(U.S. Navy Future War Ships full documentary HD)
USS Independence (LCS-2) is the lead ship of the Independence-class littoral combat ship. She is the sixth ship of the United States Navy to be named for the concept of independence. The design was produced by the General Dynamics consortium for the Navy's LCS program, and competes with the Lockheed Martin-designed Freedom variant.USS Freedom (LCS 1) is the lead ship of the Freedom class of littoral combat ships (LCS). She is the third vessel of the United States Navy to be so named for the concept of freedom. She is the design competitor produced by the Lockheed Martin consortium, in competition with the General Dynamics-designed USS Independence. She was officially accepted by the Supervisor of Shipbuilding Gulf Coast on behalf of the US Navy from the Lockheed Martin/Marinette Marine/Gibbs and Cox team in Marinette, WI on 18 September 2008.
US Navy announces the nation's first Littoral Combat Ship will head to Southeast Asia on 1 March 2013.
After a rigorous and thorough review of its readiness, USS Freedom -- the nation's first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) -- was declared fit for duty in May 2012. Now, the U.S. Navy is ready to prove the ship's concept of operations in international waters.
The Navy recently announced Freedom will leave its home port in San Diego on March 1 and participate in a 10-month deployment to Southeast Asia.
"Freedom's maiden deployment is another clear signal of the Navy's enduring commitment to maintain security and stability in the vital Asia-Pacific region," said Adm. Cecil Haney, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. "Rotationally deploying our new littoral combat ships improves our warfighting capability and directly supports the Navy's rebalance strategy to the Asia-Pacific. Even in the face of potential budget cuts, there should be no doubt that the U.S. Pacific Fleet remains on watch and that we will continue to deploy our most capable units forward to operate with our allies and partners."
During deployment, Freedom will participate in Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training -- a series of joint military exercises conducted by U.S. Pacific Fleet with several member nations -- and other Theater Security Cooperation events. Deployment will allow Freedom to demonstrate its operational capabilities, as well as allow the Navy to evaluate crew rotation and maintenance plans.
Built by a Lockheed Martin-led industry team at Marinette Marine Corporation's shipyard in Wisconsin, Freedom successfully completed its first deployment in 2010, two years ahead of schedule.
This upcoming deployment also provides Freedom a chance to show off its new 4-color camouflage paint scheme, which was conceived and designed by the ship's Blue Crew. Freedom now bears a combination of flat black, haze gray, haze white and ocean gray colors. Originally, only the hull was painted.
It's a design that hasn't been seen on a larger U.S. combatant ship in many years. And while the design doesn't hide a ship from radars or other sensors, Cmdr. Dave Heinken, executive officer of the Blue Crew, said the new paint gives the ship an advantage.
"It could confuse their visual identification," Heinken said in a January 14 article in Defense News. "Any time you can confuse an enemy's targeting problem, create doubt about a ship's true heading or identity, you could gain an advantage."
Painting the ship was just one of the many projects completed by the Navy and the industry team to prepare the ship for deployment. During a four-week, 60,000 hour maintenance period that was completed on schedule, Freedom underwent preventive and facilities maintenance and also received a new stern ramp.
In addition to building Freedom and USS Fort Worth, which was commissioned in September 2012, the Lockheed Martin team's next three ships -- Milwaukee (LCS 5), Detroit (LCS 7) and Little Rock (LCS 9) -- are under construction, with long-lead construction materials being procured for Sioux City (LCS 11). A contract award for LCS 13 and 15 is anticipated later this year.
In addition to Marinette Marine Corporation, naval architect Gibbs & Cox and other domestic and international companies are part of the Lockheed Martin-led team.
Freedom will be initially manned by her "Gold" crew of 91 Sailors to include mission package personnel an aviation detachment to operate an embarked MH-60 helicopter.
Freedom is the first of three commissioned LCSs, which were designed to perform operations close to shore. LCSs are slightly smaller than guided missile frigates in size, but have the capabilities of a small assault transport with a flight deck and hangar, the ability to recover and launch small boats from a stern ramp, and enough cargo volume and payload to deliver a small assault force with armored fighting vehicles to a roll-on/roll-off port facility.

The U.S. Pacific Fleet announced that the Navy's first littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1) will depart her homeport of San Diego on March 1 and deploy to the Asia-Pacific region.
Making good on a pledge made initially by former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates at the 2011 Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Freedom will deploy to Southeast Asia and Singapore for approximately eight months. Marking the first of many planned rotational deployments to the Western Pacific for the new LCS platform, Freedom will conduct maritime security operations with regional partners and allies.

