The Cover Version - Luna do "Bonnie & Clyde" (Live in BH, Brazil 2001)

Qu'est-c' qu'on a pas écrit. Sur elle et moi. On prétend que nous tuons. De sang-froid. C'est pas drôle, mais on est bien obligé, dde fair' tair' celui qui se met à gueuler.

Dean and Britta and a couple of other Luna-rs do a great version of the 1968 classic, nay seminal, slice of French pop - and tribute to the exploits of Clyde Barrow and Bonnie Parker - by Serge and Bardot!

Even though Dean and Britta's French sounds a tad like how Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau sounded when speaking English, they bring out the spirit of the song.

Luna, of course, included a cover of "Bonnie and Clyde" as a hidden track on their wonderful 1995 album 'Penthouse.'

The Music - Luna play "Lovedust" Live (2002)

I'm bad with faces, and worse with names. But the last one is happy. It's all the same. I set a trap for you, but I'm the one who's all caught up. Blinded by lovedust, this is what I saw .... a million, a billion, a trillion stars. A million a billion stars.

New Zealand's finest (not intending to damn with faint praise!) Mr. Dean Wareham and cohorts (including lovely missus Britta Phillips .... yeah, she's the hot blonde in the kinky boots!!) in one of my favourite bands of all time, the mighty (and mightily underrated) Luna knock out "Lovedust" from their 2002 album Romantica on late night TV in 2002

"Lovedust" is a truly gorgeous, enigmatic, blistering slice of power pop. In one reading a paean to getting high, it's really an ode to the joys and uncontrollable silliness of rapt love, a feeling captured in the playful and surreal lyrics here!

"I set a trap for you, but I'm the one who's all caught up" .. indeed!

Dean - who, of course, was a key part of the sublime Galaxie 500, another criminally underrated and hugely infuential outfit - is a truly wonderful songwriter and performer, who's still writing great stuff and performing with the missus as Dean & Britta.
