Casa Loma, the Hill House, is the quaintest building in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Sir Henry Pellatt, a rich eccentric industrialist and financier, built the palace built from 1911 to 1914. It has nearly 100 rooms, of which the entrance hall, the ballroom and the conservatory are the most impressive. The interior decor is made of the finest and most expensive materials available at that time. The house is connected with the stables by a 244 m long underground passage. The towers provide a magnificent view over the city. A castle after the taste of king Ludwig II of Bavaria.
Lady Mary Pellatt founded the first Girl Guides in Canada. As the Chief Commissioner of the Dominion of Canada Girl Guides, she invited regularly groups with up to 250 girls into her home.
Due to financial difficulties, Sir Henry Pellatt sold Casa Loma in 1923. In 1933 it fell to the town and was turned to a museum.
Among others, Casa Loma was location for movies like The Pacifier, X Men, Chicago or The Tuxedo.

From 1997 until 2012 the castle underwent a 15-year, $33-million exterior restoration largely funded by the city, which also created a new board of trustees including seven KCCL members and seven city appointees in 2008.[5] The city's renewed management agreement included a stipulation that KCCL would use the castle's net revenues to help pay for upgrades; however, the organization used the fund to cover operating shortfalls instead, and there was only $335,000 in the account by 2011, rather than the $1.5-million originally projected. As a result, in 2011 the city temporarily resumed management of Casa Loma, and began welcoming bids from the private sector in its search for a new operator.
In January 2014 the city entered a new long-term lease and operating agreement with Liberty Entertainment Group, led by President and CEO Nick Di Donato, which agreed to spend $7.4 million to continue the castle's restoration, installing air conditioning, enhancing the special events and dining experience and integrating new technology for school and cultural programming. The company's plans also include a fine dining facility.

Things to do in Colombia: GO TO MINCA!
Minca is a little town in the north of Colombia. Close to the Caribbean coast and Tayrona national Park
From the city of Santa Marta you can get to Minca easily. Take a taxi or a collectivo (from Santa Marta market square) and drive through the Colombian hills for 30 or 40 minutes.
The first hostel in the video is Casa Loma: A quiet place in nature where you can chill. Try your yoga-skills, go birdwatching or just enjoy the sunset with a cold beer.
The second hostel (the one with the big nets to chill in) is Casa Elemento: Here you have amazing views but don't expect peace and tranquility all the time, because the hostel is more of a party hostel.
In between these hostels you can find Pozo Azul, a nice place to cool down from the heat. There's a small waterfall and you can swim in the fresh water.
Getting around: The easiest way is to take a mototaxi. The drivers can be found in Minca at the junction. They usually hang out all together and will drive you to Pozo Azul or Casa Elemento.
Since the region around Minca is so beautiful, you can decide to walk around instead. Hiking is a good way to explore the area. But beware, the hills can be pretty steep for a long time and if locals say "you will be there in one hour", you will definitely not get even close in one hour.

Casa Loma
Casa Loma (Spanish for Hill House) is a Gothic Revival style house and gardens in midtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that is now a museum and landmark. It was originally a residence for financier Sir Henry Mill Pellatt. Casa Loma was constructed from 1911 to 1914. The architect was E. J. Lennox, who several other city landmarks. Casa Loma sits at an altitude of 140 m.
History
In 1903, financier Henry Pellatt purchased 25 lots from developers Kertland and Rolf. Pellatt commissioned architect E. J. Lennox to design Casa Loma with construction beginning in 1911, starting with the massive stables, potting shed and Hunting Lodge (a.k.a. coach-house) a few hundred feet north of the main building. The Hunting Lodge is a two-storey 4,380-square-foot (407 m2) house with servants' quarters. As soon as the stable complex was completed, Sir Henry sold his summer house in Scarborough to his son and moved to the Hunting Lodge. The stables were used as a construction site for the castle (and also served as the quarters for the male servants), with some of the machinery still remaining in the rooms under the stables.

X Company (TV series)
X Company is a Canadian/Hungarian spy thriller television series created by Flashpoint's Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern which premiered on February 18, 2015, on CBC Television. The series takes place during World War II, and follows five recruits as they are trained as secret agents at a Canadian training facility near Lake Ontario and then sent out into the field. On March 4, 2015, CBC renewed the series for a second season with ten episodes, two more than the first season of eight.

X Company had been an idea being considered for over a dozen years by creators Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern. They made a short film entitled Remembrance which did well enough on the festival circuit to encourage them to develop a feature script which eventually became X Company. Originally titled Camp X, the series was filmed in Budapest, Hungary, from August to October 2014, and is a Canadian-Hungarian co-production. X Company is inspired by the real spy training facility, Camp X, which was located between Whitby and Oshawa, Ontario, Canada.

