Much of what we know about St. Mark, the author of the Second Gospel, comes largely from the New Testament and early Christian traditions. Mark the Evangelist is believed to be the 'John Mark' referred to in the Acts of the Apostles.
He was the son of Mary of Jerusalem, whose home became a meeting place for the apostles. He is also the cousin of St. Barnabas, a Levite and a Cypriot.
Mark joined St. Paul and St. Barnabas on their first missionary journey to Antioch in 44 A.D. When the group reached Cyprus, Christian tradition holds that Mark left them and returned to Jerusalem, possibly because he was missing his home. This incident may have caused Paul to question whether Mark could be a reliable missionary.
However, it can be assumed the troubles between Paul and Mark did not last long, because when Paul was first imprisoned, Mark visited him as one of his trusted companions.
Mark also held a close relationship with St. Peter, who referred to Mark has 'his son.’
Mark may not have personally heard the Lord speak and was not one of the twelve apostles. However, some believe Mark was likely speaking of himself when he wrote the description of Jesus' arrest where he described a young man following Jesus.
St. Mark lived for years in Alexandria, where he died as a martyr from being dragged through the streets.
Mark's Gospel was probably written between 60 and 70 A.D., and was based upon the teachings of St. Peter. It is believed Mark provided both Luke and Matthew with basic sources for their Gospel's.
In 828, relics of St. Mark were stolen from Alexandria and taken to Venice, Italy. There they are enshrined in a beautiful cathedral dedicated to the saint.
St. Mark's symbol is a winged lion and he is often depicted as writing or holding his Gospel.
St. Mark is the patron saint of Venice. His feast day is celebrated on April 25.

Her parents and siblings may well be staying in their hometown of Bucklebury tonight as they prepare for the society wedding of the year tomorrow, but the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted driving through London on Friday afternoon. It is thought that Kate attended the rehearsals for sister Pippa's wedding at St Mark's Church before driving her Range Rover back to Kensington Palace this afternoon.
Kate's children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are acting as page boy and flower girl at the nuptials tomorrow, so the mother-of-two most likely had plenty to organise back in the city. It is unclear whether her husband, Prince William, or children were with her in the vehicle but the family-of-four will make an appearance together in Berkshire tomorrow.

Mark the Evangelist
Mark the Evangelist (Latin: Mārcus; Greek: Μᾶρκος; Coptic: Μαρκοϲ; Hebrew: מרקוס) is the traditionally ascribed author of the Gospel of Mark. Mark is said to have founded the Church of Alexandria, one of the most important episcopal sees of Early Christianity. His feast day is celebrated on April 25, and his symbol is the winged lion.
Mark's identity
According to William Lane (1974), an "unbroken tradition" identifies Mark the Evangelist with John Mark, and John Mark as the cousin of Barnabas. However, Hippolytus of Rome in On the Seventy Apostles distinguishes Mark the Evangelist (2 Tim 4:11), John Mark (Acts 12:12, 25; 13:5, 13; 15:37), and Mark the cousin of Barnabas (Col 4:10; Phlm 1:24). According to Hippolytus, they all belonged to the "Seventy Disciples" who were sent out by Jesus to saturate Judea with the gospel (Luke 10:1ff.). However, when Jesus explained that his flesh was "real food" and his blood was "real drink", many disciples left him (John 6:44–6:66), presumably including Mark. He was later restored to faith by the apostle Peter; he then became Peter’s interpreter, wrote the Gospel of Mark, founded the church of Africa, and became the bishop of Alexandria.

The Case
The Case is a 2007 Chinese film directed by the female first-time director, Wang Fen. It is the first film of the Yunnan New Film Project, a planned anthology of ten films directed by female Chinese directors, all taking place in the southern province of Yunnan. It was followed by The Park, also in 2007. The film was produced by Filmblog Media with the support of the Yunnan provincial government.
The Case follows an innkeeper, played by Wu Gang, who one day comes across a black suitcase floating in the river, only to discover that it contains the body, finely dismembered and frozen.
Plot
He Dashang (Wu Gang) is a middle-aged childless innkeeper trapped in an unhappy marriage in a sleepy city in Yunnan, China. Sleepwalking through his days, everything changes when he spies a black suitcase floating down the river. Retrieving it, Dashang hopes to find his fortune in the mysterious case, only to discover its contents are dismembered human body parts. Thrown into panic, he attempts to hide the contents. Things become even more complicated when a young couple, the sultry Lily (Wang Sifei), and her mousy husband (Wang Hongwei) arrive at the inn.