ARMA 3 is an open-world military tactical shooter video game developed by Czech studio Bohemia Interactive for Microsoft Windows. Liberty

US Navy announces the nation's first Littoral Combat Ship will head to Southeast Asia on 1 March 2013.
After a rigorous and thorough review of its readiness, USS Freedom -- the nation's first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) -- was declared fit for duty in May 2012. Now, the U.S. Navy is ready to prove the ship's concept of operations in international waters.
The Navy recently announced Freedom will leave its home port in San Diego on March 1 and participate in a 10-month deployment to Southeast Asia.
"Freedom's maiden deployment is another clear signal of the Navy's enduring commitment to maintain security and stability in the vital Asia-Pacific region," said Adm. Cecil Haney, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. "Rotationally deploying our new littoral combat ships improves our warfighting capability and directly supports the Navy's rebalance strategy to the Asia-Pacific. Even in the face of potential budget cuts, there should be no doubt that the U.S. Pacific Fleet remains on watch and that we will continue to deploy our most capable units forward to operate with our allies and partners."
During deployment, Freedom will participate in Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training -- a series of joint military exercises conducted by U.S. Pacific Fleet with several member nations -- and other Theater Security Cooperation events. Deployment will allow Freedom to demonstrate its operational capabilities, as well as allow the Navy to evaluate crew rotation and maintenance plans.
Built by a Lockheed Martin-led industry team at Marinette Marine Corporation's shipyard in Wisconsin, Freedom successfully completed its first deployment in 2010, two years ahead of schedule.
This upcoming deployment also provides Freedom a chance to show off its new 4-color camouflage paint scheme, which was conceived and designed by the ship's Blue Crew. Freedom now bears a combination of flat black, haze gray, haze white and ocean gray colors. Originally, only the hull was painted.
It's a design that hasn't been seen on a larger U.S. combatant ship in many years. And while the design doesn't hide a ship from radars or other sensors, Cmdr. Dave Heinken, executive officer of the Blue Crew, said the new paint gives the ship an advantage.
"It could confuse their visual identification," Heinken said in a January 14 article in Defense News. "Any time you can confuse an enemy's targeting problem, create doubt about a ship's true heading or identity, you could gain an advantage."
Painting the ship was just one of the many projects completed by the Navy and the industry team to prepare the ship for deployment. During a four-week, 60,000 hour maintenance period that was completed on schedule, Freedom underwent preventive and facilities maintenance and also received a new stern ramp.
In addition to building Freedom and USS Fort Worth, which was commissioned in September 2012, the Lockheed Martin team's next three ships -- Milwaukee (LCS 5), Detroit (LCS 7) and Little Rock (LCS 9) -- are under construction, with long-lead construction materials being procured for Sioux City (LCS 11). A contract award for LCS 13 and 15 is anticipated later this year.
In addition to Marinette Marine Corporation, naval architect Gibbs & Cox and other domestic and international companies are part of the Lockheed Martin-led team.
Freedom will be initially manned by her "Gold" crew of 91 Sailors to include mission package personnel an aviation detachment to operate an embarked MH-60 helicopter.
Freedom is the first of three commissioned LCSs, which were designed to perform operations close to shore. LCSs are slightly smaller than guided missile frigates in size, but have the capabilities of a small assault transport with a flight deck and hangar, the ability to recover and launch small boats from a stern ramp, and enough cargo volume and payload to deliver a small assault force with armored fighting vehicles to a roll-on/roll-off port facility.

アメリカ海軍の沿海域戦闘艦(LCS)。その名を持つ艦としては3隻目。本艦は正式採用を目指してロッキード・マーティンによって設計され、ジェネラル・ダイナミクスが設計したインディペンデンス (USS Independence, LCS-2) と競合した。艤装中の火災により就役が遅れたが、2008年9月18日に海軍によって公式に受領された。水深の浅い海域での様々な任務に用いられる目的で設計され、船体はモノハル設計で45ノット（83 km/h/52 mph）以上を発揮できる。最低限の自衛用装備のみを搭載して就役したが、要求される多様な任務に対応するため、各種の装備を追加搭載できるように考慮されている。前甲板のMk.110 57ミリ単装速射砲は、必要に応じて、Mk.41 VLSと交換可能である。これに合わせて、TRS-3Dレーダーも、AN/SPY-1K 多機能レーダーに換装できる。また、沿岸の敵地上目標に対する対地精密射撃のため、NLOS-LSシステムの搭載が考慮されている。NLOS-LSは、アメリカ陸軍の将来型戦闘システム（Future Combat Systems, FCS）計画と共同で開発されたもので、非装甲車輌、装甲車輌、掩蔽物、その他必要に応じた目標物に対して使用される。

