Backwater or Backwaters may refer to:
A documentary film is a nonfictional motion picture intended to document some aspect of reality, primarily for the purposes of instruction or maintaining a historical record. Such films were originally shot on film stock—the only medium available—but now include video and digital productions that can be either direct-to-video, made into a TV show or released for screening in cinemas. "Documentary" has been described as a "filmmaking practice, a cinematic tradition, and mode of audience reception" that is continually evolving and is without clear boundaries.
In popular myth, the word documentary was coined by Scottish documentarian John Grierson in his review of Robert Flaherty's film Moana (1926), published in the New York Sun on 8 February 1926, written by "The Moviegoer" (a pen name for Grierson).
Grierson's principles of documentary were that cinema's potential for observing life could be exploited in a new art form; that the "original" actor and "original" scene are better guides than their fiction counterparts to interpreting the modern world; and that materials "thus taken from the raw" can be more real than the acted article. In this regard, Grierson's definition of documentary as "creative treatment of actuality" has gained some acceptance, with this position at variance with Soviet film-maker Dziga Vertov's provocation to present "life as it is" (that is, life filmed surreptitiously) and "life caught unawares" (life provoked or surprised by the camera).
The Kerala backwaters are a chain of brackish lagoons and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian Sea coast (known as the Malabar Coast) of Kerala state in southern India. The network includes five large lakes linked by canals, both manmade and natural, fed by 38 rivers, and extending virtually half the length of Kerala state. The backwaters were formed by the action of waves and shore currents creating low barrier islands across the mouths of the many rivers flowing down from the Western Ghats range.
The Kerala Backwaters are a network of interconnected canals, rivers, lakes and inlets, a labyrinthine system formed by more than 900 km of waterways, and sometimes compared to the American Bayou. In the midst of this landscape there are a number of towns and cities, which serve as the starting and end points of backwater cruises.National Waterway 3 from Kollam to Kottapuram, covers a distance of 205 km and runs almost parallel to the coast line of southern Kerala facilitating both cargo movement and backwater tourism. The important rivers from north to south are; Valapattanam river (110 km.), Chaliar (69 km.), Kadalundipuzha (130 km.), Bharathapuzha (209 km.), Chalakudy river (130 km.), Periyar (244 km), Pamba (176 km), Achancoil (128 km.) and Kalladayar (121 km.). Other than these, there are 35 more small rivers and rivulets flowing down from the Ghats. Most of these rivers are navigable up to the midland region, in country crafts.
Kerala (/ˈkɛrələ/), historically known as Keralam, is a state in South India on the Malabar coast. It was formed on 1 November 1956 following the States Reorganisation Act by combining Malayalam-speaking regions. Spread over 38,863 km2 (15,005 sq mi), it is bordered by Karnataka to the north and northeast, Tamil Nadu to the east and south, and the Lakshadweep Sea to the west. With 33,387,677 inhabitants as per the 2011 Census, Kerala is the thirteenth largest state by population and is divided into 14 districts with the capital being Thiruvananthapuram. Malayalam is the most widely spoken and the official language of the state.
The region was a prominent spice exporter since 3000 BCE. The Chera Dynasty was the first prominent kingdom based in Kerala, though it frequently struggled against attacks by the neighbouring Cholas and Pandyas. In the 15th century, the spice trade attracted Portuguese traders to Kerala, and paved the way for the European colonisation of India. After independence, Travancore and Cochin joined the Republic of India and Travancore-Cochin was given the status of a state in 1949. In 1956, Kerala state was formed by merging Malabar district, Travancore-Cochin (excluding four southern taluks), and the taluk of Kasargod, South Kanara.

You Should Subscribe Here Now: http://bit.ly/VErZkw Here's the video for "Backwaters," from Drenge. Drenge are a brotherly duo from a village outside Sheffield called Castleton who play gnarly Brit rock you can really seethe to. They spent their childhood, "just in fields, drinking" so their new video for "Backwaters" is an homage to that time. It's full of fireside agression and swigs of Kirov. We predict big things for them, although when we said that to singer Rory, he replied "yeah, just as soon as we scrape together the bus fare to get out of Castleton." "Backwaters" is released July 1st on Mad Mark / Infectious. http://www.phenomenalplace.com The Backwaters of Alappuzha (Alleppey) is located in the South Indian state of Kerala. It is a popular tourist destination where people spend a day or two in houseboats and enjoy the pristine natural beauty. Aleppey is considered to be the oldest city of Kerala and is often known as the "Venice Of The East". The reason for this name is of course, due to so much interconnecting water "highways" and the number of boats. There are thousands of boats in Alappuzha and they come in all sizes. The backwaters of Kerala are a chain of lagoons, and lakes lying parallel to the Arabian sea coast. The backwaters consist of 5 large lakes linked by canals and fed by 38 different rivers. This forms almost 560 miles of waterways, spanning to almost half of Kerala. Such a v...

"A lonely island, a boatman draining water from his boat, a man shows up wishing to travel through the backwaters, they gradually start floating on water, the dense mangroves, singing birds, silent breeze, the traveler is mirrored by his trauma, identifies himself as a writer with a block, desperate for inspiration he asks the boatman for a story, and the boatman tells him a story. GottoDoIndia picks out fun activities to try out in Kochi, India and make your holiday enjoyable. In this video, watch the host, Sherry, go on a canoe ride and talk about her experience. The canoe ride boat trip is perfect for taking a Kochi backwaters tour. The ride is extremely pleasant with the canoe passing through narrow tunnels and beautiful tree-lined banks. The host informs us that a canoe is a better mode of transport if you wish to explore Kochi's backwaters because it is narrower than a houseboat and can pass effortlessly through tunnels. During the ride, we get to see much natural beauty as the banks are lined with tall, shady trees and you can hear the cheerful chirping of birds and insects. We also get to see locals carrying out their regular chores, giving us a taste of the...

Too High to Die is the eighth album by the Meat Puppets, released on January 25, 1994. This album sold very well due to the success of its single "Backwater", which reached #2 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The album itself also reached #1 on the Heatseekers chart, making it one of the Meat Puppets' most successful albums. The album's title is a parody of The Ramones' 1984 album Too Tough to Die. I used a trial version of Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 15 for editing.

Once again I'm hiding in backwaters
Running this way and that
Trying so very hard to please
(Beware of hidden snares)
Rushing to bite the hand that feeds me
Running this way and that
(There are always other possibilities)
