Become a Friend of the Library

The Friends of the Library have been the backbone of the Library's individual supporter network since 1965.

Our Friends visit the Library for a variety of reasons – to find out more about our collections, to further their work, pursue their studies or enjoy the Library's events. All of our Friends are passionate about the Library and the contribution it makes to our society.

In recognition of their support, Friends of the Library receive a range of exclusive on-site and offsite benefits, tailored to increase their enjoyment of the Library's spaces, collections, exhibitions and programs.

When you become a Friend of the Library, you receive the following benefits:

This creates a permanent record of your support, or a tribute to a friend or family member.

Our bookplate donor levels are named after renowned bird illustrators whose valuable works are held in the Library:

  • $175 – John William Lewin (1770–1819)
  • $500 – John James Audubon (1785–51)
  • $1000 – John Gould (1804–81)
