“Get Back Somehow” was an episode of the CBS television series Navy Log, originally airing on April 24, 1956. (The series was touted as a military drama based on true naval stories.) It was directed by Jean Yarbrough and starred Stanley Clements and Francis De Sales. In the episode, set in 1942, a United States Marine fighter pilot is shot down over the Pacific and parachutes into the enemy-held jungle. He is forced to fight for his life against the elements and the Japanese in an attempt to survive. The episode opens with Marine pilots participating in a series of survival training exercises, where the officers are constantly reminded that their standing order is always “to get back somehow.” As the pilots talk about their upcoming missions and ultimately take off in their F4U Corsairs at mark 10:15, but during the mission one of the Marine pilots is shot down. After a failed rescue attempt at sea remaining concealed from Japanese search parties, the pilot makes his way on shore at mark 17:15 and remembering his training buries his life jacket and covers his tracks in the sand before heading into the bushes. “If you need food you may have to kill for it,” as we hear the pilot’s thoughts after stumbling upon an enemy soldier at mark 19:20 — and he is eventually forced to do just that. In the end, the hero encounters an Allied coast watcher and he is rescued.

“Sky Pilot” was an episode of the CBS television series Navy Log, originally airing on October 25, 1955. (The series was touted as a military drama based on true naval stories.) Narrated by Robert Carson and featuring Stanley Clements, Harry Townes, and Hayden Rorke (later of “I Dream of Jeannie” fame), the episode is set aboard the USS Nereus (AS-17), a Fulton-class submarine tender, in 1953, and revolves around a crewman who is up for promotion. His behavior becomes erratic and he is hauled up for disciplinary action to face a captain’s mast (non-judicial punishment). A chaplain meets with the sailor (mark 03:15) and begins to investigate the situation. He meets with the ship’s commander (mark 04:19) and discovers issues (“partly women troubles”) that may explain the man’s actions. The chaplain, a former boxer, offers to train the man to fight to refocus his aggression — something the sailor bluntly refuses. The two men eventually agree to meet in the ring (mark 09:15) but the chaplain takes a dive so he can “earn his respect as a man.”
The chaplain requests shore leave to further investigate what may be troubling the sailor (mark 10:45) and finds his sister-in-law had abandoned her son. At mark 13:35 he meets with the ship’s former chaplain, a Roman Catholic monsignor, who offers information crucial to the investigation. (The prior chaplain was on his way to delivery Last Rites to a patient in sick bay and was unable to listen to the sailor’s problem). At the captain’s mast (mark 15:28), the sailor is formerly charged with being AWOL, being drunk and disorderly, and resisting arrest. The chaplain intervenes, and at mark 17:45, it is revealed that the sailor knew his sister-in-law “was no good” but he had promised his deceased brother to care for his nephew to carry on the family name. The reason he went AWOL was to search for his family. In light of the circumstances, the captain dismisses the charges and clears the way for his promotion. By mark 23:23, the man is reunited with his nephew.

Treasury Men in Action (also known as Federal Men) is an American crime drama series broadcast live and which aired from 1950 through April 1951. The series was an anthology drama dramatizing cases from one of the various law enforcement agencies that operated under the US Treasury Department. The host was Walter Greaza, who introduced each episode as "The Chief" of whichever agency was featured in a given episode. Counterfeiters, tax evaders, smugglers, narcotics traffickers, and other federal offenders whose crimes fell within the jurisdiction of Treasury were pursued. Cases from the files of the US Secret Service, the Customs Bureau. the Alcohol Tax Unit, the Intelligence Division of the Internal Revenue Service, and the Federal Bureau of Narcotics were dramatized.

