Rain showers to turn into show showers Thursday
Get out your mittens.
It's about to get cold, which should be no surprise to Western New Yorkers in November. Still, meteorologists and area law enforcement are reminding the public that cold weather can make for tricky driving conditions.
Temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s Thursday and won't get higher than the upper 20s on Friday.
At the same time, rain showers are in the forecast. The rain is expected to turn to snow Thursday night, according to a "hazardous weather outlook" alert that the National Weather Service office issued this morning.
Snow squalls are also possible, which could cause poor visibility in some places. Only minimal snow accumulations are expected.
Also, a flash freeze is possible Thursday evening and overnight which means wet road surfaces could turn to black ice, particularly on elevated areas and bridges.
