    With housing costs at an all-time high in the US, the issue of federal assistance is increasingly relevant for middle- and low-income families. However, they won't find it in the proposed new GOP tax bill, which only offers housing-related tax cuts for the wealthy in the form of mortgage interest deductions. Activists are pushing instead for progressive housing programs, such as a renter's tax credit at the state level.
