Step inside the place where life begins: the busiest maternity ward in the world.
More than anywhere else on the planet, smiles and screams fill Manila’s Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital, with as many as 100 babies a day taking their first breaths in its cramped confines. New mothers and their offspring huddle together in dormitories, and sharing beds is common. And yet, in crowded corridors and with few resources, love abounds, and life truly does go on.
Documentarian Ramona S. Diaz (Imelda, MIFF 2004) focuses on three patients: a teenager unprepared for the task ahead, a twenty-something unaware she’s having twins and a woman who just gave birth to her seventh child. In telling their tales, Motherland explores the daily reality of this bustling institution, as well as the Filipino society behind its onslaught of infants.
Winner of the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award for Commanding Vision at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

This mantra has been a daily dilemma for several Cuban generations. Motherland or Death focuses on the generation of Cubans born before the revolution as they near the end of their lives. Whilst their devotion to the motherland remains undiminished, they begin to question the circumstances in which the regime has forced them to live. Mansky portrays a stark contrast between Cuba’s carefully crafted image and the reality of daily life. In 2001 extraterrestrial contactee Shurlene Wallace came out with a book called "From The Motherland To The Mothership" detailing her accounts of several alien abductions that took place heavily throughout the mid/late 1990's and beyond. I was so busy running errands here and there in preparation.
I was in Cameroon from Dec 27th - January 31st
Secondly, my camera was very heavy, thats why I don't have enough footage of everything. and I lost my spare battery on the plane.
I did all my Vlogging on snapchat...Airport, takeoff, stop, landing, boulangerie, etc....
It was SO awesome that I'm already planning my next trip soon.

In the summer of 2014, Natalie Merchant came to Washington, D.C., to perform her first album of all-new material in 13 years. She was supposed to play here at my desk the day after that evening's performance. Instead, she fell ill, wound up in a D.C. hospital, and canceled her upcoming dates.
Now, Merchant has rerecorded her first solo album Tigerlily, complete with strings and different instrumentation. That album is called Paradise Is There: The New Tigerlily Recordings, and she recently came back to town to make a documentary film about that record. And so it was with abundant joy that Natalie Merchant finally made it to the NPR Music offices. This was truly one of the most warmhearted Tiny Desk performances I've ever seen. She sang two songs from that self-titled 2014 release and something from Tigerlily, and then Merchant had the NPR audience join her for a beautiful hymn — so have a tissue handy.

In 2001 extraterrestrial contactee Shurlene Wallace came out with a book called "From The Motherland To The Mothership" detailing her accounts of several alien abductions that took place heavily throughout the mid/late 1990's and beyond. According to Wallace her abductors were humanoid E.T.'s that strongly resembled African American Earth human's claiming to be from Mars along with being transported to several other planets that had a very large and predominate population of Black or melanated E.T.'s who were the ruling body of those planets and space stations. Her story is very interesting and it is a true rare account coming from a contactee who is a Black woman who speaks out about her experiences with extraterrestrials from beyond this world.

The Uyghurs (pronounced wee-gers) are a predominantly-Muslim ethnic minority based in Xinjiang region of China. Not only does Xinjiang have the highest concentration of Muslims in the Republic, but Uyghurs are the second-largest predominantly-Muslim ethnic group in China ... Chinese officials seem to find Muslims in China as a threat to their identity and what Xinjiang Party Secretary Wang Lequan calls “the unification of the motherland”....
