Who we are & what we do
Democratic Socialists believe that both the economy and society should be run democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. We are a political and activist organization, not a party; through campus and community-based chapters DSA members use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people.
Emergency Post-Charlottesville Response
DSA condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the white supremacist, racist, anti-Semitic terrorist attack on our comrades in the DSA, the ISO, IWW, Antifa and all others who joined forces in the streets of Charlottesville, VA. You can read our National Political committee’s full statement here.
The Movement for Black Lives has called for a national day of action this Saturday, August 19th, at symbols of white supremacy across the country. The neo-fascists are also mobilizing, for “free speech” actions this weekend. And people everywhere will be looking to groups like DSA for a community of support and ways to take action.
