Billboard is an entertainment media brand owned by The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group. It publishes news, video, opinion, reviews, events and style. It is known for music charts, including the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200, tracking the most popular songs and albums in different genres. It also hosts events, owns a publishing firm, and operates several TV shows.
Billboard was founded in 1894 by William Donaldson and James Hennegan as a trade publication for bill posters. Donaldson later acquired Hennegen's interest in 1900 for $500. In the 1900s, it covered the entertainment industry, such as circuses, fairs and burlesque shows. It also created a mail service for travelling entertainers. Billboard began focusing more on the music industry as the jukebox, phonograph and radio became commonplace. Many topics it covered were spun-off into different magazines, including Amusement Business in 1961 to cover outdoor entertainment, so that it could focus on music.
A billboard (also called a hoarding in the UK and many other parts of the world) is a large outdoor advertising structure (a billing board), typically found in high-traffic areas such as alongside busy roads. Billboards present large advertisements to passing pedestrians and drivers. Typically showing large, ostensibly witty slogans, and distinctive visuals, billboards are highly visible in the top designated market areas.
The largest standard-size billboards, known as Bulletins, are located primarily on major highways, expressways or principal arterials, and command high-density consumer exposure (mostly to vehicular traffic). Bulletins afford greatest visibility due not only to their size, but because they allow creative "customizing" through extensions and embellishments.
Posters are the other common form of billboard advertising, located mostly along primary and secondary arterial roads. Posters are a smaller format than bulletins and are viewed principally by residents and commuter traffic, with some pedestrian exposure.
A shoot in professional wrestling is any unplanned, unscripted or real-life occurrence within a wrestling event. The name does not originate from "shooting in" for a takedown, as in amateur wrestling, but rather, it is a carny term shortened from "straight shooting" which originally referred to a gun in a carnival target shooting game which did not have its sights fixed (terminology such as this reflecting the professional wrestling industry's roots in traveling carnivals). This term has come to mean a legit attack or fight in professional wrestling and its meaning has broadened to include unscripted events in general. The opposite of a shoot is a work.
Professional wrestling is staged entertainment rather than a sports competition. As such, virtually everything in pro wrestling is worked (a part of the show), and shoots rarely occur. Shoots in general are against the nature of the business, similar to an actor ad-libbing or dropping character during a performance. Performers who shoot during a wrestling event are often punished (often by lower pay or relegation to opening bouts) or even fired, since it is thought that they cannot be trusted to act according to the bookers' wishes. Shoots can also occur when wrestlers stop cooperating in a match. This may occur to teach one of the wrestlers "a lesson" for whatever reason.
The Billboard Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for singles, published weekly by Billboard magazine. Chart rankings are based on radio play, online streaming, and sales (physical and digital).
The weekly sales period was originally Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but since July 2015, this has been changed from Friday to Thursday. Radio airplay, which unlike sales figures and streaming data, is readily available on a real-time basis and is tracked on a Monday to Sunday cycle (it was previously Wednesday to Tuesday). A new chart is compiled and officially released to the public by Billboard on Tuesdays. Example:
The Latest is the sixteenth studio album by the American power pop band Cheap Trick. The album was produced by Cheap Trick, Julian Raymond and Howard Willing and was released on June 23, 2009. The album was issued on standard CD as well as limited pressings of vinyl and 8-Track tapes. The album was released to retailers on July 21, 2009. "The Latest" debuted at number 78 on Billboard's Top 200 Charts.
A video for the cover of Slade's "When The Lights Are Out" has been released. The song was released exclusively through iTunes Australia in November, 2008. The video is also available for viewing via the band's YouTube page. A video was also made for "Sick Man of Europe".
The track "Sleep Forever" was written in memory of a friend who died, "Miss Tomorrow" was originally a B-side from Robin Zander's eponymous 1993 solo album, taken from the "Show Me Heaven" single, whilst "Sick Man of Europe" was one of the band names used by Nielsen and Petersson in the early 1970s. "Everyday You Make Me Crazy" was originally written by the band as a Pepsi jingle from 1995. and "Alive" is a re-worked version of "What's In It For You", an outtake from the band's previous 2006 album Rockford.

Miley Cyrus takes to Instagram amid backlash from her recent interview with Billboard. When Miley was asked about her musical influences she mentioned hip hop and then explained why she's taken a step back from the genre. She praised Kenrick Lamar and his song "Humble" for it's deep lyrics. She went on to say "I love that because it’s not 'Come sit on my d. I can’t listen to that anymore. That’s what pushed me out of the hip-hop scene a little. It was too much 'Lamborghini, got my Rolex, got a girl —I am so not that." Do yo believe Miley's apology or do you think its an act or hey...do you think she needed to apologize in the first place. Talk it out right down there in the comments. Odd Future had an incredible SXSW. After covering Billboard Magazine, they took to Texas where they performed at a slew of showcases. They were the talk of Austin, and dubbed the future of Hip Hop by P. Diddy during a surprise Fader Fort appearance. On Saturday night the crew performed at The Billboard showcase, which was heavily hyped. Odd Future was not so impressed, and let Billboard know their feelings before abruptly ending their set. Check it out in this video from RubyHornet.com.
Nowadays, everyone carries a smartphone. So why not turn these devices into the speakers of our magazine? Billboard is now the first music magazine that actually plays music. It transmits an interactive playlist with the artists on the cover directly to the consumers’ mobile phones: wireless, with no QR codes or Bluetooth required.
Transfertype (or letraset) version of the 2011 Billboard magazine campaign. Type design was done by Marcos Medeiros i just turned it into Letraset sheets for the magazine inserts.

Music. See what it’s made of. A campaign for Billboard that shows how much the magazine knows about the pop music universe. Artists were shown as compositions created from their most important influences, demonstrating that each one of them is actually made of many other artists. The project: On the web, consumers had the chance to see they’re also made of music. Last.fm users received a link from Billboard in their inboxes. By clicking it, they could see their profile picture recreated using images of their favorite artists. And that image was on the Billboard cover – subscribers got their posters free of charge.
