President of the United States

The President of the United States of America (POTUS) is the elected head of state and head of government of the United States. The president leads the executive branch of the federal government and is the commander-in-chief of the United States Armed Forces.

The President of the United States is considered one of the world's most powerful people, leading the world's only contemporary superpower. The role includes being the commander-in-chief of the world's most expensive military with the largest nuclear arsenal and leading the largest economy by real and nominal GDP. The office of the president holds significant hard and soft power both in the United States and abroad.

Article II of the U.S. Constitution vests the executive power of the United States in the president. The power includes execution of federal law, alongside the responsibility of appointing federal executive, diplomatic, regulatory and judicial officers, and concluding treaties with foreign powers with the advice and consent of the Senate. The president is further empowered to grant federal pardons and reprieves, and to convene and adjourn either or both houses of Congress under extraordinary circumstances. The president is largely responsible for dictating the legislative agenda of the party to which the president is enrolled. The president also directs the foreign and domestic policy of the United States. Since the founding of the United States, the power of the president and the federal government has grown substantially.

Donald Trump

Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessperson and media personality. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts. Trump's career, branding efforts, personal life, wealth, and outspoken manner have made him famous throughout the country. Since 2015, he is also a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election.

Trump is a native of New York City and a son of Fred Trump, who inspired him to enter real estate development. After two years at Fordham University and while studying at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Trump worked for his father's firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son. Upon graduating in 1968 he joined the company, and in 1971 was given control, renaming the company "The Trump Organization". Since then he has built hotels, golf courses, and other properties, many of which bear his name. He is a major figure in the American business scene and has received prominent media exposure. The NBC reality show The Apprentice bolstered his fame, and his three marriages were extensively reported in tabloids.

President

A president is the leader of a country or a division or part of a country, typically a republic, a democracy, or a dictatorship. The title "president" is sometimes used by extension for leaders of other groups, including corporate entities.

Etymologically, a president is one who presides (from Latin prae- "before" + sedere "to sit"; giving the term praeses). Originally, the term referred to the presiding officer of a ceremony or meeting (i.e., chairman), but today it most commonly refers to an executive official. Among other things, "President" today is a common title for the heads of state of most republics, whether presidential republics, semi-presidential republics or parliamentary republics.

Title

The title President is derived from the Latin prae- "before" + sedere "to sit." As such, it originally designated the officer who presides over or "sits before" a gathering and ensures that debate is conducted according to the rules of order (see also chairman and speaker). Early examples are from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge (from 1464) and the founding President of the Royal Society William Brouncker in 1660. This usage survives today in the title of such offices as "President of the Board of Trade" and "Lord President of the Council" in the United Kingdom, as well as "President of the Senate" (one of the roles constitutionally assigned to the Vice-President of the United States). The officiating priest at certain Anglican religious services, too, is sometimes called the "President" in this sense. However the most common modern usage is as the title of a head of state in a republic.

The President

The President is a mountain peak on the The President/Vice-President Massif, just North of Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, near the Alpine Club of Canada's Stanley Mitchell hut.

The President was named Shaugnessy in 1904 by Edward Whymper after Thomas Shaugnessy, the president of the Canadian Pacific Railway. In 1907, the mountain was renamed by the Alpine Club of Canada, after it was discovered that the name had already been used on a mountain in the Selkirks.

He also has the power to adjourn them if he deems it necessary, as outlined in Article II, section 3 of the Constitution. The US president can grant pardons or reprieves for those convicted of Federal Crimes, as outlined in the Constitution, Article II, Section 2. EXCEPT in the case of impeachment, so the president cannot pardon him or herself if convicted of a crime while in office. To date, President Barack Obama has issued 348 pardons, more than any other president. However, many of them are for overly harsh sentences for things like marijuana possession. The President is the official party leader of his or her political party while they are in office as the party leader is simply the most powerful person within that party. They take the lead in representing their party to the nation, addressing their party, and steering party policy. The President has the power to veto a bill that has been passed by Congress. However, congress can vote to override a Presidential Veto, though it's rarely been done. If the President threatens to veto a bill, it can often lead to changes in the legislation before it's passed. The President has the power to appoint ambassadors, SCOTUS judges (though these must be approved by Congress), the Secretary of State, and other various federal officials without an election but generally with approval from the Senate. It is the job of the President to prepare the Budget (this takes months) and submit the proposed budget (called "Budget Of The US Government") to Congress for approval. And more... Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan entertained visiting U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump with a Peking Opera performance at the Forbidden City, or the Palace Museum, on Wednesday afternoon. Trump arrived in Beijing Wednesday afternoon for his first state visit to China since he assumed the presidency in January. The performance was staged at the Belvedere of Pleasant Sounds, the largest opera theater in the Forbidden City, initially built during the reign of Emperor Qian Long (1736-1795) in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) to entertain the imperial family. With a history of more than 200 years, Peking Opera is one of China's main traditional drama forms and on the UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list. The art combines instrumental music, vocal performance, mime, dance and acrobatics. The presidents and their wives took in pieces from three classic plays, namely Spring Seedlings in the Pear Garden, Monkey King, and The Drunken Beauty. Before watching the performance, the presidents and their wives visited the conservation workshop at the Palace Museum. They attended an exhibition of antiques and watched the repair of some historical relics at the museum's conservation workshop, known as "the antiques hospital." The guests were also invited to experience a Chinese painting being mounted on a scroll. The workshop is the largest cultural heritage conservation center in China. It uses traditional techniques but is equipped with advanced technology. This is President Trump's first visit to China since taking office... as well as the first state visit Chinese President Xi Jinping has received... since the end of the 19th Chinese Party Congress. Diplomatic officials from China have been stressing that Trump will receive a "state-visit-plus" treatment, with both formal and informal get-togethers arranged. And for that, Trump's first night in Beijing, included a special evening with Xi at China's historical imperial palace, the Forbidden City. Trump first took a tour around the palace with his wife Melania... and President Xi and his wife Peng Liyuan. The two couples then drank tea and watched a performance of traditional Peking Opera. Trump also enjoyed a special banquet with China's first couple,... becoming the first foreign leader to be treated to dinner at the Forbidden City. The summit talks between Presidents Trump and Xi are scheduled for Thursday. U.S. officials say Trump will press Xi to tighten the screws on Pyongyang... by fully enforcing international sanctions... such as limits on oil exports, coal imports and financial transactions. (Chinese) "China is close to running out of measures to pressure North Korea. So, I think China may try to compromise... by somewhat stepping up the sanctions measures. But that would be still far from what Trump expects." In terms of trade, Trump is expected to bring up the same issues that he had with his South Korean and Japanese counterparts. (English) "We've seen great growth and trade between our two countries, but there are some concerns about having more reciprocity and reducing the balance of payments deficit between the United States and China." Also to watch for is how the two leaders define their partnership... and assure stability in bilateral relations.
