Art of the Cover - Spoon's "TV Set"

Spoon Cover the Cramps'

I use your eyeballs for dials on my TV set ...

Odd bedfellows here, indeed! A bizarro collision  between The Cramps' mighty, deranged, punktastic take on rockabilly and Spoon's polished, slinky indie rock that, surprisingly, works magnificently well!

Britt and the boys deliver a remarkably faithful rendition of the opening track from 1980’s Bad Music For Bad People, if only shined up just a bit.

They wrap their guitars in fuzz and kick the low-end up to menacing levels, while Daniel assumes Lux Interior’s stuttering delivery to perfection.

Spoon contributed  this sublime cover of the Cramps’ Psychobilly classic to the soundtrack for the new remake of Poltergeist.

Yap, the much-maligned reboot of the horror franchise classic might’ve all been worth it just for bringing this thing into existence.

The Video - Spoon's "The Way We Get By"

you bought a new bag of pot, said 'let's make a new start'

A magnificent moment from the wonderful Kill the Moonlight LP from, erm .... 2002,

Two thousand and fucking two? ... I don't believe it!

Yap, it's Britt's beautiful bijou  "The Way We Get By". A thing as fresh sounding today as it was all those years back.

A tale of outsiders who get high in back seats of cars and break into mobile homes, it's a humorous witty slice of existential angst with lots of Elvis Costello echoes.

And lots of wonderful ivory tinkling!

And a nice nod to a seminal Stooges song in the line "fall in love to Down on the Street" !

Delectable!
