Police confirm body found is missing woman Naima Hassan

Queensland police have confirmed a body found in Brisbane's south-east belongs to missing woman Naima Hassan.

Members of the public found the body at the Sovereign Waters foreshore at Birkdale about 5.20pm on Tuesday.

Police established a crime scene and guarded it overnight as investigators awaited the results of a post-mortem examination and scientific testing to confirm the woman's identity and what caused her death.

On Wednesday afternoon, police confirmed the body belonged to the missing 27-year-old.

Ms Hassan was last seen by family members on Saturday morning.

She was later spotted at the BP at Wellington Point, while her car was found at the Wellington Point Reserve on Sunday.

Police confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances and were preparing a report for the coroner.
