Dublin (/ˈdʌblᵻn/, Irish: Baile Átha Cliath [blʲaːˈklʲiəh]) is the capital and largest city of Ireland. Dublin is in the province of Leinster on Ireland's east coast, at the mouth of the River Liffey. The city has an urban area population of 1,273,069. The population of the Greater Dublin Area, as of 2011, was 1,801,040 persons.
Founded as a Viking settlement, the Kingdom of Dublin became Ireland's principal city following the Norman invasion. The city expanded rapidly from the 17th century and was briefly the second largest city in the British Empire before the Acts of Union in 1800. Following the partition of Ireland in 1922, Dublin became the capital of the Irish Free State, later renamed Ireland.
Dublin is administered by a City Council. The city is listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a global city, with a ranking of "Alpha-", placing it among the top thirty cities in the world. It is a historical and contemporary centre for education, the arts, administration, economy and industry.
Ireland (i/ˈaɪərlənd/; Irish: Éire [ˈeːɾʲə]; Ulster-Scots: Airlann [ˈɑːrlən]) is an island in the North Atlantic. It is separated from Great Britain to its east by the North Channel, the Irish Sea, and St George's Channel. Ireland is the second-largest island of the British Isles, the third-largest in Europe, and the twentieth-largest on Earth.
Politically, Ireland is divided between the Republic of Ireland (officially named Ireland), which covers five-sixths of the island, and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, and located in the northeast of the island. In 2011 the population of Ireland was about 6.4 million, ranking it the second-most populous island in Europe after Great Britain. Just under 4.6 million live in the Republic of Ireland and just over 1.8 million live in Northern Ireland.
The island's geography comprises relatively low-lying mountains surrounding a central plain, with several navigable rivers extending inland. The island has lush vegetation, a product of its mild but changeable climate which avoids extremes in temperature. Thick woodlands covered the island until the Middle Ages. As of 2013, the amount of land that is wooded in Ireland is about 11% of the total, compared with a European average of 35%. There are 26 extant mammal species native to Ireland. The Irish climate is very moderated and classified as oceanic. As a result, winters are milder than expected for such a northerly area. However, summers are cooler than those in Continental Europe. Rainfall and cloud cover are abundant.

So this week we're excited to be exploring Dublin and we're planning to spend an entire week here. This video is going to highlight 25 things to do around the city. Dublin is where most trips in Ireland begin, so before seeing the rest of the country, Audrey and I spent a whole week getting to know the capital. When the weather cooperated we walked around the city, toured Trinity College, and visited the botanical gardens, and when it poured rain as it often does in this part of the world, we just popped into a pub for some Irish stew and a pint of Guinness. The following video will show you a few of the different things to do in Dublin, Ireland. Despite a long and sometimes tragic history of invasion and resistance, this thriving business capital has poetry, music and literature percolating through its cobblestones. Dubliner, Oscar Wilde once said “life is too important to be taken seriously.” While Dublin proudly honours its past, it is equally passionate about enjoying each and every new day. Nowhere is life celebrated more than in the city’s nearly 700 pubs. Nothing matters more to Dubliners than having a good time or, as locals call it, the craic. Of all the gifts, Dublin has given to the world, perhaps the most intoxicating are its stories. Filmed at the end of the 2 day F-Stop Academy Cinematography workshop in Dublin when we were in wind down mode. Shot on a pre-production Canon 7d. I took the Canon 7d, Zacuto Tactical rig, Z-Finder V2 and one lone lens, a Canon 35mm f1.4, which becomes more like a 50mm lens on the 7d. So a bit like what I did with Sofia's People (but I didn't have the Zacuto rig for that). I shot 1/50th of a second as I was shooting 24p and to match the 50hz frequency of the artificial all around me in Temple Bar. I also shot some stuff 720p 50p with shutter at 1/100th to get the slow motion shots of the juggler which were conformed to 23.98p in Cinema tools to create the beautiful slow motion. Sound on the last bit was just the internal mono cam mic as I didn't want a big mic on top of the camera. B...

A Short Film about Dublin City, my home city. Over the years I've accumulated quite a bit of footage of Dublin City and I wanted to do something with it so I began putting this little video together a while ago. I've been playing with the edit on and off for months, spending few hours here and there tweaking. There is footage spanning the last 5 years or so, shot on lots of different cameras and It's not in any way meant to be a comprehensive look at Dublin. Instead it's a visual poem of sorts, showing a peaceful and pretty side of the city as I see it.
Chain Reaction BMX Team Irish road trip 2012! Chain Reaction BMX Team edit time. Dan, Scott and Ben took a trip over to Ireland and hooked up with local bike legend and designated tour guide Peter Adam. They travelled across Ireland for a week-long trip blasting the concrete parks and sessioning the streets of Limerick, Dublin, Galway and Belfast. Joined along the way by some of the local riders and the normal skatepark groms they unleashed their no-nonsense brand of riding with loads of grind and nose wheelie variations. Check out their latest edit right now. Filmed and edited by Peter Adam with music from 'Girls Names'. Music Song: I Lose Artist: Girls Names http://myspace.com/girlsnames

Travel video about destination Dublin in Ireland. Dublin is the capital of the Irish Republic and is a city of musicians, poets and dreamers. Its Georgian buildings, whisky distilleries and historic castles are tangible and colorful reminders of bygone times. Numerous well preserved buildings, cafes, churches and idyllic canals also add to the captivating atmosphere of this fun loving city. One of the city's main landmarks is a splendid structure, Halfpenny Bridge, which derived its name due to a toll that was once extracted from those who crossed it. Dublin Castle is one of the city's oldest buildings. It has seen much transformation and is a combination of several building styles. After the Vikings, the Normans conquered the city and ruled over it for 700 years and under King Henry VI...

In Part Two of my travel guide to Dublin, I head off the beaten path. I begin by visiting an international graffiti festival, move on to listen to some local music at a private show, then finish off by heading north to the town of Malahide to visit a famed castle and to take in some incredible views of the Irish coastline.
Dublin is one of the world's most popular travel destinations, and a few days spent there shows why. In Part One of my travel guide to Dublin, I tour the city's number one attraction, the Guinness Storehouse, go in search of the bar that serves the best pint, visit prestigious Trinity College, and head out into the famed nightlife that is Dublin after dark.

Sankha Guha (www.sankhaguha.com) and Magenta Devine present. Programme as broadcast. First transmitted on BBC2 in 1988 - the third episode in Series 1 BUT the first programme to be recorded. Dublin was in effect the pilot for the show and set the template for the many Rough Guide series to follow. This is the real thing. Do not confuse with a witless Ch 5 attempted 'remake' bearing the same name - which had nothing to do with the original ground breaking Rough Guide series on BBC2. This is what they say about the original Rough Guide TV series: "Sankha and Magenta made an effective duo, sweeping round the continent with just the right amount of knowing humour and flair and unafraid to jump from the most serious to the most trivial of topics in seconds." I also shot some stuff 720p 50p with shutter at 1/100th to get the slow motion shots of the juggler which were conformed to 23.98p in Cinema tools to create the beautiful slow motion. Sound on the last bit was just the internal mono cam mic as I didn't want a big mic on top of the camera. B...

Dublin has a rich history of hand painted signs decorating the city. Although it is not as common today, the craft still continues.
