The Zagros Mountains (Persian: رشته كوه زاگرس, Kurdish: زنجیرهچیاکانی زاگرۆس; Çiyayên Zagrosê, Lurish: کو یه لی زاگروس, Arabic: جبال زغروس Aramaic: ܛܘܪ ܙܪܓܣ,) form the largest mountain range in Iran, Iraq and Eastern Turkey. This mountain range has a total length of 1,500 km (932 mi). The Zagros mountain range begins in northwestern Iran and roughly corresponds to Iran's western border, and it spans the whole length of the western and southwestern Iranian plateau, ending at the Strait of Hormuz. The highest point in the Zagros Mountains is Dena. These mountains are regarded as sacred by the Kurds.
The Zagros fold and thrust belt was formed by collision of two tectonic plates — the Iranian Plate and the Arabian Plate. This collision primarily happened during the Miocene and folded the entire rocks that had been deposited from the Carboniferous to the Miocene in the geosyncline in front of the Iranian Plate. The process of collision continues to the present and as the Arabian Plate is being pushed against the Iranian Plate, the Zagros Mountains and the Iranian Plateau are getting higher and higher. Recent GPS measurements in Iran have shown that this collision is still active and the resulting deformation is distributed non-uniformly in the country, mainly taken up in the major mountain belts like Alborz and Zagros. A relatively dense GPS network which covered the Zagros in the Iranian part also proves a high rate of deformation within the Zagros. The GPS results show that the current rate of shortening in SE Zagros is ~10 mm/yr and ~5mm/yr in the NW Zagros. The NS strike-slip Kazerun fault divides the Zagros into two distinct zones of deformation. The GPS results also show different shortening directions along the belt, i.e. normal shortening in the South-East and oblique shortening in the NW Zagros.
Sarpol-e Zahab (Persian: سرپل ذهاب; Kurdish: Serpêllî Zehaw, سەرپێڵی زەهاو; also Romanized as Sarpol-e Z̄ahāb, Sar-e Pol-e Z̄ahāb, and Sar-ī-Pūl Zūhāb; also known as Pol-e Z̄ahāb, Pol-e Z̄ohāb, Sarī-Pūl, and Sarpol) is a city in and the capital of Sarpol-e Zahab County, Kermanshah Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 34,632, in 8,210 families.
There are several rock reliefs from the Lullubian period in Sarpol-e Zahab. The village is also identified as the site of the ancient and medieval town of Hulwan.
The population of Sarpol-e Zahab comprises Kurds who speak Kalhori, Gorani, and Sorani (Jaf) dialects of Kurdish, and are respectively adherents of Shia Islam, and Yarsanism .
A mountain is a large landform that stretches above the surrounding land in a limited area, usually in the form of a peak. A mountain is generally steeper than a hill. Mountains are formed through tectonic forces or volcanism. These forces can locally raise the surface of the earth. Mountains erode slowly through the action of rivers, weather conditions, and glaciers. A few mountains are isolated summits, but most occur in huge mountain ranges.
High elevations on mountains produce colder climates than at sea level. These colder climates strongly affect the ecosystems of mountains: different elevations have different plants and animals. Because of the less hospitable terrain and climate, mountains tend to be used less for agriculture and more for resource extraction and recreation, such as mountain climbing.
The highest mountain on Earth is Mount Everest in the Himalayas of Asia, whose summit is 8,850 m (29,035 ft) above mean sea level. The highest known mountain on any planet in the Solar System is Olympus Mons on Mars at 21,171 m (69,459 ft).
Kurdistan /ˌkɜːrdɪˈstɑːn/ (Kurdish: [ˌkurdɪˈstan]; "Homeland of the Kurds or Land of the Kurds"; also formerly spelled Curdistan; ancient name: Corduene) or Greater Kurdistan, is a roughly defined geo-cultural region wherein the Kurdish people form a prominent majority population, and Kurdish culture, language, and national identity have historically been based. Kurdistan roughly encompasses the northwestern Zagros and the eastern Taurus mountain ranges.
Contemporary use of the term refers to four parts of a greater Kurdistan, which include parts of eastern and southeastern Turkey (Northern Kurdistan), northern Syria (Western Kurdistan), northern Iraq (Southern Kurdistan), and northwestern Iran (Eastern Kurdistan). Some Kurdish nationalist organizations seek to create an independent nation state of Kurdistan, consisting of some or all of the areas with Kurdish majority, while others campaign for greater Kurdish autonomy within the existing national boundaries.
Iraqi Kurdistan first gained autonomous status in a 1970 agreement with the Iraqi government, and its status was re-confirmed as an autonomous entity within the federal Iraqi republic in 2005. There is a province by the name Kurdistan in Iran; it is not self-ruled. Kurds fighting in the Syrian Civil War were able to take control of large sections of northern Syria as forces loyal to Bashar al-Assad withdrew to fight elsewhere. Having established their own government, some Kurds called for autonomy in a democratic Syria; others hoped to establish an independent Kurdistan.

