Calenda RSS feedsThis training school provides participants with insights into the theories and practices of stimulating impact creation from social sciences and humanities research. It will focuses on three specific dimensions. Firstly, creating a conceptual understanding on the specificities of social sciences and humanities (SSH) impact and non-linear impact models. Secondly, alternative appropriate policy frameworks for maximising SSH impact. Finally, we will explore ways of supporting scholarly practices to optimise the creation of impact through SSH research, and capturing this with evaluation systems.

The role of music and musicians in forging international links either between or beyond national boundaries can sometimes seem unproblematic or even emancipatory, under the assumption that music can be socially transformative. Yet just as the project of political internationalism between and after the World Wars was not without its challenges, so too did musical initiatives sometimes find themselves in positions of compromise, ethical conflict or co-option into unintended agendas.This two-day symposium will focus on music institutions and initiatives that were explicitly shaped by the project of internationalism during the politically-charged twentieth century.

The debate engendered by new forms of work and employment has grown considerably in recent times. In the eyes of many observers and journalists, western society is being uberised. This neologism derives from Uber, the now famous platform company that connects riders (customers requiring transport) to drivers (private vehicle owners). Indeed, Uber exemplifies the emergence of a platform capitalism which has shaken the foundations of collective organisation and traditional employment categories. Uber’s case reflects a new business model.

The next Journées Internationales de Sociologie du Travail in 2018, 50 years after this highly charged period of social criticism, provide the opportunity to question, on the one hand, the labour’s central role in social struggle, and, on the other, the transformation of the character of workplace struggles.

The wide variety of these projects, their objects, and their contributing “crowds” is striking: “Transcribe Bentham”, “Zooniverse”, etc. not forgetting Wikipedia. Facing this fact, it seems interesting to allow researchers from various disciplinary origins to gather and question crowdsourcing together. A large number of questions are at stake, from a scientific point of view, but also sociologically and ethically: are there common practices to these projects that are so different in their objects, objectives, data, and contributors? We thus wish, during this international and interdisciplinary conference, to confront theories, reflexions and sharing out of experiences on this subject.

What do the soldiers do when they are not on the battlefield? The broadening of the definition of war experience in recent historiography has transformed our spatial and temporal understanding of the conflict, shifting the scope away from the front lines and the activities of combat. Beyond the battlefield and its traditional martial associations emerges another representation of the warrior and the soldier, along with another experience of the war.

The first objective of the conference will be to advocate a multidisciplinary approach to the various aspects covered by food heritage. The second innovative trajectory will be to take a European and international standpoint, with a particular reference to countries that have successfully added food elements to the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Ces journées ont pour thème l’institution commémorative du passé de l’esclavage dans plusieurs sites, ports et comptoirs négriers européens africains et américains. Dans une perspective pluridisciplinaire, nous allons interroger l’édification – ou éventuellement son absence – d’une mémoire officielle et normative des traites esclavagistes, les mouvements d’adhésion et de dissensions ainsi que les oublis créateurs ou les silences, parfois chargés de significations tacites, qu’une telle mémoire suscite. Ses divers registres discursifs ainsi que ses chronotopes et, plus généralement, les motifs catalyseurs des narrations mobilisées seront au centre de notre réflexion.

Depuis plusieurs années, les institutions de recherche développent toute une gamme de stratégies de « mise en visibilité » des travaux de leurs chercheurs. Ces logiques relativement récentes gagnent à être interrogées dans un cadre plus large, qui prenne en considération la variété des supports et des dispositifs par lesquels les discours de savoir sont mis en circulation. Le cas des humanités (lettres, philosophie, sciences humaines) est à cet égard particulièrement intéressant à observer, car elles sont aujourd’hui tiraillées entre, d’une part l’exigence de se conformer à des standards de scientificité imposés par les sciences dites « dures » et l’usage abusif d’indicateurs pauvres tels l’indice « h », d’autre part l’exigence de justifier leur « valeur sociale » en portant leur discours sur « l’actualité ».

Ce colloque international a pour ambition de rassembler les spécialistes suisses et européens qui étudient le tirage au sort. Il s’agira ainsi d’établir un état des lieux des recherches en cours, en croisant les investigations des historiens de la Suisse, des historiens des idées et des chercheurs en sciences politiques. L’action nationale de formation (ANF) « Questio » propose, sur un même lieu et sur une même semaine, une formation complète sur l'enquête par questionnaire. Elle vise aussi à favoriser la réflexivité sur les pratiques et les usages d’enquêtes, et à mutualiser les expériences de chacun. En faisant appel à des experts de la méthode, l’ANF s'adresse en priorité aux membres du réseau métier Mate-SHS (Méthodes, analyses, terrains, enquêtes en sciences humaines et sociales), mais aussi aux chercheurs et doctorants en sciences humaines et sociales voulant mettre à jour leurs connaissances et se spécialiser.

Depuis une trentaine d’années, les études sur les émotions constituent un courant important de la recherche historique en général et helléniste en particulier. Les travaux d’Angelos Chaniotis et de David Konstan ont marqué cette tendance, et de nombreux ouvrages sur les émotions en général ou sur des émotions particulières comme aidôs (D. Cairns) ou la colère (Ed. Harris) ont vu le jour. Nous avons choisi d’approfondir une émotion fondamentale, la peur. Outre sa qualité de moteur pédagogique capital pour la petite enfance, la peur, sous ses différentes formes, combinée à des émotions annexes comme l’angoisse ou la stupeur, accompagne toutes les manifestations de la vie humaine.

De nombreuses études sociolinguistiques ont été consacrées aux espaces ségrégués qu’on appelle « banlieues », « quartiers » ou encore « cités » et notamment aux particularités linguistiques et culturelles qui leur sont propres ou qu’on leur attribue. Nous faisons ici allusion aux nombreux textes de rap français à succès ainsi qu’à la littérature dite « de banlieue ». Ces manifestations culturelles, produites dans un français non standard, ont reçu un accueil favorable aussi bien en France qu’à l’international. Cet état de fait contraste avec une vision médiatique plutôt mitigée dans laquelle ces espaces et les populations qui y vivent sont enfermées dans des problèmes économiques et sociaux tels que les « difficultés scolaires », le « chômage », l’ « immigration », la « radicalisation », la « violence », etc.

Les villes décroissantes sont devenues un objet d’études et de recherches central dans la dernière décennie. Sur la base de phénomènes, plus ou moins combinés, de décroissance démographique et de déclin économique, ces dynamiques se sont étendues à des villes de tailles diverses et de spécialisation économique autre qu’industrielle à tel point que le phénomène de déclin urbain est parfois qualifié de structurel, une fois replacé dans les puissantes logiques du processus de métropolisation. Dans un contexte où la décroissance devient une figure de l’urbain, comment penser l’adaptation des villes à leur nouvelle taille en contexte métropolisé ?

This conference aims to reflect on the critical spaces of reading and listening that occur in and around popular cultural texts in Africa – from songs, magazines, romance fiction, and hip-hop lyrics, to blogs, facebook posts, and urban inscriptions. Drawing on the methods of cultural studies, material print cultures, and the sociology of reception, we seek to engage with the critical vocabulary generated by those spaces of reception at a time of transition for the book object and the reading practices which accompany it. How can this material be researched (archives, interviews, ethnographic observation, digitisation, databases)? How is/might it be integrated into teaching across disciplines?
