The Great Palace of Constantinople (Greek: Μέγα Παλάτιον, Latin: Palatium Magnum, Turkish: Büyük Saray) — also known as the Sacred Palace (Latin: Sacrum Palatium, Greek: Ιερόν Παλάτιον) — was the large Imperial Byzantine palace complex located in the south-eastern end of the peninsula now known as Old Istanbul (formerly Constantinople), in modern Turkey. It served as the main royal residence of the Eastern Roman or Byzantine emperors from 330 to 1081 and was the centre of imperial administration for over 800 years. Only a few remnants and fragments of its foundations have survived into the present day.
When Constantine I moved the Roman capital to Constantinople in 330, he planned out a palace for himself and his heirs. The palace was located between the Hippodrome and Hagia Sophia. It was rebuilt and expanded several times during its history. Much of the complex was destroyed during the Nika riots of 532 and was rebuilt lavishly by the emperor Justinian I. Further extensions and alterations were commissioned by Justinian II and Basil I. However, it had fallen into disrepair by the time of Constantine VII, who ordered its renovation. From the early 11th century onwards the Byzantine emperors favoured the Palace of Blachernae as an imperial residence, though they continued to use the Great Palace as the primary administrative and ceremonial centre of the city. It declined substantially during the following century when parts of the complex were demolished or filled with rubble. During the sack of Constantinople by the Fourth Crusade, the Palace was plundered by the soldiers of Boniface of Montferrat. Although the subsequent Latin emperors continued to use the Palace complex, they lacked money for its maintenance. The last Latin emperor, Baldwin II, went as far as removing the lead roofs of the Palace and selling them.
"The Adventure" is a song by the American rock band Angels & Airwaves. It was the lead single from their debut studio album, We Don't Need to Whisper (2006), released on Geffen Records.
The song received increased attention when it aired on a Smallville trailer. After the season finale of Smallville aired, "The Adventure" climbed to #30 on Amazon.
During concerts, DeLonge has often used both "Down" and "I Miss You" by Blink-182 as part of an extended intro to the song. The track was played in the crowd warm-up session before Barack Obama's presidential election rallies in 2008.
"The Adventure" is also featured as downloadable content in the karaoke game Lips and in the music game Rock Band. It is also a playable song in the music game Band Hero.
The song was also featured on a Ford and X-Play commercial.
An acoustic version of "The Adventure" appears as a B-side on the "Everything's Magic" single.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (Japanese: リンクの冒険, Hepburn: Rinku no Bōken, "Adventure of Link") is an action role-playing video game with platforming elements. The second installment in the The Legend of Zelda series, it was developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System's Family Computer Disk System peripheral on January 14, 1987, less than a year after the original The Legend of Zelda was released and seven months before North America saw the release of the first Zelda title. The game was released in North America and the PAL region on an NES cartridge in 1988, almost two years after its initial release in Japan.
The Adventure of Link is a direct sequel to the original The Legend of Zelda, again involving the protagonist, Link, on a quest to save Princess Zelda, who has fallen under a sleeping spell. The Adventure of Link's emphasis on side-scrolling and role-playing elements, however, was a significant departure from its predecessor. As of 2016, the game remains the only technical sequel to the original title, as all other entries in the series either are prequels or take place in an alternative reality, according to the official Zelda timeline.
A palace is a grand residence, especially a royal residence or the home of a head of state or some other high-ranking dignitary, such as a bishop or archbishop.
The word itself is derived from the Latin name Palātium, for Palatine Hill, the hill which housed the Imperial residences in Rome. In many parts of Europe, the term is also applied to ambitious private mansions of the aristocracy. Many historic palaces are now put to other uses such as parliaments, museums, hotels or office buildings. The word is also sometimes used to describe a lavishly ornate building used for public entertainment or exhibitions.
The word "palace" comes from Old French palais (imperial residence), from Latin Palātium, the name of one of the seven hills of Rome. The original "palaces" on the Palatine Hill were the seat of the imperial power while the "capitol" on the Capitoline Hill was the religious nucleus of Rome. Long after the city grew to the seven hills the Palatine remained a desirable residential area. Emperor Caesar Augustus lived there in a purposely modest house only set apart from his neighbours by the two laurel trees planted to flank the front door as a sign of triumph granted by the Senate. His descendants, especially Nero, with his "Golden House" enlarged the house and grounds over and over until it took up the hill top. The word Palātium came to mean the residence of the emperor rather than the neighbourhood on top of the hill.

