More than 220 people from 13 different countries answered Carina Håkansson's invitation to Gothenburg to hear about and discuss research findings, new knowledge, and future directions regarding the risks of psychopharmaceuticals, and alternatives to the biological model of psychiatry. The result of the weekend was the new International Institute for Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal (IIPDW). Members of the Institute faculty are Olga Runciman, Sami Timimi, Birgitta Alakare, Robert Whitaker, Will Hall, Carina Håkansson, Jaakko Seikkula, Volkmar Aderhold, John Read, Peter Gøtzsche and Magnus Hald. These videos are presented as a public service, on the occasion of this new venture in changing the paradigm of mental health care toward one that is more holistic, humanistic, and evidence-based.
Will teaches and consults internationally on medication withdrawal and psychiatric diagnosis recovery. He is the author of the Harm Reduction Guide To Coming Off Psychiatric Drugs, published in 15 languages and used by patients, clinicians, and family members all over the world.

Psychiatric medications can sometimes be very useful, but there is often little information or guidance when the risks and harm start to outweigh the benefits. Will Hall provides an introductory overview of how to come off psychiatric medication.
Will Hall is a survivor of a schizophrenia diagnosis who today works as a therapist and teaches internationally on mental diversity, including psychiatric medication. Will Hall (born 1966) is an American mental health advocate, counselor, writer, and teacher. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, he is a leader in the peer support movement and is an organizer within the psychiatric survivors movement. Hall advocates the recovery approach to mental illness and is recognized internationally as an innovator in the treatment and societal response to psychosis.
In 2001, he co-founded the Freedom Center and from 2004-2009 was a co-coordinator for The Icarus Project. He has consulted for Mental Disability Rights International, the Family Outreach and Response Program, and the Office on Violence Against Women, and in 2012 presented to the American Psychiatric Association's Institute on Psychiatric Services.
Hall hosts the FM radio program, "Madness Radio," syndicated on the Pacifica Network, and in 2009, co-founded Portland Hearing Voices.
He lives in Portland, Oregon, New York City and Las Delicias, Costa Rica.

The Script is an Irish pop rock band formed in 2001. The band comprises guitarist and vocalist Danny O'Donoghue, guitarist and vocalist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power. Based in London after signing to Sony Label Group imprint Phonogenic, the band released its eponymous debut album, The Script, in August 2008, featuring the hit songs "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" and "Breakeven (Falling to Pieces)". The album peaked at number one in Ireland and the UK. Their next three albums, Science & Faith (2010), #3 (2012) and No Sound Without Silence (2014), all topped the album charts in Ireland and the UK, while Science & Faith reached number three in the US. Hit singles from the albums include "For the First Time", "Nothing", "Hall of Fame" and "Superheroes".
The Script's music has been featured in popular television programmes such as 90210, Ghost Whisperer, The Hills, Waterloo Road, EastEnders, Made in Chelsea and The Vampire Diaries. Frontman Danny O'Donoghue was also a coach on The Voice UK for seasons 1 and 2, before leaving the show in order to focus more on the band. The band has won three Meteor Ireland Music Awards, two World Music Awards and have received two Brit Award nominations.

Hall
In architecture, a hall is a relatively large space enclosed by a roof and walls. In the Iron Age, a mead hall was such a simple building and was the residence of a lord and his retainers. Later, rooms were partitioned from it, and the space next to the front door became the entrance hall. Today, the (entrance) hall of a house is the space next to the front door or vestibule leading to the rooms directly and/or indirectly. Where the hall inside the front door of a house is elongated, it may be called a passage, corridor (from Spanish corredor used in El Escorial and 100 years later in Castle Howard) or hallway.
Other meanings
The term hall is often used to designate a British or Irish country house such as a hall house, or specifically a Wealden hall house, and manor houses.
In later medieval Europe, the main room of a castle or manor house was the great hall. In a medieval building, the hall was where the fire was kept. With time, its functions as dormitory, kitchen, parlour and so on were divided off to separate rooms or, in the case of the kitchen, a separate building.

Mental health
Mental health is a level of psychological well-being, or an absence of a mental disorder; it is the "psychological state of someone who is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioral adjustment". From the perspective of positive psychology or holism, mental health may include an individual's ability to enjoy life, and create a balance between life activities and efforts to achieve psychological resilience. According to World Health Organization (WHO) mental health includes "subjective well-being, perceived self-efficacy, autonomy, competence, intergenerational dependence, and self-actualization of one's intellectual and emotional potential, among others." WHO further states that the well-being of an individual is encompassed in the realization of their abilities, coping with normal stresses of life, productive work and contribution to their community. However, cultural differences, subjective assessments, and competing professional theories all affect how "mental health" is defined.

He says that most are trained to look at the symptoms, come up with a diagnosis and apply the recommended treatment as quickly as possible. More than 220 people from 13 different countries answered Carina Håkansson's invitation to Gothenburg to hear about and discuss research findings, new knowledge, and future directions regarding the risks of psychopharmaceuticals, and alternatives to the biological model of psychiatry. The result of the weekend was the new International Institute for Psychiatric Drug Withdrawal (IIPDW). Members of the Institute faculty are Olga Runciman, Sami Timimi, Birgitta Alakare, Robert Whitaker, Will Hall, Carina Håkansson, Jaakko Seikkula, Volkmar Aderhold, John Read, Peter Gøtzsche and Magnus Hald. These videos are presented as a public service, on the occasion of this new venture in changing the paradigm of mental health care toward one that is more holistic, humanistic, and evidence-based.
