Converter vs Inverter - Difference between Converter and Inverter
In order to operate a device properly and not blow it up, you need to supply it with the right voltage level. But with the different voltages available, we need to transform the voltage into what we need. Converters and inverters are what we would need to achieve this. The main difference between converters and inverters is what they do to the voltage. An inverter changes a DC voltage into an AC voltage and either increases or decreases it into the appropriate level. In comparison, a convert is the voltage from alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC).

Power electronics
Power electronics is the application of solid-state electronics to the control and conversion of electric power. It also refers to a subject of research in electronic and electrical engineering which deals with the design, control, computation and integration of nonlinear, time-varying energy-processing electronic systems with fast dynamics.
The first high power electronic devices were mercury-arc valves. In modern systems the conversion is performed with semiconductor switching devices such as diodes, thyristors and transistors, pioneered by R. D. Middlebrook and others beginning in the 1950s. In contrast to electronic systems concerned with transmission and processing of signals and data, in power electronics substantial amounts of electrical energy are processed. An AC/DC converter (rectifier) is the most typical power electronics device found in many consumer electronic devices, e.g. television sets, personal computers, battery chargers, etc. The power range is typically from tens of watts to several hundred watts. In industry a common application is the variable speed drive (VSD) that is used to control an induction motor. The power range of VSDs start from a few hundred watts and end at tens of megawatts.

Sega Genesis
The Sega Genesis, known as the Mega Drive (Japanese: メガドライブ, Hepburn: Mega Doraibu) in most regions outside North America, is a 16-bit home video game console which was developed and sold by Sega Enterprises, Ltd. The Genesis was Sega's third console and the successor to the Master System. Sega first released the console as the Mega Drive in Japan in 1988, followed by a North American debut under the Genesis moniker in 1989. In 1990, the console was distributed as the Mega Drive by Virgin Mastertronic in Europe, by Ozisoft in Australasia, and by Tec Toy in Brazil. In South Korea, the systems were distributed by Samsung and were known as the Super Gam*Boy (Hangul: 수퍼겜보이), and later the Super Aladdin Boy (Hangul: 수퍼알라딘보이).
Designed by an R&D team supervised by Hideki Sato and Masami Ishikawa, the Genesis hardware was adapted from Sega's System 16 arcade board, centered on a Motorola 68000 processor as a primary CPU and a Zilog Z80 as a secondary processor. The system supports a library of more than 900 games created both by Sega and a wide array of third-party publishers and delivered on ROM-based cartridges. It can also play Master System games when the separately sold Power Base Converter is installed. The Genesis has benefited from several peripherals and network services, as well as multiple first-party and third-party variations of the console that focus on extending its functionality.

In this video I cover the purpose and operation of the turbine, stator, impeller, and torque converter clutch. I hope the explanation and practical give you some insight into how these parts work to not only transfer power from the engine to the transmission, but also how it drives the transmission pump and doubles the torque output of the engine when you take off from a dead stop. I've wanted to make this video for some time. In fact I've had the fans sitting in the back of the shop for almost a year. Now that I have the Automatic Transmission Dissection video under my belt I thought I would add a torque converter dissection into the mix. I hope you enjoy this video and that it gets you a better understanding of torque converter operation. Especially since I killed my air compressor cutting this one in half.

In this video I cover the purpose and operation of the turbine, stator, impeller, and torque converter clutch. I hope the explanation and practical give you some insight into how these parts work to not only transfer power from the engine to the transmission, but also how it drives the transmission pump and doubles the torque output of the engine when you take off from a dead stop. I've wanted to make this video for some time. In fact I've had the fans sitting in the back of the shop for almost a year. Now that I have the Automatic Transmission Dissection video under my belt I thought I would add a torque converter dissection into the mix. I hope you enjoy this video and that it gets you a better understanding of torque converter operation. Especially since I killed my air compressor cutting this one in half.