This third volume of the complete Bowery Boys film collection carries within it some milestone moments for the series - along with more mirth and malaprops than you can swing a crumpled fedora at! First off, the Boys look back to their roots as the Forties wind down with Angels’ Alley, complete with gangsters and fighting priests (and the crime vein continues in the very noir-ey Angels in Disguise). Next we move through the Fifties hitting on all cylinders whether its feuding in the west (Feudin’ Fools) or racing to the roar of the crowd (Jalopy) as Huntz Hall moves up to headliner status (Paris Playboys) before bidding a fond farewell to beloved Bernard Gorcey (Louie Dumbrowski) who died suddenly after completing Dig That Uranium. Son Leo (Slip) would depart the series shortly thereafter, leaving Huntz Hall to carry the comedy (and battle the devil in Up In Smoke!) alongside new boy Duke (Stanley Clements). But allow us to regurgitate one salient pint – Slip, Sach, Duke and the boys will be back for another round in volume 4!

This recording of Over in the Glory Land is from the Stanley Brothers 1959 LP FOR THE GOOD PEOPLE - (King K-698). This is the album that influenced me a great deal when I was learning guitar and is one of my favorite Stanley Brothers albums. The quartet throughout the whole LP is tight and heartfelt. The instrument work is also first class. In my opinion, Bill Napier is one of the most underrated guitarists in country music.

Stanley Clements
Stanley Clements (July 16, 1926 – October 16, 1981) was an American actor and comedian.
Life and career
Stanley Clements was born Stanislaw Klimowicz in Long Island, New York. Young Stan realized that he wanted a show-business career while he was in grammar school, and when he graduated from college, he toured in vaudeville for two years. He then joined the touring company of the Major Bowes Amateur Hour. In 1941, he was signed to a contract by 20th Century Fox and appeared in several B films for the studio.
After a stint with the East Side Kids, he set out on his own again, this time landing roles in more prestigious pictures. He was featured in the Bing Crosby hit Going My Way, and scored a great success as a jockey in the Alan Ladd feature Salty O'Rourke. His career was interrupted by military service in World War II, and when he returned, he began appearing in lower-budgeted films, including Johnny Holiday (cast against type as a psychopath) and Destination Murder (as a hired killer). He starred in a series of action/detective pictures at Allied Artists for producer Ben Schwalb and director Edward Bernds.

Bowery Boys
The Bowery Boys were a nativist, anti-Catholic, and anti-Irish gang based out of the Bowery section of Manhattan in the mid-19th century and, despite their reputation as one of the most prominent gangs of 1800's New York, led law-abiding lifestyles for most of the week. The gang was made up exclusively of volunteer firemen but also worked as mechanics and butchers (the occupation of famed Bowery Boy leader William "Bill The Butcher" Poole) and would fight rival fire companies over who would extinguish a fire. While acting in capacity as a gang (and aided by other Bowery gangs) the Bowery Boys would battle against multiple outfits out of the infamous Five Points, most notably the Dead Rabbits, whom they would feud with for decades.The uniform of a Bowery Boy generally consisted of a stovepipe hat in variable condition, a red shirt, and dark trousers tucked into boots; the uniform paying homage to their roots as volunteer firemen.

The Stanley Brothers
The Stanley Brothers were an American bluegrass duo made up of brothers Carter and Ralph Stanley.
Biography
Carter and Ralph Stanley were born on a small farm near McClure, Virginia in Dickenson County. Music was a part of their lives from early on, as they were able to listen to the likes of the Monroe Brothers, J. E. Mainer's Mountaineers and the Grand Ole Opry on local radio. The brothers soon formed a band, the Lazy Ramblers, and performed as a duo on WJHL radio in Johnson City, Tennessee.World War II interrupted any thoughts of a musical career, and it was not until both brothers returned from the service that they were able to make their own mark in music.
They formed their band, the Stanley Brothers and the Clinch Mountain Boys, in 1946 as the first band to copy the Monroe sound. Carter played guitar and sang lead while Ralph played banjo and sang with a strong, high tenor voice. Additional members of this early band were Darrell "Pee Wee" Lambert on mandolin and Bobby Sumner on fiddle. Sumner was soon to be replaced by Leslie Keith. On December 26, 1946, the band began performing at radio station WCYB in Bristol, Tennessee as stalwarts of the famed Farm and Fun Time radio show. They made their recording debut in September 1947 for Rich-R-Tone Records which had been founded the year before. Their records sold well "outselling even Eddy Arnold" regionally. Up to now, Ralph had been playing the banjo with two fingers only on recordings and in concerts but switched in 1948 to the three-finger style popularised by Earl Scruggs. In March 1949, the Stanley Brothers began recording for Columbia Records.

