Television is an American rock band, formed in New York City in 1973 and considered influential in the development of punk and alternative music.
Television was an early fixture of CBGB and the 1970s New York rock scene. Although they recorded in a stripped-down, guitar-based manner similar to their punk contemporaries, the band's music was by comparison clean, improvisational, and technically proficient, drawing influence from avant-garde jazz and 1960s rock. The group's debut album, Marquee Moon, is often considered one of the defining releases of the punk era.
Television's roots can be traced to the teenage friendship between Tom Verlaine and Richard Hell. The duo met at Sanford School in Hockessin, Delaware, from which they ran away. Both moved to New York, separately, in the early 1970s, aspiring to be poets.
Their first group together was the Neon Boys, consisting of Verlaine on guitar and vocals, Hell on bass and vocals and Billy Ficca on drums. The group lasted from late 1972 to late 1973. A 7-inch record featuring "That's All I Know (Right Now)" and "Love Comes in Spurts" was released in 1980.

Television - Marquee Moon 1977 Marquee Moon Synopsis: Somewhere the line was inscribed in asphalt between punk and jam bands, and Television crossed it valiantly. At the forefront of this is their track Marquee Moon from the album of the same name. With the twin attack of Tom Verlaine and Richard Lloyd on guitar comes a rhythmical assault of punk that all gets turned on its head at the epic climax of this song. In concert, the band has sometimes extended the song to as long as fifteen minutes. Lyrics: I remember how the darkness doubled I recall lightning struck itself. I was listening listening to the rain I was hearing hearing something else. Life in the hive puckered up my night, the kiss of death, the embrace of life. There I stand neath the Marquee Moon Just waiting, Hesitating.....

Television, formed in New York City in 1973, is an American rock music band. Although Television never achieved mainstream commercial success, they are widely understood as one of the key founders of punk rock.
Richard Lloyd made his name as the guitarist for the underground rock band 'Television'. Having joined the band (Richard Hell - Bass, Vocals, Tom Verlaine - Guitar, Vocals, Billy Ficca - Drums) in 1973, he and Television manager Terry Ork discovered CBGB the following year - the club out of which American Punk music developed. Signed to Elektra in 1977, the band recorded two seminal albums - 'Marquee Moon' and 'Adventure', and despite the stature of these works now, at the time they failed to break Television into the big time, and they disbanded in 1978. In this interview Lloyd discusses the New York underground scene in the 1970s, Andy Warhol, CBGB and the host of acts who emerged there (including The Ramones), his time in Television and the UK Punk scene they inspired.

Kingdom Come is a song Television used to do live, but never released officially. Television's "Kingdom Come" is an entirely different song, both lyrically & musically, from another song called "Kingdom Come" that was on Tom's first solo album, a song David Bowie covered. About the only thing the two songs share in common is the same title. This recording is from a July 25, 1975 Television show at The Piccadilly Inn, Cleveland. The group lineup at this time included Fred Smith on bass, as Richard Hell had left the band earlier in '75. I've also uploaded to YT two other unreleased songs from this same show, "Poor Circulation" & "Hard On Love", plus "Breakin' In My Heart", which Tom later recorded on his '79 solo album "Tom Verlaine". And, from another show earlier in '75 when Hell...

16 alternate versions/studio outtakes from Television's 1978 album "Adventure" sessions. Only a couple of song recordings from this collection ("Glory" & "Ain't That Nothin'" alternate versions) ended up on the remastered official release "Adventure" CD with bonus tracks. Aside from alternate versions of songs from "Adventure," there's also the unreleased "Up All Night", & two other songs that never made it onto "Adventure", "Last Night", & "Grip of Love" which Tom later re-recorded & included on his first solo album, "Tom Verlaine," 1979. From a 1974 rehearsal when Richard Hell was in the band. Check out this other equally fine, early, rare Television recording, also from '74, "Horizontal Ascension": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tMSNmKV1sk Some (e.g. me) think "Horizontal Ascension" surpasses "I'm Gonna Find You." There are worthwhile early Television songs recorded that Richard Hell co-wrote & sings. It's too bad every time I try uploading any of them, they get spiked by a copyright infringement claim by "Richard Meyers" (Hell's real name). Bloody Hell! A bootleg called "Poor Circulation" contains many of these early, unreleased Television songs, including "I'm Gonna Find You," and including Hell-sung songs. It's available as a direct download in FLAC format here: http://www.4shared.com/zip/TLfBIhTu/Poor_Circulation...
Richard Hell is one of the founding fathers of Punk Music. Born Richard Meyers in Kentucky, after dropping out of school he moved to New York with literary ambitions. In 1972 he formed the band 'The Neon Boys' with his schoolfriend Tom Miller and drummer Billy Ficca. The following year the band became 'Television', with Meyers and Miller assuming the names Richard Hell and Tom Verlaine, and they recruited young guitarist Richard Lloyd. Television discovered the legendary CBGB, the club out of which American Punk music developed, in 1974. During his time in Television, Hell also developed a unique look, wearing battered and torn clothing, which was the key visual inspiration for the Sex Pistols. He left Television in 1975 and joined former New York Dolls Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan in ...

The Beatnigs were a San Francisco band, which combined Hard-core punk, industrial and hip hop influences, described as "a kind of avant-guard industrial jazz poets collective". The band was the initial collaboration of Michael Franti and Rono Tse, who would later form Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, with Franti going on to form Spearhead.
We met Trash Boat before the show in Vienna. Trash Boat (named after an episode of Regular Show) formed in the beginning of 2014 and is composed of vocalist Tobi Duncan, guitarists Dann Bostock and Ryan Hyslop, bassist James Grayson and drummer Oakley Moffatt. Despite a flurry of live activity, in the wake of their debut EP Look Alive, the pop punks had only recently completed their first full tour: a 10-date stint across Mainland Europe with As It Is and Trophy Eyes. As they gear up to bring their buoyant guitar licks and vocal melodies forth in EP number 2, the band played alongside Real Friends, Weatherstate and Nathan Detroit, with forthcoming dates seeing them play across the UK with Blood Youth and at prestigious festivals including Download and Hevy Festival. They have also been a...
