Paracas may refer to:
The Ballestas Islands are a group of small islands near the town of Paracas located within the Paracas District of the Pisco Province in the Ica Region, on the south coast of Peru. Composed largely of rock formations and covering an estimated area of 0.12 km², these islands are an important sanctuary for marine fauna like the guanay guano bird, the blue-footed booby and the tendril. Other notable species include Humboldt penguins and two varieties of seals (fur seals and sea lions), amongst other mammals.
These islands are accessible from the resort town of Paracas (near Pisco) by tour boat which typically lasts 2 hours. During the visits it is not uncommon for the sea lions to approach the tourist boats and make spectacles for the visiting tourists. The sea lions are also responsible for a unique audio spectacle with their wolf-pack cries that echoes around the Ballestas and creates an effect of a 360 degree surrounding choir.
On the way to the islands, on the Paracas Peninsula, visitors will notice El Candelabro, a large-scale geoglyph that may have served as a beacon to mariners. The mystery as to the origins of this particular geoglyph is ongoing with much speculation. The visit to the Ballestas Islands is, from an ecotourism point of view, probably the best known along the Peruvian coast.

The elongated skulls of Paracas in Peru caused a stir in 2014 when a geneticist that carried out preliminary DNA testing reported that they have mitochondrial DNA “with mutations unknown in any human, primate, or animal known so far”. Now a second round of DNA testing has been completed and the results are just as controversial – the skulls tested, which date back as far as 2,000 years, were shown to have European and Middle Eastern Origin. These surprising results change the known history about how the Americas were populated. In this interview L.A. Marzulli explains how the tests were carried out and shares his theory about what the results really mean.

One of the most fascinating ancient elongated skull has just been discovered. According to Brien Foerster over at hidden Inca Tours, the mummified head and partial neck of a baby from the Paracas culture of Peru is one of the most amazing elongated skulls discovered to date. This mysterious skull has auburn hair color which is not the typical black color seen in Native American People. A bilingual (Spanish-English) interview made by researcher Giorgio Piacenza to Mr. Juan Navarro Hierro, who inherited Paracas remnants & artifacts and now directs the Paracas History Museum which currently (as of June, 2014) preserves the only available exhibit about the Paracas Culture in the town of Paracas, Perú. This first part is a general overview about the museum's context and the secon part shows more some of the artifacts, including several deformed skulls some of which seem to have unique NATURAL characteristics suggestive of an unknown race of individuals that settled in this location possibly 2500-3000 years ago and intermingled with the indigenous population. IF that is correct, perhaps the Paracas inhabitants subsequently tried to maintain the unique physical traits by def...
Everywhere poverty reigns on this ground
Struggles for existence are the daily round
Survival of the fittest is the order of the day
A little more time, the earning of the stray
No way, no way
Is that all you have to say?
Stand up, fight back,
So far and not further
This way is wrong,
It´s time for a new order
The little child, it´s hungry and it´s riled
Its mother gave it away at the first ray of this day
No way, no way
Is that all you have to say?
Stand up, fight back,
So far and not further
This way, is wrong,
It´s time for a new order
No way, no way
