The Seekers are an Australian folk-influenced pop quartet, originally formed in Melbourne in 1962. They were the first Australian pop music group to achieve major chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States. They were popular during the 1960s with their best-known configuration as: Judith Durham on vocals, piano and tambourine; Athol Guy on double bass and vocals; Keith Potger on twelve-string guitar, banjo and vocals; and Bruce Woodley on guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocals.
The group had Top 10 hits in the 1960s with "I'll Never Find Another You", "A World of Our Own", "Morningtown Ride", "Someday, One Day" (written by Paul Simon), "Georgy Girl" (the title song of the film of the same name), and "The Carnival Is Over" by Tom Springfield, the last being an adaptation of the Russian folk song "Stenka Razin". The Seekers have sung it at various closing ceremonies in Australia, including World Expo 88 and the Paralympics. It is still one of the top 50 best-selling singles in the UK. Australian music historian Ian McFarlane described their style as "concentrated on a bright, uptempo sound, although they were too pop to be considered strictly folk and too folk to be rock."
The Seekers, or Legatine-Arians as they were sometimes known, were a British Protestant dissenting group that emerged around the 1620s, probably inspired by the preaching of three brothers – Walter, Thomas, and Bartholomew Legate. Seekers considered all organised churches of their day corrupt and preferred to wait for God's revelation. Many of them subsequently joined the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers).
Long before the English Civil War there already existed what Hill calls a "lower-class heretical culture" in England. The cornerstones of this culture were anti-clericalism and a strong emphasis on Biblical study, but specific doctrines that had "an uncanny persistence"; rejection of Predestination, Millenarianism, mortalism, anti-Trinitarianism and Hermeticism. Such ideas became "commonplace to seventeenth century Baptists, Seekers, early Quakers and other radical groupings which took part in the free-for-all discussions of the English Revolution."
Judith Mavis Durham AO (born Judith Mavis Cock; 3 July 1943) is an Australian singer and musician who became the lead vocalist for the Australian popular folk music group The Seekers in 1963. The group subsequently became the first Australian pop music group to achieve major chart and sales success in the United Kingdom and the United States, and as of 2004 had sold over 50 million records. Durham left the group in mid-1968 to pursue her solo career. In 1993, Durham began to make sporadic recordings and performances with The Seekers, though she remains primarily a solo performer. On 1 July 2015, she was named Victorian of the Year for her services to music and a range of charities.
Durham was born in Essendon, Victoria, to William Alexander Cock DFC, a navigator and World War II pathfinder, and his wife, Hazel (née Durham). From her birth until 1949, Durham spent summer holidays at her family's weatherboard house on the west side of Durham Place in Rosebud, which has been demolished. A myth has circulated that "Morningtown Ride" was prompted by these holidays and the nearby town of Mornington. However, Durham has stated that the song was written by American songwriter Malvina Reynolds and that the lyrics refer to sweet dreams rather than the Mornington Peninsula. Durham lived in Hobart, Tasmania, where she attended the Fahan School before moving back to Melbourne in 1956. In Melbourne, she was educated at Ruyton Girls' School and then enrolled at RMIT.
A golden jubilee is a celebration held to mark a 50th anniversary.
The golden jubilee is a royal ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the accession of the king. The Thai word is kanchanaphisek (กาญจนาภิเษก). The first Golden Jubilee of Thailand was the celebration of King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
King Rama IX celebrated his golden jubilee on 9 June 1996, having acceded to the throne in 1946 which makes him Thailand's longest-reigning monarch and the longest-living monarch today.
The largest faceted diamond in the world, known as the Golden Jubilee Diamond, was purchased as a gift for the King on the 50th anniversary of his coronation by Thai businessmen. Currently, the diamond is located in the Royal Thai Palace as part of the crown jewels.
In 1996, Banharn Silpa-archa, the Prime Minister, and the Thai people celebrated the King with a large celebration, lasting several days.
The symbol of the golden jubilee of King Bhumibol Adulyadej was designed by Wiyada Charoensuk, who won the contest for the design.
A greatest hits album, sometimes called a "best of" album or a catalog album, is a compilation of songs by a particular artist or band. Most often the track list contains previously released recordings with a high degree of notability. However, to increase the appeal, especially to people who already own the original release, it is common to include remixes and/or alternate takes of popular songs; even new material (previously unreleased). At times a greatest hits compilation is the original release for songs that have themselves been released as a single and charted successfully.
Madonna's The Immaculate Collection is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a solo artist; all of the songs on it are presented in different versions than the original hit versions. The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975) is the best selling greatest hits compilation by a group and also one of the ten best selling albums in history. Greatest hits albums are typically produced after an artist has had enough successful songs to fill out an album release. Some artists, such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, Kenny Rogers, Aerosmith, Kiss, U2, Dolly Parton, Journey, Los Tigres del Norte, Queen, Kylie Minogue and Billy Joel, have released multiple greatest hits albums through their long careers. Some greatest hits albums are released only at the end of the artist or group's career. For example, My Chemical Romance released a greatest hits album after they disbanded. Other artists, like Eminem have released hits albums in the center of their success. He released Curtain Call: The Hits in 2005 and then Shady XV as a compilation album in 2014.

