The Cover Version - Jess Greenberg does "Highway to Hell"

I've no idea who this hotty is. And I'm not really an ACDC fan. However, somehow, there are definitely a couple of impressive things I really like about this vid!

Her cover version's not bad either.

Moments In Time - Where The Girls Are: Bon Scott and the Heathen Girls hit an Atlanta hotel (1978)

by © 2011 Rennie Ellis Photographic Archive.

“Up in his room, Bon orders one of those fancy American cocktails, then dials California for a 20 minute call with an old girlfriend. Lead guitarist Angus Young, the ‘enfant terrible’ of AC/DC, arrives closely followed by Rose Whisperr and the Heathen Girls – four stunningly beautiful, heavily made-up girls who’s singing act at the local gay bars could loosely be called ‘bizarre chic’. The girls and the band had met at the backstage party that manager Michael Browning had thrown an hour or so before at the end of a typical raging AC/DC concert.”

Art of the Cover - Mark Kozelek's "Live At Mao Livehouse Shanghai & Beijing" (2013)

Gorgeous artwork as always from Kozelek, with sleeve design by Azer & Burns (@ Et Cetera.) The atmospheric photographs of Mark in Beijing are by Koki Yahata.

This wonderful live collection of great Koz songs (and an ACDC cover!) was recorded live at Mao Livehouse in Shanghai and Beijing  on July 15 and 17, 2012.

It's a real intimate collection that, coming in at a restrained 14 tracks, is like a mini-album by Koz standards.

As well as an array of live versions of tracks from last year's magnificent "Among The Leaves" LP, the album also includes a preview of "You Missed My Heart" (co-written with The Album Leaf's Jimmy LaValle) which would later appear on their sublime 2013 collaborative album Perils From The Sea.

I've got Nine Lives, Cats Eyes

I keep lookin' at the stars
'cause they're gettin' me high.
Forget the hearse,
'cause I'll never die
.
I've got nine lives,
cats eyes.
Usin' every one of them
and runnin' wild
.
'Cause I'm back.

Top 10 AC/DC songs

Not exactly our favourite music, but it does make a modicum of sense in the context of strip bars!

Yap, the "Emergency Room" go-go bar wouldn't be the same without the boys' "stripper classics"!

From backtotheeighties.net

highway to hell cover

"Ridin` down the highway, goin` to a show, stop in all the by-ways, playin` rock n roll."

Acca Dacca

AC/DC is Australia’s flagship rock band, and over the years they have become the prototypical hard rock band of the world. The 80s was their peak and also their downfall.

They are often criticised as only having one song, or that every song sounds the same, but then is often responded with ‘well, it’s a hell of a good song though!’

While they have recorded a bucket-load of filler in their time, I still found it hard to select only 10 from their huge back catalogue.

AC/DC SONGS

It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)T.N.T / High Voltage (US)
This is the anthem to every geezer that ever picked up the electric guitar or a pair of drum sticks. I still love it to this very day. Absolute classic. Nearly as memorably was the video of them playing on the back of an old truck driving through Melbourne.

Hells BellsBack in Black
The big opener to their #1 album.
In this world there are two kinds of people – Bon Scott people and Brian Johnson people. I’m a Scott man through and through, but damn Brian gives it his all on The Bells. Epic stuff.

ThunderstruckThe Razors Edge
I still remember seeing this video for the first time and seeing those huge bass drums and that wicked guitar run and thinking it was pretty much the coolest thing I’d ever seen and heard at the same time. Now I’ve heard it a billion times...and I pretty much feel the same way.

Back in BlackBack in Black
Angus’ signature riff and probably one of their most overrated, but still a great song.

The Razors Edge
The Razors Edge
This is probably the most underrated and intense Dacca song I know. If you don’t know it, then check it out – it’s dark as hell and as sharp as a razor, so to speak.

If You Want Blood (You've Got It)Highway to Hell
Probably my all time favourite AC/DC tune. If I ever fight in the ring/cage, this will almost definitely be my intro tune. Huge anthem, awesome vocals and sensational delivery.

Highway to Hell
Highway to Hell
Their definitive anthem and Scott’s swan song. There’s not much to be said that hasn’t been already. Great bloody tune.

Jailbreak
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap / Jailbreak '74 (US)
This is another underrated song and another great Bon Scott story.
“But he made it out...with a bullet in his backkkk!”

T.N.T.T.N.T
The song that probably invented head banging, their early anthem still kicks up a storm to this day. The bluegrass band Hayseed Dixie does a version where the ‘Oi!’s’ are replaced by ‘Oink!’s’. Class.

For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)
For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)
Not a great album by any stretch, but certainly a great song. The number they use to close in their live show, it’s an anthem for rockers through and through. Awesome stuff.

Other notable mentions:

Whole Lotta Rosie, Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Shoot to Thrill, High Voltage, You Shook Me All Night Long, Touch Too Much, Moneytalks, Are You Ready, Who Made Who, Stiff Upper Lip, Rock 'n' Roll Train, Let There Be Rock, Ain't No Fun (Waiting Round To Be A Millionaire), Spellbound, The Ride, Rock N Roll Ain't Noise Pollution, Sin City.

We're not great fans but their music goes down well at the gogo bar! So it can't be that bad!

Here are two recent singles for their impending album!

A reliable in-house BW&BK source has confirmed that AC/DC’s forthcoming album will in fact be called BLACK ICE. It will be released on October 27th. The new single, ‘Runaway Train’, will be released in late August. A mammoth world tour will start in America in November.

BLACK ICE is AC/DC’s first studio album in eight years. It was recorded in Canada at Bryan Adams’ studio under the production guidance of Brendan O’Brien. It will be the band’s 15th studio album. Their last album was STIFF UPPER LIP in 2000 but the band maintained a profile with DVD.

AC/DC - Back In Black (1980) - Digitally Remastered

Back in High School, AC/DC were quite popular. Well, I mean popular amongst the dumbest, simian blokes. The kind of blokes who wore t-shirts with the sleeves shorn off, and denim jackets with the sleeves shorn off and who spent most of their time polishing their Doc Martens boots.

AC/DC never made any sense whatsoever to me.

But that was until I visited a nasty go-go bar!

Strangely, in that one specific context, they did make a little sense! Well, the same amount of sense as go-go bars make sense!

The nasty go-go gals seem to love em - or at least, it gets their nasty asses to gyrate pretty fucking good! That's enough for me!

Back in Black is the 7th studio album by Australian hard rock band AC/DC, released on 25 July 1980. Back in Black was the first AC/DC album recorded without former lead singer Bon Scott, who had died at the age of 33 on February 19, 1980.

The band considered disbanding following Scott's death, but ultimately decided to continue and shortly thereafter hired Brian Johnson as their new lead singer and lyricist. Robert John "Mutt" Lange, who had previously worked with AC/DC on Highway to Hell, was again brought in to produce.

The album is estimated to have sold 42 million copies internationally, making it the second best selling album of all time behind Michael Jackson's Thriller. It is also the Highest Selling Album by an Australian Music Act of all time. It was also certified 22 times platinum in America by the RIAA on 2007-12-13.
