Viacom, Inc. (short for Video & Audio Communications) is an American global mass media company with interests primarily in cinema and cable television. It is the world's sixth largest broadcasting and cable company in terms of revenue (behind Comcast, The Walt Disney Company, Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc., Time Warner, and CBS Corporation, respectively). Voting control of Viacom is held by National Amusements, Inc., a privately owned theater company controlled by billionaire Sumner Redstone. Redstone also holds, via National Amusements, a controlling stake in CBS Corporation.
The current Viacom was created on December 31, 2005, as a spinoff from CBS Corporation, which changed its name from Viacom to CBS at the same time. CBS, not Viacom, retains control of the over-the-air broadcasting, TV production, outdoor advertising, subscription pay television (Showtime) and publishing assets (Simon & Schuster) previously owned by the pre-split company. Predecessor firms of Viacom include Gulf+Western, which later became Paramount Communications Inc., and Westinghouse Electric Corporation.
In which Hank argues with Hank about the Viacom v YouTube lawsuit. Important points: 1. Yes, YouTube knew that copyrighted clips were being uploaded. 2. Viacom once tried to buy YouTube 3. Viacom's Spike.com steals videos from independent video creators constantly. 4. Viacom wants YouTube to manually approve every video on the site, which would destroy YouTube In my opinion, YouTube should pay some reparations to Viacom based on the amount of views on content owned by Viacom. YouTube should continue to develop it's Content ID system, which has proved to be better at identifying copyrighted material than manual identification. Viacom should drop the suit, and settle out of court for something like $3 CPM of views on copyrighted clips. HERE ARE A LOT OF LINKS TO NERDFIGHTASTIC THINGS: ...

Viacom, one of the biggest companies in the tv and film industry, contacted us to create 8 animated loops to play on the entrance hall of the company's offices in order to celebrate the start of Spring in New York. The 8 loops are totally different from one another and are made from a blend between 2d illustrations and pictures of characteristic places in the city. The idea is to show you what we all want to do when the most charming season comes to the city: take a bike ride, go out on the lake with a new love, enjoy a bohemian afternoon on the subway, drink coffee and read a book in the middle of the day wihout being cold, have a picnic at Central Park, or even play with your boat at the lake. Enjoy the Spring, New Yorkers! Music: "I'd rather dance with you" by Kings of Convenience, onl...

http://slanted.org/project/viacom-composition-vi/ Composition VI is an interactive art installation commissioned by Viacom’s Catalyst Group, supported by Art at Viacom. Slanted Studios joined forces with Ancillary Magnet to create a custom particle-based system that interprets the motion of people into unexpected shapes and colors. Fall logo run animation I created for the lobby screens at Viacom's Times Square HQ.
Viacom’s Catalyst Group commissioned us to create original content for their main lobby’s large video screens at 1515 Broadway. With thousands of people coming and going every day, we wanted to offer people the opportunity to take a beat from the hustle and bustle of Times Square. Our office friendly how-to videos offer a tongue and cheek approach to some of the many challenges our days bring us. Just how do you perfect that perfect handshake? And can someone please tell me how to wrap my headphones tangle-free?! You’ve come to the right place…we’ve got you covered! I saw the light
Shining in glory
Like satellites bright
I made a friend
Dear to my heart
Whom
The brotherhood sent.
Dominum diaboltronicum con pandemonium diaboltron
As the sky falls down
Carry on my crown
Illuminati, illuminati
As the chosen one
I go
You're among friends
People who stand by you
Until the end.
Language they speak
Must be kept secret
