain is a large landform that stretches above the surrounding land in a limited area, usually in the form of a peak. A mountain is generally steeper than a hill. Mountains are formed through tectonic forces or volcanism. These forces can locally raise the surface of the earth. Mountains erode slowly through the action of rivers, weather conditions, and glaciers. A few mountains are isolated summits, but most occur in huge mountain ranges.
High elevations on mountains produce colder climates than at sea level. These colder climates strongly affect the ecosystems of mountains: different elevations have different plants and animals. Because of the less hospitable terrain and climate, mountains tend to be used less for agriculture and more for resource extraction and recreation, such as mountain climbing.
The highest mountain on Earth is Mount Everest in the Himalayas of Asia, whose summit is 8,850 m (29,035 ft) above mean sea level. The highest known mountain on any planet in the Solar System is Olympus Mons on Mars at 21,171 m (69,459 ft).

Filmed and edited by the monks themselves, From the Little Mountain takes you through a year at the hermitage of the Holy Cross in West Virginia. Herein is portrayed some of the beauty and struggle of monastic life using quotes from the Scriptures and the Holy Fathers of the Orthodox Church. Insights about monastic life from one of the senior monks at the monastery are given as you are visually taken through the Church liturgical year and the changing seasons in the mountains. This is a unique documentary of an Orthodox monastery in the 21st century, but the imagery and principles set forth are as ancient (and relevant) as those written by the 6th century instructor of monks, Abba Dorotheos. Wow, I just went back and listened to my old "Will The Circle Be Unbroken" CDs, volumes 1 and 2, going back nearly 40 years. What fantastic stuff! What a collection of talent! Here's a video I made for Ricky Skaggs and Nitty Gritty Dirt Band members Jeff Hanna, Jimmy Ibbotson and Bob Carpenter singing "Little Mountain Church House", from volume 2. Look at these musicians! Lead vocal & guitar: Ricky Skaggs Harmony vocal: Jeff Hanna Harmony vocal: Jimmy Ibbotson Harmony vocal & accordion: Bob Carpenter Drums: Jimmie Fadden (another NGDB member) Piano: Buck White Banjo: Bela Fleck Guitar: Randy Scruggs (you know his father) Mandolin: Mark O'Connor (sorry, no fiddle in this one, so he gets the mandolin) Dobro: Jerry Douglas (who else?) Upright bass: Roy Huskey, Jr. (RIP)
Karen Lynne is a bluegrass singer/songwriter from Australia. She is awesome. She recently recorded a gospel bluegrass album called "Shine Your Light" (see Matthew 5:16), which I don't believe has been released yet, but she was kind enough to send me a preview copy. I was hooked by the very first song, "Little Mountain Church House", written by Carl Jackson and Jim Rushing. Very touching lyrics. What imagery. Yeah, I know, I already created a video for this song as recorded by Ricky Skaggs. There are no rules here (well, that's not true, there are lots of rules, but not one that applies to this situation), I can cheat and make another video with the same pictures and different music. Anyway, thank you Karen, this is a wonderful rendition. And the musicians are fantastic, too.

With the dawn we rose aloud Stretched and yawned What's left, surveyed around The humble sound Searched all of our minds alike For the faintest cloud South bound, satisfied With what we'd found
After all the causes we get behind We can still find us a common ground
Cast down, to the living depths Unnanounced What rises up again? No one knows What chain do we sit atop And watch unfold Each anchor that we set A different home
In between all the causes we get behind We can still find us a common ground
We are lucky and we know it We clap our hands to show it
With the focus on always moving up And moving on We can't rest till we've driven off And our hearts become Second best, and left behind With the weakest pump What's down, but a safety net And the softest ground
In between all the causes we get behind We can still find us a common ground
We are lucky and we know it We clap our hands to show it