PLEASE NOTE My first video upload of The Seekers 25 Year Reunion Concert is being blocked from being viewed in the following countries: Bermuda, Canada, Japan, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, United States, United States Minor Outlying Islands. EMI copyright lawyers seem to have done this because they have a hold on audio content of " I,ll Never find Another You" film footage from the sixties which was included in the original video. A few seconds of black & white footage was sufficient for EMI to totally block the whole video of the original 1993 concert from being seen in the above countries. Back in 1967, when The Seekers returned home to Australia for a visit, little did they know that their free concert at the Myer Music Bowl in their home town of Melbourne would break attendance records for the Southern hemisphere and TV ratings records for Australia! (continued...) The concert forms part of the DVD 'The Seekers at Home and Down Under'. The group sang live on the day, but because no promo video existed for the original (1966) hit version of the song, it is this which I've used for the audio, extending the video to include the middle 8 bars. The DVD with the live audio, (along with all The Seekers' hits and much more) is available to buy on Amazon. STOP PRESS: Keith Perron, 4th.December 2012. All I can say is the BBC is trying to locate the best copy of it so the colour can be restored. A number of B&W; prints were sent out to foreign TV stations after it was done and they have been able to local 14 copies. The next thing is locating the stereo recording of the audio that was made during the show. The original plan was to release it as an LP, which never happened. But it seems that the original master either now belongs to EMI or Sony Music. The plan is to release it in stereo. peteinoz Quote: A couple of things I want to say about this show. It will categorically NOT be released on DVD. The VHS release only came about through the temerity of one man, Graham Simpson, who invested a huge amount of unpaid time and agony o...
The video is from 'The World of The Seekers' DVD (1968). Written by Tom Springfield. I've used the original audio (from 1965), to enhance the clip so that it plays at the correct speed / pitch and in stereo. It's clear from the videos (taken in Australia and London) that they were in great form for their 50th anniversary, but no DVD has been released. From The Seekers farewell concert July 7 1968 at the BBC in London. The last time they sang this song as a group in the sixties. I hope these few videos give you good memories and can help to keep their songs and music alive.We can not let them be forgotten. I'll never find another you is composed by Tom Springfield and was recorded at Abbey Road studioes in London november 4 1964. "I'll never find another you" was to become their first number one hit in the UK 1965. And by the way,Judith overslept and got late to the studio that day :) I'll Never Find Another You There's a new world somewhere they call the promised land, And I'll be there someday if you will hold my hand. I still need you there beside me, no matter what I do, For I know I'll never find another you. There is always ...

Recorded in November 2001, The Seekers promote their newly released christmas album. Also included is a performance of 'Morningtown Ride To Christmas'.
Part 1 of an interview with Keith Potger of the Seekers. Until the Seekers finally disbanded in 2004, Keith was guitarist, vocalist, vocal arranger and banjo player with the group. This first segment deals with Keith's life up to 1963 when Judith Durham joined The Seekers. Interviewer is Wendy Stapleton, herself an Australian music identity whose credits include the acclaimed stage show "I Only Want To Be With You - The Dusty Springfield Story". Taken from the Channel 31 (community TV) show "Wrok Down", first aired June 7, 2008.
A interview with all four members of The Seekers. Done around 1993/94
Allan's interview with The Seekers filmed at their rehearsal in Wellington New Zealand..this afternoon.....Just the best Group ever for anyone who has seen them live in England like me...Still cannot understand why they did no interviews here...and none of the sell out concerts ether were filmed for DVD..a big loss and mistake by there management....especially as this was there 50 Anniversary and they are in the Guinness Book of records for being the longest surviving group with all the original members still together..
Interview with music from the 60's and rehearsals for 'Future Road', Judith Durham playing "Maple leaf rag", Bruce Woodley singing "I am Australian", Athol Guy on his quiz show and Keith Potger talking about forming The New Seekers. Visit http://www.telinco.com/Seekers for more info on The Seekers.

The Seekers on Melbourne radio, reminiscing about their early days and talking about their upcoming 'Golden Jubilee Tour'.
As of 29th.March 2012, I shall upload this copy of the concert without the black & white clip & see what happens. Dont these people understand what increased sales of albums are made from You T...

We share in the making of The Seekers first studio album in 30 years. More timeless classics are captured here, bringing melody & feel-good rythms which are the internationally celebrated group's trademark qualities. Here is a private glimse of studio life in 1997 interspersed with historic 60's footage of the group - as we are taken behind the scenes with Judith, Athol, Keith & Bruce during the recording of future favourites like Calling Me Home, The Bush Girl, The Shores Of Avalon & Speak To The Sky along with the familiar Buddy Holly hit It Doesn't Matter Any More . All over the world, people must meet and part;
There's someone like me feeling the pain in their heart.
Some may meet again under that same white star,
If maybe some night you come back from afar.
Who cares if tonight I don't know where you are?
Are you thinking of me now,
Missing having me around?
If you have forgotten me,
My world will come tumbling down.
All over the world, others are sad tonight;
There's someone like me watching the sun's fading light.
All over the sky there is the same warm glow;
Here under that star I'm wanting you to know,
