The Blackfoot Confederacy or Niitsitapi (ᖹᐟᒧᐧᒣᑯ, meaning "original people") is the collective name of three First Nation band governments in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia. It is also a Native American tribe in Montana, United States. There are three tribes in Canada, the Siksika ("Blackfoot"), the Kainai or Kainah ("Many Chiefs") and the Northern Piegan ("Poor Robes") or Peigan or Pikuni, and one tribe in the United States: the Southern Piegan ("Poor Robes") or Pikuni in Montana.
Historically, the member peoples of the Confederacy were nomadic bison hunters and trout fishermen, who ranged across large areas of the northern Great Plains of Western North America, specifically the semi-arid shortgrass prairie ecological region. They followed the bison herds as they migrated between what are now the United States and Canada, as far north as the Bow River. In the first half of the 18th century, they acquired horses and firearms from white traders and their Cree and Assiniboine go-betweens. The Blackfoot used these to expand their territory at the expense of neighboring tribes. Now riding horses, the Blackfoot and other Plains tribes could also extend the range of their buffalo hunts.

Rickey Medlocke (born February 17, 1950) is an American musician best known as the frontman/guitarist for the southern rock band Blackfoot. During his career he has also played with Lynyrd Skynyrd as a drummer (1971) before rejoining Blackfoot in 1972 as a guitarist, joining Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1996 where he continues to tour and record.
Being of Blackfoot ancestry, Medlocke was inducted into the Native American Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
Rickey Medlocke was born on February 17, 1950, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was raised by his maternal grandparents. His grandfather, Shorty Medlocke, was a well-known Delta blues musician and taught his grandson to play a miniature banjo. Medlocke started performing onstage at age three, and his musical abilities increased over the years. He began teaching himself to play the guitar by age five and was playing drums in Shorty's band at age eight. Over the next several years Medlocke mastered the banjo, guitar, drums, mandolin, dobro and keyboards. He had a melodic singing voice and had taught himself to sing and play guitar at the same time. After graduating high school, Medlocke formed his first band, Blackfoot, where he was lead vocalist and lead guitarist.

Greg T. Walker is an American bassist who played with rock band Lynyrd Skynyrd between 1971 and 1972. His main band, named Blackfoot existed between 1969 and 1985. In 2004 a new line-up was born, with Axe frontman Bobby Barth as their singer/guitarist.
In the classic line-up of the band, he played with Ricky Medlocke as frontman, Charlie Hargrett as second guitarist, and Jackson T. Spires on drums. Besides playing the bass, he also ensures the backing vocals together with drummer Jackson T. Spires. His backing vocals can for example be heard on their hit Train, Train from the Strikes album.
In 2014 he recorded a 5 song EP with french rock trio Lloyd Project and played a couple of concerts in Paris along with the band.
Greg's heritage is from Muskogee Creek from the Eastern Branch of the Florida Creek Nation (pipe carrier). Greg makes his own bows and arrows and many types of traditional native American crafts and jewelry. When not touring or recording, his time is spent on ancestral lands in Florida, where he pursues his passion of raising and riding horses.

http://lnp.io/BlackfootSouthernNativeAMA Blackfoot was originally formed in 1970’s by Rickey Medlocke, current lead guitarist of Lynyrd Skynyrd. Blackfoot has always been defined by their hard rock edge, evident on their most successful singles “Train, Train” and “Highway Song.” In 2012, Medlocke recruited a completely new line-up of the band to continue the music of Blackfoot for new generations. Blackfoot will be touring all summer, check www.blackfootband.com for info.

The band's classic lineup consisted of guitarist and vocalist Rickey Medlocke, guitarist Charlie Hargrett, bassist Greg T. Walker, and drummer Jakson Spires. In 2012 Rickey Medlocke reformed Blackfoot with a completely new line-up, with him acting as their producer. Walker, Hargrett, Estes and Pietro subsequently regrouped under the band name Fired Guns. The Native Tongue is a Blackfoot Language video used to promote basic common day sayings in Blackfoot to all ages. It is becoming more and more important for young people of the first nations community to remember their heritage. The Blackfoot language had been passed down from elders and parents to youth for generations. With the introduction of the residential school system much of this was lost. Jeanette Manyguns approached us to make this initial video in hopes of spreading the Native Tongue throughout the Siksika reserve and beyond once again. Hope you enjoy! Produced by Jeanette Manyguns from Siksika Nation. Directed, filmed and edited by Tom Acton Additional filming and Sound by Dan Jardine
A nice crimpy 7c prow in Rowsley Wood. I thought I was doing a first ascent but it later transpired local dark horse Dan Warren beat me to it by about five years! Good prob, worth seeking out. A good safe bet for being quick drying and sheltered. As usual I have a crap camera and no tripod, hence random angle and low res.
In 2003 a worldwide petition calling for the reunion of Southern Rock Legends Blackfoot, caught the attention of founding members Jakson Spires, Charlie Hargrett, Greg T. Walker and former Blackfoot lead guitarist Bobby Barth. Calls were made, hoops jumped through, a tap dance here and there and in 2004 the guys got together to meet and check out the possibility of a reunion. A tragic loss was suffered by the band on March 16, 2005 with the passing of Jakson Spires. Early 2007 the band was back up and running. They were joined by New Orleans drummer Michael Sollars and are back as close as possible to the original lineup. One of the hardest working, multi Gold and Platinum acts to hit the charts and perform the world's stages are once more performing their classic tracks like Train Tra...

Dream on, Yes now you've gone way too far,
Tried to steal my lovin'
Thinkin' I was your star,
You fool, oh to think that I was blind,
To take my love and turn it round and treat it so unkind,
I feel it,yes I feel it coming on,
a little more lip, and honey soon you'll be gone,
Those eyes, Oh i know it like I do,
Your Mister Moneybags is gonna say goodbye to you,
You didn't know me when I was down,
Now you know me when I come around,
So dream on,
Yes dream on,
Well if you can't take it with you,
when you die,
No good to have it when you're alive,
Dream on...
Shot down, like a bullet from a gun,
another man in my bed,
is that you're kind of fun,
Missed by, oh ha!, you missed me by a mile!
I can see that guilty look in your smile,
How could you be so heartless and cruel,
used my love as a one-sided tool,
dream on,
Yes, dream on
Well if you can't take it with you when you die,
No good to have it baby when you're alive,
dream on.
