Art of the Poster - Ekachai Uekrongtham's "Pleasure Factory" [aka Kuaile Gongchang] (2007)
Interesting piece of filmic art from Thai director Ekachai Uekrongtham.
Yap, it's 'Kuaile Gongchang' aka 'Pleasure Factory' the controversial 2007 docudrama set in Geylang, the red-light district of Singapore.
The cast includes Yang Kuei-Mei, Ananda Everingham, Loo Zihan, Xu Er, Katashi Chen, Isabella Chen, Jeszlene Zhou, Ian Francis Low, Vincent Tee Soo Poo and Theresa Chua Yunn Chin.
Inspired by true stories and real-life characters, Pleasure Factory tells an intimate and seductive tale involving pleasure seekers and pleasure providers in Geylang, Singapore’s red light district.
In the course of one night, an army boy loses his virginity; a teenage girl gets initiated into the pleasure manufacturing process; and a jaded prostitute pays a young busker good money in exchange for a song he never gets to sing

Yeah, like nigh all so-called 'magic', it's a hackneyed old trick .... but it's a hot Asian chick this time!! And that's all that counts!
Most of all though, what's good about this act is the fact they're not douchebag Dave (Brain-dead) Blaine or satanist fag Kriss Angel! ... Oh, and that leprechaun knut Keith Barry!! .... That's what makes this thing relatively miraculous (almost!)

Magic Babe Ning: The Only Professional Female Magician from Singapore

Ning Cai (borned on 16 October 1982), better known as ‘Magic Babe’ Ning, is a Singaporean magician and entrepreneur. She has been recognized by Channel News Asia as “South East Asia’s First Professional Female Magician” and she is widely acknowledged as “Singapore’s Only Professional Female Magician” by all major national newspapers as well as many magazines including: The Straits Times, Lianhe Zaobao etc.
She is best known for her good looks and the glamour she brings to magic in Asia and her entrepreneurial spirit. She was named “the sexiest woman in magic” by MagicSeen (UK’s largest magic magazine) which was subsequently used to describe her by many media publications in Singapore.
She has graced the cover of several magazines including FHM Singapore, Stuff Singapore and Vanilla.
In July 2009, Ning was awarded the coveted Merlin Award for “Most Original Female Illusionist 2009” by the International Magicians Society.
Her interest in magic started as a kid and was revived in 2004 when she was involved with charity work for the Children’s Cancer Foundation and performed magic at their events.
At the same time, she became one of the founding members (as acknowledged by the creator) and moderators of Singapore Magic Circle (SMC), an on-line magic community and forum.
In 2006, she joined a local magic competition and came in 3rd place. This led her to join J C Sum’s magic production house as a performer and marketing communications manager; after graduating with a degree in Mass Communications from RMIT.
Ning dislikes being typecast as a typical female in magic who plays submissive roles to males and only performs magic with silks, flowers, umbrellas or rabbits.
She incorporates samurai swords, twirling fire balls, spikes and weapons in her show. Ning is comfortable with her sexy image on stage and she feels she has the talent to back it up. Her influences in magic include David Copperfield, Princess Tenko and J C Sum.
Currently, Ning performs with J C Sum in their illusion show across Asia. Their equal partnership as a professional magic duo has been acknowledged as “very groundbreaking and refreshing”.
Channel News Asia highlighted that they represent “The New Faces of an Age-Old Art Form” while AsiaOne called them “The Hottest Duo in Town”.