This is the album that influenced me a great deal when I was learning guitar and is one of my favorite Stanley Brothers albums. The quartet throughout the whole LP is tight and heartfelt. The instrument work is also first class. In my opinion, Bill Napier is one of the most underrated guitarists in country music. “Get Back Somehow” was an episode of the CBS television series Navy Log, originally airing on April 24, 1956. (The series was touted as a military drama based on true naval stories.) After a failed rescue attempt at sea remaining concealed from Japanese search parties, the pilot makes his way on shore at mark 17:15 and remembering his training buries his life jacket and covers his tracks in the sand before heading into the bushes. “If you need food you may have to kill for it,” as we hear the pilot’s thoughts after stumbling upon an enemy soldier at mark 19:20 — and he is eventually forced to do just that. In the end, the hero encounters an Allied coast watcher and he is rescued.

At the captain’s mast (mark 15:28), the sailor is formerly charged with being AWOL, being drunk and disorderly, and resisting arrest. The chaplain intervenes, and at mark 17:45, it is revealed that the sailor knew his sister-in-law “was no good” but he had promised his deceased brother to care for his nephew to carry on the family name. The reason he went AWOL was to search for his family. In light of the circumstances, the captain dismisses the charges and clears the way for his promotion. By mark 23:23, the man is reunited with his nephew.

Counterfeiters, tax evaders, smugglers, narcotics traffickers, and other federal offenders whose crimes fell within the jurisdiction of Treasury were pursued. Treasury Men in Action (also known as Federal Men) is an American crime drama series broadcast live and which aired from 1950 through April 1951. The series was an anthology drama dramatizing cases from one of the various law enforcement agencies that operated under the US Treasury Department. The host was Walter Greaza, who introduced each episode as "The Chief" of whichever agency was featured in a given episode. Counterfeiters, tax evaders, smugglers, narcotics traffickers, and other federal offenders whose crimes fell within the jurisdiction of Treasury were pursued. Cases from the files of the US Secret Service, the Customs Bureau. the Alcohol Tax Unit, the Intelligence Division of the Internal Revenue Service, and the Federal Bureau of Narcotics were dramatized.

First off, the Boys look back to their roots as the Forties wind down with Angels’ Alley, complete with gangsters and fighting priests (and the crime vein continues in the very noir-ey Angels in Disguise). Next we move through the Fifties hitting on all cylinders whether its feuding in the west (Feudin’ Fools) or racing to the roar of the crowd (Jalopy) as Huntz Hall moves up to headliner status (Paris Playboys) before bidding a fond farewell to beloved Bernard Gorcey (Louie Dumbrowski) who died suddenly after completing Dig That Uranium. Son Leo (Slip) would depart the series shortly thereafter, leaving Huntz Hall to carry the comedy (and battle the devil in Up In Smoke!) alongside new boy Duke (Stanley Clements). But allow us to regurgitate one salient pint – Slip, Sach, Duke and the boys will be back for another round in volume 4!

This recording of Over in the Glory Land is from the Stanley Brothers 1959 LP FOR THE GOOD PEOPLE - (King K-698). This is the album that influenced me a great deal when I was learning guitar and is one of my favorite Stanley Brothers albums. The quartet throughout the whole LP is tight and heartfelt. The instrument work is also first class. In my opinion, Bill Napier is one of the most underrated guitarists in country music.

In the end, the hero encounters an Allied coast watcher and he is rescued.

At the captain’s mast (mark 15:28), the sailor is formerly charged with being AWOL, being drunk and disorderly, and resisting arrest. The chaplain intervenes, and at mark 17:45, it is revealed that the sailor knew his sister-in-law “was no good” but he had promised his deceased brother to care for his nephew to carry on the family name. The reason he went AWOL was to search for his family. In light of the circumstances, the captain dismisses the charges and clears the way for his promotion. By mark 23:23, the man is reunited with his nephew.

