[New Jack Swing/Funk/Soul/RnB/R&B;] Here is RnB/Swing artist Marc Nelson with his first album titled: "I Want You". A must listen for fans of New Jack Swing music as it is kind of obscure and fell quite under the radar. I feel somewhat bad for the career path Nelson has made because this album proves that he is right up there with R. Kelly and/or Aaron Hall. Marc K. Nelson is an american singer, producer, and songwriter. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Nelson is the son of Phyllis Nelson, best-known for her dance hit "I Like You" in 1985. He was one of the original members of Boyz II Men while still a student at Philadelphia's renowned High School of Performing Arts. After getting a solo deal with Capitol for this album, Nelson found a hit with his cover of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You" (Track 1) and the follow-up "Count On Me" (Track 4) also charted pretty high. This album was issued in September 1991, though afterwards, Nelson concentrated on developing his craft as a songwriter. After superstar writer/producer/artist Babyface heard about his talents with this excellent album, Nelson found himself knee-deep in outside projects; thus he has written songs for all the heavy hitters of the late 90's R&B; craze such as Toni Braxton, Brandy, Jon B, Tyrese, Tamia, Keith Washington, Aaron Neville, and Babyface. Nelson also appeared on a duet with Beyonce Knowles (Beyonce) for the movie soundtrack to "The Best Man" in 1999. After that he released two more albums and that is pretty much about it. I assume he is doing something musically productive today though i can't seem to find anything. It's a shame, he is musically talented yet ended up writing for other people when he should have been the one fronting. This album was released under Capitol Records and Orpheus Productions '91.