Kate Attended Pippa's Wedding Rehearsals At St Mark's Church
Her parents and siblings may well be staying in their hometown of Bucklebury tonight as they prepare for the society wedding of the year tomorrow, but the Duchess of Cambridge was spotted driving through London on Friday afternoon. It is thought that Kate attended the rehearsals for sister Pippa's wedding at St Mark's Church before driving her Range Rover back to Kensington Palace this afternoon. Kate's children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are acting as page boy and flower girl at the nuptials tomorrow, so the mother-of-two most likely had plenty to organise back in the city. It is unclear whether her husband, Prince William, or children were with her in the vehicle but the family-of-four will make an appearance together in Berkshire tomorrow.

Much of what we know about St. Mark, the author of the Second Gospel, comes largely from the New Testament and early Christian traditions. Mark the Evangelist is believed to be the 'John Mark' referred to in the Acts of the Apostles.
He was the son of Mary of Jerusalem, whose home became a meeting place for the apostles. He is also the cousin of St. Barnabas, a Levite and a Cypriot.
Mark joined St. Paul and St. Barnabas on their first missionary journey to Antioch in 44 A.D. When the group reached Cyprus, Christian tradition holds that Mark left them and returned to Jerusalem, possibly because he was missing his home. This incident may have caused Paul to question whether Mark could be a reliable missionary.
However, it can be assumed the troubles between Paul and Mark did not last long, because when Paul was first imprisoned, Mark visited him as one of his trusted companions.
Mark also held a close relationship with St. Peter, who referred to Mark has 'his son.’
Mark may not have personally heard the Lord speak and was not one of the twelve apostles. However, some believe Mark was likely speaking of himself when he wrote the description of Jesus' arrest where he described a young man following Jesus.
St. Mark lived for years in Alexandria, where he died as a martyr from being dragged through the streets.
Mark's Gospel was probably written between 60 and 70 A.D., and was based upon the teachings of St. Peter. It is believed Mark provided both Luke and Matthew with basic sources for their Gospel's.
In 828, relics of St. Mark were stolen from Alexandria and taken to Venice, Italy. There they are enshrined in a beautiful cathedral dedicated to the saint.
St. Mark's symbol is a winged lion and he is often depicted as writing or holding his Gospel.
St. Mark is the patron saint of Venice. His feast day is celebrated on April 25.

Much of what we know about St. Mark, the author of the Second Gospel, comes largely from the New Testament and early Christian traditions. Mark the Evangelist is believed to be the 'John Mark' referred to in the Acts of the Apostles.
He was the son of Mary of Jerusalem, whose home became a meeting place for the apostles. He is also the cousin of St. Barnabas, a Levite and a Cypriot.
Mark joined St. Paul and St. Barnabas on their first missionary journey to Antioch in 44 A.D. When the group reached Cyprus, Christian tradition holds that Mark left them and returned to Jerusalem, possibly because he was missing his home. This incident may have caused Paul to question whether Mark could be a reliable missionary.
However, it can be assumed the troubles between Paul and Mark did not last long, because when Paul was first imprisoned, Mark visited him as one of his trusted companions.
Mark also held a close relationship with St. Peter, who referred to Mark has 'his son.’
Mark may not have personally heard the Lord speak and was not one of the twelve apostles. However, some believe Mark was likely speaking of himself when he wrote the description of Jesus' arrest where he described a young man following Jesus.
St. Mark lived for years in Alexandria, where he died as a martyr from being dragged through the streets.
Mark's Gospel was probably written between 60 and 70 A.D., and was based upon the teachings of St. Peter. It is believed Mark provided both Luke and Matthew with basic sources for their Gospel's.
In 828, relics of St. Mark were stolen from Alexandria and taken to Venice, Italy. There they are enshrined in a beautiful cathedral dedicated to the saint.
St. Mark's symbol is a winged lion and he is often depicted as writing or holding his Gospel.
St. Mark is the patron saint of Venice. His feast day is celebrated on April 25.