This is video #09 in my playthrough of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Link has gotten through all six Palaces and placed all the Crystals. Now, it is time to head to the final dungeon and get the Triforce of Courage. Link starts just outside the graveyard west of New Kasuto and south of Nabooru. Heading south through the graveyard, he passes through a fixed encounter area with turquoise Moas and rock-throwing Lizardmen. Just get through here as fast as possible. The mountain pass is littered with fixed encounters, and random encounters will appear, as well. Off the path, there is a hidden encounter area with a P Bag (time 1:42). After passing through several fixed encounter areas and a couple of caverns, Link finally arrives at the Great Palace (...

The quickest path through the final palace of Zelda 2, The Great Palace. There are no items in this one, so you just need to get to the end as healthy as possible. Basically you can just remember this easy formula: Left, Right, Right, Left. That's the directions you'll go at the bottom of elevators that let you go either right or left at the bottom. Note that this formula DOES NOT include the elevators that only have ONE DIRECTION to go at the bottom. If you reach the bottom of an elevator and can only go right, than go right! Eng/Turkish/Nat Turkish archaeologists have unearthed the remains of a once magnificent palace in the heart of Istanbul. The Great Palace of Byzantium was home to emperors who governed most of the Western world from the 4th to the 12th century. But history has placed major obstacles in the excavators' path - the palace lies beneath two of Istanbul's most popular historical monuments, the famous Blue Mosque and Saint Sophia Cathedral. In the shadow of Saint Sofia archaeologists have discovered a beautiful floral fresco believed to be part of the ruins of The Palace of Byzantium. Excavation has uncovered a labyrinth of vaulted corridors which were probably used to store the imperial archives. This floral wall painting could date back to the fifth century. First built by ...

Istanbul, historically also known as Constantinople and Byzantium, is the most populous city in Turkey and the country's economic, cultural, and historic center. Istanbul is a transcontinental city in Eurasia, straddling the Bosphorus strait (which separates Europe and Asia) between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea.
Istanbul is a fantastic heritage of the Byzantine Empire and Constantinople, and its unique quality is that it lies on two continents. Europe and Asia are separated by the picturesque Golden Horn Bay. On the quiet Asian side live the wealthy citizens, while the European part is a busy center for business life, and also the ancient city core, full of old monuments, can be found here. There is the Aia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Yedikule fortress and the Topkapi Palace. And then there is the colorful, loud and exotic Grand Bazaar, favorite target of the tourists. Let us go to the house of Pierre Loti, drink a cup of Turkish coffee and enjoy the sight of the Marble Sea and the city of the thousand minarets

Quick Guide 7: How and when was Constantinople founded? In 330 AD, Constantine I allowed Christianity to be practiced publicly, dedicated Constantinople as the capital of the Empire, and rebuilt the city splendidly. I know we’re gonna do it this time.
We followed every golden rule.
The people need someone to lead them
And we can show that we’re no fools.
Our endless surveys and relentless badgering
Helped us concluding that they’ll swallow anything.
We kissed their babies and we shook so many hands
And said, ‘It’s great to see you,
It’s great to see you, it’s great to see you
And it’s great to have you on our side.’
Chorus:
This is a great place to be
This is a great place to be for everybody
It’s a great place to be
Yeah, it’s a great place to be
And don’t you forget it.
Stop!
We only tell them what they need to know
Give away too much and they’d take over the show.
Wear clothes in pictures, boys,
And please don’t take no drugs
And when you’re called for evidence
Just everybody shrug.
While speculating on the markets and raising tax
Make sure you’ve always got a smile for their brats
And say, ‘It’s great to see you
It’s great to see you, it’s great to see you
And it’s great to know you’re on our side.
Chorus.
We only tell them what they need to know.
Taking their liberties,
Yeah, that might prove a drag
Maybe a little war would pull them round the flag
You know it’s great to see you
It’s great to see you, it’s great to see you
And it’s great to have you on our side.
