UNDP works with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to strengthen the capacities of health care institutions to deliver timely and stigma-free health services across the country; and with communities to effectively demand and access entitlements.
Our Goals
The overarching goal of our work on health and development is to facilitate equitable access to basic services by strengthening capacities of communities to demand and access services, and of institutions to deliver quality, timely and stigma free services. We support government efforts to establish universal health coverage; reduce infant mortality; improve the quality of care for children and support capacity development for greater operational efficiency in service delivery. Improving Efficiency of Vaccination Systems in Multiple States
In partnership with Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, the project aims to support Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) through designing and implementing an electronic vaccine intelligence network (eVIN), and strengthening the evidence base for improved policy-making in programmatic areas like procurement, vaccine delivery, sequencing and adoption of new antigens. more

Increasing Access to HIV/AIDS Prevention and Care for Vulnerable People

Support to Improving Administrative Efficiency for Delivering Newborn and Infant Healthcare Services (NIPI)
The project launched in 2013 as part of Phase II of the Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI) aims to reduce neonatal and infant mortality by strengthening capacities and improving access and utilization of public health services. It also seeks to accelerate the efforts of the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) to improve the availability and access of people to quality health care, especially those residing in rural areas, women and children. more
