Four charged after stolen car crashed through gate, rammed police car

A group of people have been charged after an alleged stolen car rammed into a police car and forced it 30 metres backwards after a pursuit through Moreton Bay.

Just before midnight on October 31, a Subaru Outback, allegedly stolen a week earlier, drove towards a police car that had turned on its lights and sirens.

The police driver took evasive action and the stolen vehicle sped off through roadworks at Burpengary where it “barely missed oncoming traffic”, police said.

About half an hour later, police saw the same vehicle at Morayfield and pursued it to the rural suburb of Rocksberg where it crashed through a closed gate on private property.

Police stopped their pursuit and an officer got out of the vehicle to remove the damaged gate.

During this time, police will allege the Subaru Outback turned around and sped up towards the police vehicle, ramming into it and pushing it backwards about 30 metres.

Both cars were damaged in the crash and the four people inside the alleged stolen vehicle ran from the scene. Two were arrested a short time later and the other two were arrested the following day.