Treasury Men in Action (also known as Federal Men) is an American crime drama series broadcast live and which aired from 1950 through April 1951. The series was an anthology drama dramatizing cases from one of the various law enforcement agencies that operated under the US Treasury Department. The host was Walter Greaza, who introduced each episode as "The Chief" of whichever agency was featured in a given episode. Counterfeiters, tax evaders, smugglers, narcotics traffickers, and other federal offenders whose crimes fell within the jurisdiction of Treasury were pursued. Cases from the files of the US Secret Service, the Customs Bureau. the Alcohol Tax Unit, the Intelligence Division of the Internal Revenue Service, and the Federal Bureau of Narcotics were dramatized.

Devil's Partner is a 1958 American film starring Ed Nelson, directed by Charles R. Rondeau and produced by Hugh Hooker, an actor and stuntman who had previously made the 1958 film The Littlest Hobo. However the film was not released until 1961 when it was acquired by Roger and Gene Corman's Filmgroup as a double feature with Creature from the Haunted Sea The film was co-written by actor Stanley Clements and Laura Jean Mathews.
The story opens with a hunched old man, Pete Jensen, who lives in a shack in the town of Furnace Flats. He slaughters a goat and daubs its blood within a hexagon drawn on the floor of his shack.
A young man, Nick Richards, comes to town, claiming that the old tramp was his uncle. Alerted to his presence, the town's sheriff informs Nick that his Uncle Pete was found dead of undetermined causes and no one in the town liked Pete. Everyone notices that even though it's incredibly hot, the immaculately dressed Nick doesn't so much as have a drop of sweat on him.
Nick proceeds to run a gas station which he uses as a base to do some petty interfering in the lives of a few locals, driving a wedge between Nell Lucas and David Simpson after Simpson's dog attacks him and mauls his face. Nick Simpson seems to be behind all this, and further animal-related incidents occur - for instance, a local drunk is trampled by a horse, a plastic surgeon driving to Furnace Flats to do an operation on Simpson is killed in when a cow lays down in the road in front of his car that causes him to crash and a rattler gets in to attack Simpson in his bedroom. The sheriff goes to the shack and finds a buried goat that is dug up by his terrier.
Ultimately, Nick dies and transforms back into his human shape of Pete Jensen, having had it revealed that he was behind the various animal-inflicted maulings and killings as Pete had sold his soul for a period of two years and the Devil allowed Pete to come back to town to revenge himself on some of the townsfolk in the guise of a young man. At this point, David Simpson's facial wound miraculously disappears and the film ends on a happy note with the townsfolk characters standing over Nick's body in a field.

The series aired from March 11, 1954 to June 23, 1955, a season and a half. When this series was created by Mort R. Lewis and Sam Shayon, the concept of the public defender was little known in the United States except in capital cases. The Public Defender purportedly based each episode on true cases, and each segment closes with a tribute to a public defender. Hadley portrays the stoic but driven public defender Bart Matthews, whose clients cannot otherwise afford expensive legal representation.

This third volume of the complete Bowery Boys film collection carries within it some milestone moments for the series - along with more mirth and malaprops than you can swing a crumpled fedora at! First off, the Boys look back to their roots as the Forties wind down with Angels’ Alley, complete with gangsters and fighting priests (and the crime vein continues in the very noir-ey Angels in Disguise). Next we move through the Fifties hitting on all cylinders whether its feuding in the west (Feudin’ Fools) or racing to the roar of the crowd (Jalopy) as Huntz Hall moves up to headliner status (Paris Playboys) before bidding a fond farewell to beloved Bernard Gorcey (Louie Dumbrowski) who died suddenly after completing Dig That Uranium. Son Leo (Slip) would depart the series shortly thereafter, leaving Huntz Hall to carry the comedy (and battle the devil in Up In Smoke!) alongside new boy Duke (Stanley Clements). But allow us to regurgitate one salient pint – Slip, Sach, Duke and the boys will be back for another round in volume 4!
