Visu
Visu (born July 1, 1945) is a Tamil writer, director, stage, film and television actor and talk show host from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Visu fine tuned his directorial skills under the mentor-ship of legendary K. Balachander until becoming a full-fledged director. He ventured into acting in his self-directed Tamil Movie, Kudumbam Oru Kadambam meaning family is a mixture, which was a talk of the period for its crisp story line, sensitive story, sensational dialogues and timed jokes. Further on, he directed movies like Samsaram Adhu Minsaaram which was remade in almost in all Indian languages based on a short story, Thirumathi oru Vegumathi, Manal Kayiru etc.
A philanthropist, Visu had been supporting the needy through his own foundation. The Program at Jaya TV "Visuvin Makkal Arangam" had been serving for a genuine cause since its inception. The same type of program Arratai Arangam was hosted by him in Sun TV. Though he could serve through a registered foundation, he had been using the program as a tool/media to reach the common man.

Samsaram Adhu Minsaram
Samsaram Adhu Minsaram (English: (lit.) Family Life is like Electricity) is a 1986 Tamil comedy drama film directed by Visu dealing about the day-to-day travesty and triumph in an ordinary joint family in Tamil Nadu. The film features Visu himself along with Lakshmi and Raghuvaran, the film released on 18 July 1986 and won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and Filmfare Best Film Award in 1987. The film was remade in Hindi as Sansar, in Telugu as Samsaram Oka Chadarangam, in Kannada as Onde Goodina Hakkigalu and also in Malayalam as Kudumbapuranam. The film has completed 25 weeks successful run. M. G. Ramachandran, the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has headed the function for 175 days run celebration arranged by AVM Productions.
Plot
The film opens into the life of Ammaiyappan Mudaliar (Visu), an ordinary middle-class man who makes a simple living as a Central Government clerk. His family, a typical South Indian joint family, includes his dutiful wife Godavari, his oldest son Chidambaram (Raghuvaran), a junior officer at Indian Oil, and his wife Uma (Lakshmi), his second son Siva (Chandrasekhar), a factory worker, his youngest son Bharathi (a never do good fellow who has failed his high school exams twice) and his daughter Sarojini (Ilavarasi). The modest income from his government job barely provides for his family's needs. His sons contribute some amounts in proportion to their incomes. The family gets by, but Ammaiyappan worries for the future. Siva and Sarojini are not yet married, and Bharathi has a bleak future if he does not graduate high school. Sarojini is a particular worry; her beauty and charm are matched by her arrogance and contempt. She summarily rejects any marriage proposal, and her obstinate demeanor causes great concern to Ammaiyappan. Ammaiyappan nonetheless plows on through life hoping for solutions to his difficulties.

Arumugam (Visu), a poor father, looks for a bridegroom for his daughter Uma (Ilavarasi). For Arumugam, the perfect bridegroom seems to be Bhaskaran (Karthik). Bhaskaran gets married with Uma. Bhaskaran understands his in-laws' financial problems and helps them. Bhaskaran suffers from brain tumor and he will die soon. By when uma comes to know about this, she commits suicide and Bhaskaran gets cured of brain tumour. The film score and the soundtrack were composed by film composer M. S. Viswanathan. The soundtrack, released in 1985, features 5 tracks with lyrics written by Pulaimaipithan, Muthulingam, N. Kamarasan, Idhayachandran and Jothi Pandian. Arumugam (Visu), a poor father, looks for a bridegroom for his daughter Uma (Ilavarasi). For Arumugam, the perfect bridegroom seems to be Bhaskaran (Karthik). Bhaskaran gets married with Uma. Bhaskaran understands his in-laws' financial problems and helps them. Bhaskaran suffers from brain tumor and he will die soon. By when uma comes to know about this, she commits suicide and Bhaskaran gets cured of brain tumour.
The film score and the soundtrack were composed by film composer M. S. Viswanathan. The soundtrack, released in 1985, features 5 tracks with lyrics written by Pulaimaipithan, Muthulingam, N. Kamarasan, Idhayachandran and Jothi Pandian.

Visu fine tuned his directorial skills under his mentor the legendary K Balachander until becoming a full-fledged director. He ventured into acting under his own direction in the Tamil Film, Kudumbam Oru Kadambam meaning family is a mixture of sorts, which was a talk of that period for its crisp storyline, sensitive story, sensational dialogues and well timed jokes. He further went on to direct films like Samsaram Adhu Minsaaram based on a true story, which was remade in almost in all Indian languages. He also directed many other films,Thirumathi Oru Vegumathi, Manal Kayiru etc.
The programme "Visuvin Makkal Arangam" telecast by Jaya TV was essentially meant as a platform to serve a social cause. Arattai Arangam was a similar program that he hosted on Sun TV. Visu pioneered the use of the visual media to reach the common man.

Veteran actor-writer-director Visu has issued a statement that Kasthuri Raja worked as his assistant since his first film ‘Manal Kaiyiru’ in 1982 for sixteen years and he is very close to the family. He assures everyone that Dhanush is indeed Kasthuri Raja’s son and contrary to the Thirupuvanam couple’s claims Visu has provided two photographs one in which Dhanush is aged around ten with the family and another in Visu’s daughter’s wedding at a higher age.

As a token of gratitude Visu gives all his wealth to Rajni before his death. Time passes by. Rajni in his middle age runs the factory to everyone's satisfaction. Rajni also controls the financial affairs of Visu's family. But Karthik, Visu's son is not in good terms with Rajni. Karthik tries to avenge Rajni by luring Rajni's daughter Thulasi. He brainwashes Thulasi and marries her much to the agony of Rajni and Radhika. The aftermath of this marriage is the climax.