After a rigorous and thorough review of its readiness, USS Freedom -- the nation's first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) -- was declared fit for duty in May 2012. Now, the U.S. Navy is ready to prove the ship's concept of operations in international waters.
The Navy recently announced Freedom will leave its home port in San Diego on March 1 and participate in a 10-month deployment to Southeast Asia.
"Freedom's maiden deployment is another clear signal of the Navy's enduring commitment to maintain security and stability in the vital Asia-Pacific region," said Adm. Cecil Haney, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. "Rotationally deploying our new littoral combat ships improves our warfighting capability and directly supports the Navy's rebalance strategy to the Asia-Pacific. Even in the face of potential budget cuts, there should be no doubt that the U.S. Pacific Fleet remains on watch and that we will continue to deploy our most capable units forward to operate with our allies and partners."
During deployment, Freedom will participate in Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training -- a series of joint military exercises conducted by U.S. Pacific Fleet with several member nations -- and other Theater Security Cooperation events. Deployment will allow Freedom to demonstrate its operational capabilities, as well as allow the Navy to evaluate crew rotation and maintenance plans.
Built by a Lockheed Martin-led industry team at Marinette Marine Corporation's shipyard in Wisconsin, Freedom successfully completed its first deployment in 2010, two years ahead of schedule.
This upcoming deployment also provides Freedom a chance to show off its new 4-color camouflage paint scheme, which was conceived and designed by the ship's Blue Crew. Freedom now bears a combination of flat black, haze gray, haze white and ocean gray colors. Originally, only the hull was painted.
It's a design that hasn't been seen on a larger U.S. combatant ship in many years. And while the design doesn't hide a ship from radars or other sensors, Cmdr. Dave Heinken, executive officer of the Blue Crew, said the new paint gives the ship an advantage.
"It could confuse their visual identification," Heinken said in a January 14 article in Defense News. "Any time you can confuse an enemy's targeting problem, create doubt about a ship's true heading or identity, you could gain an advantage."
Painting the ship was just one of the many projects completed by the Navy and the industry team to prepare the ship for deployment. During a four-week, 60,000 hour maintenance period that was completed on schedule, Freedom underwent preventive and facilities maintenance and also received a new stern ramp.
In addition to building Freedom and USS Fort Worth, which was commissioned in September 2012, the Lockheed Martin team's next three ships -- Milwaukee (LCS 5), Detroit (LCS 7) and Little Rock (LCS 9) -- are under construction, with long-lead construction materials being procured for Sioux City (LCS 11). A contract award for LCS 13 and 15 is anticipated later this year.
In addition to Marinette Marine Corporation, naval architect Gibbs & Cox and other domestic and international companies are part of the Lockheed Martin-led team.
Freedom will be initially manned by her "Gold" crew of 91 Sailors to include mission package personnel an aviation detachment to operate an embarked MH-60 helicopter.
Freedom is the first of three commissioned LCSs, which were designed to perform operations close to shore. LCSs are slightly smaller than guided missile frigates in size, but have the capabilities of a small assault transport with a flight deck and hangar, the ability to recover and launch small boats from a stern ramp, and enough cargo volume and payload to deliver a small assault force with armored fighting vehicles to a roll-on/roll-off port facility.

The U.S. Pacific Fleet announced that the Navy's first littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1) will depart her homeport of San Diego on March 1 and deploy to the Asia-Pacific region.
Making good on a pledge made initially by former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates at the 2011 Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Freedom will deploy to Southeast Asia and Singapore for approximately eight months. Marking the first of many planned rotational deployments to the Western Pacific for the new LCS platform, Freedom will conduct maritime security operations with regional partners and allies.
"Freedom's maiden deployment is another clear signal of the Navy's enduring commitment to maintain security and stability in the vital Asia-Pacific region," said Adm. Cecil Haney, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. "Rotationally deploying our new littoral combat ships improves our warfighting capability and directly supports the Navy's rebalance strategy to the Asia-Pacific.