Henry Pellatt
Major-General Sir Henry Mill Pellatt, CVO (January 6, 1859 – March 8, 1939) was a Canadian financier and soldier.
He is notable for his role in bringing hydro-electricity to Toronto, Ontario, for the first time, and also for his large château in Toronto, called Casa Loma, which was the biggest private residence ever constructed in Canada. Casa Loma would eventually become a well-known landmark of the city. His summer home and farm in King City later became Mary Lake Augustinian Monastery.
Pellatt was also a noted supporter of the Boy Scouts of Canada. His first wife, Mary, was the first Chief Commissioner of the Girl Guides of Canada.
Early life and family
Pellatt was born in Kingston, Canada West (now Ontario), the son of Henry Pellatt (1830-1909), a Glasgow-born stockbroker in Toronto, and Emma Mary Pellatt (née Holland). He was related to the famous glassmaker Apsley Pellatt (1763–1826).
Pellatt had three sisters and two brothers, Fred Pellatt (grandfather of Toronto-based freelance writer John Pellatt) and Mill Pellatt (father of Mary Katherine Pellatt). The latter brother was paymaster of the Toronto Electric Light Company, a job obtained for him by Pellatt. His sisters were Mary Kate, Marian Maria and Emily Mountford Pellatt. One of his nieces, Beatrix Hamilton, was married to Canadian economist and humourist Stephen Leacock.

Minca is a little town in the north of Colombia. Close to the Caribbean coast and Tayrona national Park
From the city of Santa Marta you can get to Minca easily. Take a taxi or a collectivo (from Santa Marta market square) and drive through the Colombian hills for 30 or 40 minutes.
The first hostel in the video is Casa Loma: A quiet place in nature where you can chill. Try your yoga-skills, go birdwatching or just enjoy the sunset with a cold beer.
The second hostel (the one with the big nets to chill in) is Casa Elemento: Here you have amazing views but don't expect peace and tranquility all the time, because the hostel is more of a party hostel.
In between these hostels you can find Pozo Azul, a nice place to cool down from the heat. There's a small waterfall and you can swim in the fresh water.
Getting around: The easiest way is to take a mototaxi. The drivers can be found in Minca at the junction. They usually hang out all together and will drive you to Pozo Azul or Casa Elemento.
Since the region around Minca is so beautiful, you can decide to walk around instead. Hiking is a good way to explore the area. But beware, the hills can be pretty steep for a long time and if locals say "you will be there in one hour", you will definitely not get even close in one hour.

The 7 storied Castle with 98 rooms in total has many interesting interior facets as well as hunting lodge and a huge dining, Blue blood stake house, several expensive antiques collected by Pellatt himself and a special room which was used for spy technology operation.
Despite being enjoying an extraordinarily beautiful and architecturally stunning for less than ten years, Henry Pellatt had to surrender the house to the City Government selling the entire valuables he had inside the castle.

The towers provide a magnificent view over the city. A castle after the taste of king Ludwig II of Bavaria.
Lady Mary Pellatt founded the first Girl Guides in Canada. As the Chief Commissioner of the Dominion of Canada Girl Guides, she invited regularly groups with up to 250 girls into her home.
Due to financial difficulties, Sir Henry Pellatt sold Casa Loma in 1923. In 1933 it fell to the town and was turned to a museum.
Among others, Casa Loma was location for movies like The Pacifier, X Men, Chicago or The Tuxedo.

As a result, in 2011 the city temporarily resumed management of Casa Loma, and began welcoming bids from the private sector in its search for a new operator.
In January 2014 the city entered a new long-term lease and operating agreement with Liberty Entertainment Group, led by President and CEO Nick Di Donato, which agreed to spend $7.4 million to continue the castle's restoration, installing air conditioning, enhancing the special events and dining experience and integrating new technology for school and cultural programming. The company's plans also include a fine dining facility.

From the city of Santa Marta you can get to Minca easily. Take a taxi or a collectivo (from Santa Marta market square) and drive through the Colombian hills for 30 or 40 minutes.
The first hostel in the video is Casa Loma: A quiet place in nature where you can chill. Try your yoga-skills, go birdwatching or just enjoy the sunset with a cold beer.
The second hostel (the one with the big nets to chill in) is Casa Elemento: Here you have amazing views but don't expect peace and tranquility all the time, because the hostel is more of a party hostel.
In between these hostels you can find Pozo Azul, a nice place to cool down from the heat. There's a small waterfall and you can swim in the fresh water.
Getting around: The easiest way is to take a mototaxi. The drivers can be found in Minca at the junction. They usually hang out all together and will drive you to Pozo Azul or Casa Elemento.
Since the region around Minca is so beautiful, you can decide to walk around instead. Hiking is a good way to explore the area. But beware, the hills can be pretty steep for a long time and if locals say "you will be there in one hour", you will definitely not get even close in one hour.

Lil Tour of Casa Loma
Say hello to Casa Loma! North America's only full sized castle located in Toronto, Ontario. In 1911, Sir Henry Pellatt worked with noted architect E.J. Lennox to help him realize a lifelong dream - the creation of his Edwardian castle atop a hill overlooking Toronto. It took nearly 300 men almost three years to complete the nearly 200,000 square foot caste at a cost of $3,500,000 (at that time!). Situated on 5 acres, Casa Loma was the largest private residence in Canada. In 1911, Sir Henry Pellatt worked with noted architect E.J. Lennox to help him realize a lifelong dream - the creation of his Edwardian castle atop a hill overlooking Toronto. It took nearly 300 men almost three years to complete the nearly 200,000 square foot caste at a cost of $3,500,000 (at that time!). Situated on 5 acres, Casa Loma was the largest private residence in Canada.
Sir Henry and his wife, Lady Mary, enjoyed Casa Loma for less than 10 years before financial misfortune forced him to abandon his home.
