Sir Elton Hercules John, CBE (born Reginald Kenneth Dwight; 25 March 1947) is an English singer, songwriter, and composer. He has worked with lyricist Bernie Taupin as his songwriting partner since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums to date. In his five-decade career Elton John has sold more than 300 million records, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world. He has more than fifty Top 40 hits, including seven consecutive No. 1 US albums, 58 Billboard Top 40 singles, 27 Top 10, four No. 2 and nine No. 1. For 31 consecutive years (1970–2000) he had at least one song in the Billboard Hot 100. His single "Candle in the Wind 1997" sold over 33 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling single in the history of the UK and US singles charts. He has also composed music, produced records, and has occasionally acted in films. John owned Watford Football Club from 1976 to 1987, and 1997 to 2002. He is an honorary Life President of the club, and in 2014 had a stand named after him at the club's home stadium.
Dame Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor, DBE (February 27, 1932 – March 23, 2011) was a British-American actress, businesswoman and humanitarian. She began as a child actress in the early 1940s, and was one of the most popular stars of classical Hollywood cinema in the 1950s. She continued her career successfully into the 1960s, and remained a well-known public figure for the rest of her life. The American Film Institute named her the seventh greatest female screen legend in 1999.
Born in London to American parents, Taylor and her family moved from England to Los Angeles in 1939. She was noted for her beauty already as a child, and was given a film contract by Universal Pictures in 1941. Her screen debut was in a minor role in There's One Born Every Minute (1942), but Universal terminated her contract after a year. Taylor was then signed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and had her breakthrough role in National Velvet (1944), becoming one of the studio's most popular teenage stars. She made the transition to adult roles in the early 1950s, when she starred in the comedy Father of the Bride (1950) and received critical acclaim for her performance in the tragic drama A Place in the Sun (1951).

The Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) is a nonprofit organization, established by rock musician Sir Elton John – in 1992 in the United States and 1993 in the United Kingdom – to support innovative HIV/AIDS prevention, education programs, direct care and support services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
It has raised over $200 million to support HIV/AIDS programs in fifty-five countries.
The organization supports its work through proceeds from special events, cause-related marketing projects, and voluntary contributions from individuals, corporations and foundations.
In 1993, the organization began hosting the annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Award Party.
The organization was inspired by John's young friend, Ryan White, a young AIDS sufferer infected by a blood transfusion, who died in 1990. White's personable and compassionate persona helped to achieve the tolerance and acceptance towards sufferers of the disease. The organization continues this effort.
Elizabeth Glaser (née Meyer; (1947-11-11)November 11, 1947 – December 3, 1994(1994-12-03)) was a major American AIDS activist and child advocate married to actor and director Paul Michael Glaser. She contracted HIV very early in the modern AIDS epidemic after receiving an HIV-contaminated blood transfusion in 1981 while giving birth. Like other HIV-infected mothers, Glaser unknowingly passed the virus to her infant daughter, Ariel, through breastfeeding. Ariel was born in 1981 and died in 1988. The Glasers' son, Jake, born in 1984, contracted HIV from his mother in utero, but has lived into adulthood. Glaser died in 1994.
The virus went undetected in all three infected family members until they underwent HIV testing in 1985, after the Glasers' daughter, Ariel, began suffering from a series of unexplained illnesses. Ariel had developed advanced AIDS at a time when the medical community knew very little about the disease and there were no available treatment options. She suffered some of the same ostracism from her school as made Ryan White famous. Early in 1987, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration finally approved AZT as an effective drug to extend the lives of AIDS patients, but the approval only extended to adults. With their daughter's condition rapidly deteriorating, the Glasers fought to have her treated with AZT intravenously. However, the treatment came too late, and the child eventually succumbed to the disease late in the summer of 1988.
Over several years, LSS has helped tell the story of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and its trailblazing advocacy and field work to ensure that no child is born with HIV and no child dies of AIDS. Mining through archival footage and filming at EGPAF-supported sites throughout sub-Saharan Africa, LSS has created multi-faceted content for EGPAF, including an identity piece, a thirty-year retrospective on pediatric AIDS, a programmatic overview of EGPAF’s successful global work through the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, a 25th anniversary tribute to the contributions of Hillary Rodham Clinton, and an animated advocacy piece on the need for better pediatric HIV treatment.

In honor of what would have been Elizabeth Taylor’s 85th birthday on February 27th, 2017, The Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation presents this short video to celebrate her legacy. The video reflects on one of the most unforgettable figures of the big screen, diving into Elizabeth Taylor’s unique and multifaceted fame, and the path that led her to become one of the most powerful activists of all time. The narration is by philanthropist, artist, and actress Miley Cyrus, a nod to their shared experiences growing up in the public eye. As child actresses, both women lived lives captured by headlines and chose to use their platforms to advocate fearlessly for the rights of the most marginalized. Elizabeth Taylor reminds us that our lives are shaped by our passion and courage to channel every oun...
