Montrose may refer to:
Ronald Douglas "Ronnie" Montrose (29 November 1947 – 3 March 2012) was an American rock guitarist, who led the bands Montrose (1973-77 & 1987) and Gamma (1979-83 & 2000) and also performed and did session work with a variety of musicians, including Van Morrison (1971–72), Herbie Hancock (1971), Beaver & Krause (1971), Boz Scaggs (1971), Edgar Winter (1972 & 1996), Gary Wright (1975), The Beau Brummels (1975), Dan Hartman (1976), Tony Williams (1978), The Neville Brothers (1987), Marc Bonilla (1991 & 1993), Sammy Hagar (1997), and Johnny Winter. The first Montrose album was often cited as "America's answer to Led Zeppelin" and Ronnie Montrose was often referred to as one of the most influential guitarists in American hard rock.
Montrose was born in San Francisco, California. When he was a toddler, his parents moved back to his mother's home state of Colorado (his father was from Bertrand, Nebraska, and his mother was from Golden, Colorado). He spent most of his younger years in Denver, Colorado until he ran away at about 16 years old to pursue his musical career. He ultimately spent most of his life in the San Francisco Bay area.
Samuel Roy "Sammy" Hagar (born October 13, 1947), also known as The Red Rocker, is an American rock vocalist, guitarist, songwriter and musician. Hagar came to prominence in the 1970s with the hard rock band Montrose. He afterwards launched a successful solo career, scoring an enduring hit in 1984 with "I Can't Drive 55". He enjoyed huge commercial success when he replaced David Lee Roth as the lead singer of Van Halen in 1985, but left the band in 1996. He returned to the band for a 2-year reunion from 2003 to 2005. On March 12, 2007, Hagar was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen. His musical style primarily consists of hard rock and heavy metal.
Outside of music, he founded the Cabo Wabo Tequila brand and restaurant chain, as well as Sammy's Beach Bar Rum. His present musical project is lead singer of Chickenfoot.
Sammy Hagar was named after his maternal grandfather, Sam Roy. Hagar was born in Salinas, California. He is of Lebanese descent. His family soon moved to Fontana, where his father worked at the Kaiser Steel Mill. Sammy Hagar graduated from Fontana High School.
A scooter or motor scooter is a motorcycle with step-through frame and a platform for the rider's feet. Elements of scooter design have been present in some of the earliest motorcycles, and motorcycles identifiable as scooters have been made from 1914 or earlier. Scooter development continued in Europe and the United States between the World Wars.
The global popularity of scooters dates from the post-World War II introductions of the Vespa and the Lambretta. These scooters were intended to provide low-power personal transportation (engines from 50 to 250 cc or 3.1 to 15.3 cu in). The original layout is still widely used in this application. Maxi-scooters, with engines from 250 to 850 cc (15 to 52 cu in) have been developed for Western markets.
Scooters are popular for personal transport, partly due to being cheap to buy, easy to operate and convenient to park and store. Licensing requirements for scooters are easier and cheaper than for cars in most parts of the world, and insurance is usually cheaper.
"'Bad Motor Scooter" was the second track from the album Montrose by the band of the same name. It, along with "Rock Candy", was arguably the best known song by the band, Montrose. The song was penned by frontman Sammy Hagar. Its intro, a distorted electric slide guitar sound which closely emulates that of a revving motorcycle, became the defining component of the song. When the song was conceived before this guitar sound, the band and Ted Templeman were not impressed because they thought it was missing a "hook", to make it stand out. Ronnie Montrose stumbled upon it while messing with a slide and fuzz box one day in the studio. Playing his guitar in Open D tuning, Montrose improvised what became the motorcycle sound — although Templeman and engineer Donn Landee kept him going when they failed to get the tape rolling.
When performed live by the original Montrose line up, Sammy Hagar would play the "motorcycle" introduction on a lap steel slide guitar. Hagar provided the same intro when Chickenfoot, the supergroup composed of Hagar, Joe Satriani, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith, performed a version during their live performances. Joe Satriani did the "motorcycle" introduction at the Montrose tribute concert using the whammy bar on his guitar instead of the slide guitar.

"Paper Money" (1974) is the second album by the band Montrose. It was produced by Ted Templeman and is the band's final recording with original vocalist Sammy Hagar. It marks the arrival of new bass player Alan Fitzgerald (pre Night Ranger), replacing original bassist Bill Church. Already disenchanted with what he perceived to be the one dimensionality and commercially-waning popularity of his band's hard rock/proto-metal sound, Ronnie Montrose insisted on changing the formula for the group's sophomore release by broadening the stylistic, compositional, rhythmic, and sonic range of the band, and generally toning down the high-energy intensity and metallic crunch that defined the group's 1973 debut. Musical diversity is the driving force behind "Paper Money", which opens with the pop-flav...

Four fuel altered dragsters, three funny cars, and one drag boat participated in an impressive display of nitro thunderfest/cacklefest at the 16th Annual Old Town Montrose Car Show. These are some of SoCal's most well known dragsters for cacklefest, and it is always a pleasure to see and hear them!

We've been walking in shadows for far too long
Listening to memories of that same old worn-out song.
Watching the time go by with nothing more than a sigh,
Making eachother cry and not really not knowing why.
No more crying, no more tears
No more wasting days and years.
Sun is rising on a brand-new day
People singing while children play
We're going home
We're going home, that's right
We're going home...
