Blount County is the name of two counties in the United States:
A county, abbreviated Cnty. (US) or Co. (UK and Ireland), is a geographical region of a country used for administrative or other purposes, in certain modern nations. The term is derived from the Old French conté or cunté denoting a jurisdiction under the sovereignty of a count (earl) or a viscount. The modern French is comté, and its equivalents in other languages are contea, contado, comtat, condado, Grafschaft, graafschap, Gau, etc. (cf. conte, comte, conde, Graf).
When the Normans conquered England, they brought the term with them. The Saxons had already established the districts that became the historic counties of England, calling them shires (many county names derive from the name of the county town with the word "shire" added on: for example, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire). The Vikings introduced the term earl (from Old Norse, jarl) to the British Isles. Thus, "earl" and "earldom" were taken as equivalent to the continental use of "count" and "county". So the later-imported term became a synonym for the native English word scir ([ʃiːr]) or, in Modern English, shire. Since a shire was an administrative division of the kingdom, the term "county" evolved to designate an administrative division of national government in most modern uses.
In principle, a sheriff is a legal official with responsibility for a "shire", i.e. county. In practice, the specific combination of legal, political and ceremonial duties of a sheriff varies greatly from country to country.

I am not exactly sure what this is. Looks like a bobcat to me with the lack of a noticeable tail, however I have never seen a solid black bobcat. The ears seem to me to definitely make it a cat of some sort, but it definitely was not a house cat. I apparently filmed this back in 2002 and recently found it while going through some old tapes. The video is very shaky and really hard to make out very much. I attempted to use some editing software to remove the shakiness and run it in slow motion, so that is why you will see the floating date in the bottom right during the slow motion replay. Video made in Blount County Alabama on Straight Mountain.
Two Birmingham lawyers were arrested Thursday in Blount County. Victor Revill, owner of Revill Law Firm, and Megan Garcia, one of his associates, were taken into custody by the Blount County Sheriff's Office Thursday morning. Sheriff's Operations Officer Tim Kent said the pair was arrested when sheriff's investigator Sgt. Sue Ashworth was trying to serve a search warrant on a suspect. Revill and Garcia are charged with obstructing a governmental operation and refusal to permit inspection of property subject to a search warrant. Both are misdemeanors. The pair was released from the Blount County Correctional Facility Thursday afternoon after posting $3,000 bond each. Kent said he could not release details of what led to the arrests because the investigation is ongoing.

Went up to a little town in Blount County to pick up some parts and spied a little plowed field . It was on a creek , had had 4 inches of rain and a user friendly land owner . What more could you ask for . Found some arrowheads , made a video and now I am uploading it . Don't usually find a field plowed this time of year . It was a very blessed day , I want to thank the LORD for such an opportunity . The last point in the clean up came from Talladega County . Afriend had 2 of them almost identical . I was admiring them for the second time , he said pick one of 'em . So I did . I picked the lesser of the 2 . I also found one of them from Blount Co. in a gravel bar on the creek . Walked down to it to cool off and BAM there it was . Good last few weeks I think .