Sheep and wheat -- two basic foods of the modern Kurdistan -- were tamed first. Most experts believe that sheeps were man's first controlled source of food and that their domestication was an outgrowth of systematic hunting. At intervals, men and boys would string out in lines, shouting and waving their arms to drive wild sheep into narrow places in the hills where they could be called easily. The next step was to pen captured animals in a steep ravine with a fence across its mouth. For thousand years or two, such sheep-keeping was a hit-or-miss thing, and most of the captive sheep were eaten when winter came on. Eventually, presumably during especially mild winters, a few sheep were kept alive until spring, grazing when there was grass, fed with stored hay when there was not. In this way ...
Kurdish dance culture (Kurdish: Govend, Dilan / Hilperkê ) is a group of traditional hand-holding dances from the Kurdistan. It is a form of round dancing, with a single or a couple of figure dancers often added to the geometrical centre of the dancing circle. The Kurds sing and dance in all of their festivals, birthdays, New Years, Newroz, marriage and other ceremonies. Kurdish dances reflect samples of Kurdish life over the past thousands of years. Rhythmic and elegant movements (originating from historical record, geographical location, the Kurdish way of living, beliefs, work and struggle, war and quarrel), are called Halparke (or Helperkê/Hilperkê in Kurdish alphabet). Halparke has got its special place in Kurd's culture in a way that knowing about that needs the deep and valid sli...

Iran is opening its doors to foreigners and a train ride from the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea is a great way to get to know the country and its people. Evidence of the first winemaking of the world discovered in the Zagros mountains by archaeologists. A series of excavations in Georgia has uncovered evidence of the world's first winemaking, in the form of revealing traces within clay pottery dating back to 6,000BC, suggesting that the practice of making grape wine began hundreds of years earlier of what was believed. While there are thousands of wine cultivars worldwide, almost all are derived from a single species of grape, with the Eurasian grape the only domesticated species. So far, the oldest bottles known to contain wine date back 7,000 years, with six vessels containing the chemical cards of the beverage discovered in the Zagros Mountains in northern Iran in 1968. The latest finding reverses the evidence Initial drink up to half a...

I keep making this super hard then nerfing them, the first wave part is the only part I nerfed on this one. I could've kept it harder since I never died on the last wave, but don't want to update. ID 37645334
Took ~1100 attempts first time (including practicing before nerfing it) and just the attempts shown, so 134 to rebeat it since I was not recording first time. This is a kinda fun timing challenge. I know it has been 2 weeks since I uploaded, school has started for me, including college classes, and I have not had time to play very much GD. I might upload more soon, but not more than 1 or 2 videos a week.

Archaeologist David Rohl claims to have found the site described in Genesis as "Eden" in a lush valley beneath an extinct volcano in northern Iran. The Jerusalem Report (February 1, 1999) broke the story in the article -- "Paradise Found." Ten miles from the sprawling Iranian industrial city of Tabriz, to the northwest of Teheran, says British archaeologist David Rohl, he has found the site of the Biblical garden . . . "As you descend a narrow mountain path, you see a beautiful alpine valley, just like the Bible describes it, with terraced orchards on its slopes, crowded with every kind of fruit-laden tree," says Rohl, a scholar of University College, London, The Biblical word gan (as in Gan Eden) means `walled garden,' " Rohl continues, "and the valley is indeed walled in by towering mou...
