Jaluit Atoll (Marshallese: Jālwōj, [tʲælʲo̯o͡etʲ], or Jālooj, [tʲælʲe͡oː͡etʲ]) is a large coral atoll of 91 islands in the Pacific Ocean and forms a legislative district of the Ralik Chain of the Marshall Islands. Its total land area is only 11.34 square kilometres (4.38 sq mi), and it encloses a lagoon with an area of 690 square kilometres (270 sq mi). Most of the land area is on the largest islet (motu) of Jaluit (10.4 km²). Jaluit is approximately 220 kilometres (140 mi) southwest of Majuro. Jaluit Atoll is a designated conservation area and Ramsar Wetland.
In 2011 the population of the islands of Jaluit Atoll was 1,788. It was the former administrative seat of the Marshall Islands.
The British merchant vessel Rolla sighted Jaluit in 1803. She had transported convicts from Britain to New South Wales and was on her way to China to find a cargo to take back to Britain.
The German Empire claimed Jaluit Atoll along with the rest of the Marshall Islands in 1884, and the Germans established a trading outpost. Jaluit became a German protectorate on 13 September 1886 and had several imperial commissars (Kaiserliche Kommissare):
Iokwe kom! Here is a video showing my amazing trip to Jaluit Atoll this past year. Once a month, I would like to post a video showing my life here in the Marshall Islands for my own sake of remembrance as well as the enjoyment of anyone interested. Check out Sole Jibas' YouTube for more original Marshallese songs which he writes and sings! I was able to stay with some of his relatives, and he was my translator and tour guide for pretty much the entire trip. Under funding from the European Union and other partners, we sent a team of 17 people to Jaluit Atoll in the Marshall Islands. Their purpose? To assess how we can help increase the health resilience of the people and fight climate change at the same time. This is just the first of many episodes to come. Enjoy

I said it once
And I'll say it thousand times again
That love is amazing
If you find the perfect one
Everyone say
To find the one may take some time
Sorrow can struck you
But in the end it's worth the fight
We are just meant to be
I know and you'll see
What I never thought I'd find
It's here with me
Heaven's made for you and me
I close my eyes
It's written in the stars above
And we will last eternity
Heaven's made for you and me
There's nothing to fear
Cause Darling when you're close to me
It's heavenly
You gave me a chance
You gave me the time it took to proof
Still I was uncertain
Was I gettin' through to you
The woman in me, boy
The woman I am need to (..)
But you always convinst me
In your love and tenderness
We are just meant to be
I know and you will see
What I never thought I'd find
I'ts here with me
Heaven's made for you and me
I close my eyes
It's written in the stars above
And we will last eternity
Heaven's made for you and me
There's nothing to fear
Cause Darling when you're close to me
It's heavenly
Just like a little girl alone and who's afraid
But then you came and I was saved
Now there's no lonely days
And no more all alone
Cause I never thought I find you
But I did
Heaven's made for you and me
I close my eyes
It's written in the stars above
And we will last eternity
Heaven's made for you and me
There's nothing to fear
Cause Darling when you're close to me
It's heavenly
