Bleeding, technically known as hemorrhaging or haemorrhaging (see American and British spelling differences), is blood escaping from the circulatory system. Bleeding can occur internally, where blood leaks from blood vessels inside the body, or externally, either through a natural opening such as the mouth, nose, ear, urethra, vagina or anus, or through a break in the skin. Hypovolemia is a massive decrease in blood volume, and death by excessive loss of blood is referred to as exsanguination. Typically, a healthy person can endure a loss of 10–15% of the total blood volume without serious medical difficulties (by comparison, blood donation typically takes 8–10% of the donor's blood volume). The stopping or controlling of bleeding is called hemostasis and is an important part of both first aid and surgery.
Hemorrhaging is broken down into four classes by the American College of Surgeons' advanced trauma life support (ATLS).
"Bleeding Love" is a song by British singer Leona Lewis, released from her debut studio album, Spirit (2007). Co-written by Jesse McCartney and Ryan Tedder, and produced by Tedder, the song is the album's lead single (Lewis's official second single following "A Moment Like This"). It was released in the United Kingdom and Ireland in October 2007. Debuting at number one on the UK Singles Chart, "Bleeding Love" became the best-selling single of 2007 in the United Kingdom. Since the single's release, it became a major international hit, and was the best-selling single of 2008 worldwide. The single has reached number one in 35 countries, including Ireland, Japan, Germany and the United States, making it only the second song in history to achieve this feat (after Elton John's "Candle in the Wind 1997"). The video first aired on 17 October 2007, and was uploaded to YouTube on the same day, on which it now has over 120 million views.
"Bleeding Love" has sold more than 1 million copies in the United Kingdom, and over 4 million digital downloads in the U.S., where it was the best selling digital song there in 2008. It was named the 17th most successful song in the US from 2000–2009, on the Billboard Hot 100 Songs of the Decade. The song achieved a similar feat in the United Kingdom where it was the best-selling single of 2007, selling 788,000 copies. "Bleeding Love" has charted on the UK Singles Chart in three different years: in 2007 it peaked at #1; 2008 at #76; and 2009 at #97. "Bleeding Love" was nominated for Record of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 51st Grammy Awards. At the 2008 Brit Awards it was nominated for Best British Single. It is Lewis's biggest hit in the US to date, is still her only single to reach the top ten of the Billboard Hot 100 and remains her most successful single worldwide.
Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is a British singer, songwriter and animal welfare campaigner. She was born and raised in the London Borough of Islington, London, England where she attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Lewis achieved national recognition when she won the third series of The X Factor in 2006, winning a £1 million recording contract with Simon Cowell's record label, Syco Music. Her winner's single, a cover of Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment Like This", peaked at number one for four weeks on the UK Singles Chart and it broke a world record for having 50,000 digital downloads within 30 minutes. In February 2007, Lewis signed a five-album contract in the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records.
Lewis's success continued with the release of her debut album, Spirit, in 2007; it went 10x platinum in the United Kingdom, while the lead single, "Bleeding Love", spent seven weeks at number-one. She achieved international recognition with the album in 2008, when she became the first British female solo artist to top the US Billboard 200 album chart in more than 20 years. Spirit has sold more than eight million copies worldwide, and "Bleeding Love" peaked at number one in over 30 countries, becoming the best-selling single of 2008. As a result, she was proclaimed 'Top New Artist' by Billboard in 2008. Under the guidance of Cowell and Davis, Lewis released her second UK number-one album Echo and recorded the theme song for the film Avatar in 2009, while embarking on her first UK arena tour, The Labyrinth, in 2010.

Exsanguination is the process of blood loss, to a degree sufficient to cause death. One does not have to lose all of one's blood to cause death. Depending upon the age, health, and fitness level of the individual, people can die from losing half or two-thirds of their blood; a loss of roughly one-third of the blood volume is considered very serious. Even a single deep cut can warrant suturing and hospitalization, especially if trauma, a vein or artery, or another comorbidity is involved. It is most commonly known as "bleeding to death" or colloquially as "bleeding out". The word itself originated from Latin: ex ("out of") and sanguis ("blood").
Exsanguination is used as a method of slaughter. Before the fatal incision is made, the animal may be rendered insensible to pain by various methods, including captive bolt, electricity or chemical. Without prior sedation, stunning or anesthetic, this method of slaughter is understood by some to cause a high degree of anxiety, although other studies contradict these findings. The captive bolt is placed against the skull of the animal, and penetrates to cause tissue destruction in the brain, incapacitating the animal so that the procedure may take place. Electricity is used mostly in porcine, poultry and domestic sheep, whereas chemical is used in injured livestock.

Just what am I supposed to say
When you rise up against me and it's clear I'm wrong
And I can see it's all my fault
It's just an everyday experience for me
Yet this one time I just can't seem
To just get over this memory of defeat
I'm bleeding, I'm seeing through black, swollen eyes
Why won't this air clear
Am I as guilty as I fear?
Is this shame justified?
Or will it leave tonight
How many days left to go
Until I hear the last from you
I pray it's soon.
I pray it's just a phase you're going through
I'm bleeding, I'm seeing through black, swollen eyes
But I deserve it
I've done the same to you before
And I've observed that I've just become to you a chore
And how I want you to stop being so mad at me
