Special forces and special operations forces are military units trained to perform unconventional missions. Special forces, as they would now be recognised, emerged in the early 20th century, with a significant growth in the field during the Second World War.
Depending on the country, special forces may perform some of the following functions: airborne operations, counter-insurgency, "counter-terrorism", covert ops, direct action, hostage rescue, high-value targets/manhunting, intelligence operations, mobility operations, and unconventional warfare. The term “special forces” in the US refers to the US Army's forces while the term “special operation forces” refers to all units. In Russian-speaking countries special forces are typically called spetsnaz, an acronym for "special purpose". Likewise Russian speakers refer to special forces of other nations as spetsnaz, for example US Special Forces would be referred to as Amerikanski spetsnaz in Russian.
Special forces capabilities include the following:
The United States Naval Special Warfare Command (NAVSPECWARCOM), also known as NSWC, was commissioned on April 16, 1987 at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado in San Diego, California. As the Naval component of United States Special Operations Command; Naval Special Warfare Command provides vision, leadership, doctrinal guidance, resources and oversight to ensure component maritime special operations forces are ready to meet the operational requirements of combatant commanders.
Today's Naval Special Warfare operators can trace their origins to the Scouts and Raiders, Naval Combat Demolition Units, Office of Strategic Services Operational Swimmers, Underwater Demolition Teams, and Motor Torpedo Boat Squadrons of World War II. In the Vietnam era, the Navy drew most of its SEALs from the Underwater Demolition Teams; from the early 1960s up until 1983 the SEAL Teams and UDTs coexisted. Navy SEALs typically traced their origin to the Scouts and Raiders while the Underwater Demolition Teams traced theirs to the Navy Combat Demolition Units (the Navy drew its UDTs from NCDUs). However, in 1983 the Underwater Demolition Teams were merged with the SEAL Teams. This, in turn, merged their ancestry. While none of those early organizations have survived to present, their pioneering efforts in unconventional warfare are mirrored in the missions and professionalism of the present Naval Special Warfare warriors.
Special Warfare Command may refer to:
SEAL Team is a Vietnam War video game which was released by Electronic Arts for PC in 1993. It was the first ever tactical shooter game.
The game uses 3D vector and bitmap graphics of the modified LHX: Attack Chopper game engine to recreate 80 historical operations of the four-man US Navy SEAL teams in the Mekong Delta area of Vietnam. The game featured an unprecedented amount of realism and is referred to as "tactical combat simulation" by IGN.
Special operations (S.O.) are military operations that are "special" or unconventional and carried out by dedicated special forces units using unconventional methods and resources. Special operations may be performed independently of or in conjunction with conventional military operations. The primary goal is to achieve a political or military objective where a conventional force requirement does not exist or might adversely affect the overall strategic outcome. Special operations are usually conducted in a low-profile manner that aims to achieve the advantages of speed, surprise, and violence of action against an unsuspecting target. Special ops are typically carried out with limited numbers of highly trained personnel that are adaptable, self-reliant and able to operate in all environments, and able to use unconventional combat skills and equipment. Special operations are usually implemented through specific, tailored intelligence.

I admit. I am an absolute and rabid devotee of retired Navy SEAL Don Shipley and his wife Diane’s YouTube Channel BUDS 131. Prolegomenon. United States Navy's "Sea, Air, and Land" Teams, known to everyone as the Navy SEALs, are the U.S. Navy's primary and premiere special operations force and a component of the Naval Special Warfare Command. Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL (BUD/S) training involves superhuman determination and physical grit and to sport the SEAL Trident is a mark of distinction that Shipley et ux. find most disturbing when stolen by craven imposters. They have devoted countless hours targeting and exposing phony SEALS and calling attention to the scores of military imposters who claim falsely heroism and military intrepidity through stolen valor. But despite these fac...
U.S. Navy SEALs are an elite unit, more exclusive and harder to be admitted to than the U.S. Marines. The United States Marine Corps (also known as USMC or Marines) is one of the 5 branches of the U.S. military under the Department of Defense. It was created in 1775 as a special service. Although it is part of the U.S. Navy, it has its own special structure. Navy SEALs on the other hand are the U.S. Navy's main special operations force. They're part of the Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC) and are the maritime component of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM). "SEAL" is derived from their capacity to operate at SEa, in the Air, and on Land – but it's their ability to work underwater that separates SEALs from most other military units in the world. ====================...
