Disbaja-Time is...Cruel Master!
Disbaja hail from Zagreb, Croatia, they are a D-beat crust band, they formed a few years ago and released Realms of Absurd in 2015. Realms... was a piece of intense D-beat Punk, three years later and after some line up changes, Disbaja is back with a new release and this time they explore the metal territories and deliver a nice blending of D-Beat with Crust and Metal
Time is...Cruel Master! consists of 13 tracks including one intro and lasts for 34 minutes, music wise delivers a combination of D-beat Crust and Metal: Short and fast paced songs, rough shouted vocals and D-beat drums while the metal edged guitar riffs and nice solos add some diversity that makes the whole thing interesting. The guitar sound is crunchy and the band remains in the Crust Punk territory all time without straying in metal pathways despite the metallic riffs, lyrically they deal with personal issues.
All and all, this is a nice D-beat crust release with the appropriate metal flavor, didn't see anything about physical release, Time is... is currently available in bandcamp and youtube

Gutterskull-Portals Amidst The Carnage (tape)
GutterSkull hail from Požega-Slavonia County, Croatia and its the one man project of kktz, member of Nuclear Altar and author of the now defunct and erased Wasted Potentials and Corpus Delicti blogs, this is the second recording of Gutterskull after Crawling is Disgust cassette from 2015. Portals Amidst The Carnage continues in the same pathway, it comes out as cassette, released by Olden Sonorities in 50 hand-numbered copies, it consists of six tracks and music wise this is Raw D-beat Black Metal Punk: D-beat drums, high pitched black metal shrieks, sick morbid lyrics and punk guitar riff create a sinister blending of genres. Total running time seven minutes. The cassette is available from Olden Sonorities and in bandcamp

Nuclear Altar-Mankind In Decline
Nuclear Altar from Croatia are back with Mankind In Decline their second demo after Blessed Ruins from 2013. The band is not new to this blog but for those who are not familiar, Nuclear Altar come from Požega, Croatia, Blessed Ruins was their frist demo, the songs appeared in a split tape with Hellback, there is also a live 4 way split tape with Propast, Hellback and Noname. Blessed Ruins was a piece of old school D-beat but the line up changes and guitarist's steps to a more dark and metallic path as appeared in his one man project Gutterskull and its offspring Crawling in Disgust are somehow obvious here and brought a new feeling to Mankind In Decline sound: This is raw and old school but with a slight metallic touch and sometimes dark and emotional feeling, There are 14 tracks here including covers of Hellkrusher, UBR and Dislike and following the pattern of Blessed Ruins, deliver pure D-beat (Ghostblood Rituals, Hell) but also slower and dark tracks (Slavonian Funeral, Dismal Worship Begins wich also appears in first demo). Lyrics & logo by kktz (guit), artwork by Željko Lučić. All and all this is a honest and nice effort, as good as their frist work, Oh i almost forgot it: This is a DIY effort and considering this, the result is decent. This is currently available only in bandcamp, a cassette release is going to pop up soon. Dnld link is provided by the band

Disbaja-Realms of absurd ep 2015
I want to apologize to all bands who have send their work here and didn't see it posted yet but i ve been thru some shitty situation the last weeks when i finally got some free time to update the blog so there is no mood to sit down and listen this and that cos i have to, it becomes an obligation and thats shitty, allow me to post some shit that i like for a while.
Disbaja come from Zagreb, Croatia and here is their first official recording. I don't know anything about them, the name of band, the cover artwork, everything shouts this is a D-beat punk, and more or less that's what it is. Realms of Absurd is a fifteen minutes noise attack in nine anthems, influenced by Discharge and Varukers. There is no any novelty here, some may say this is just another D-beat band and there is nothing new to contribute but to all of us who love this noise this is not problem, Realms of Absurd delivers fast beat that sometimes gets faster, thrashing guitar riffs and shouted vocals and all this noise has some power and energy to deliver and this is its strong point. No need to say anything else. This is available in bandcamp along with the lyrics

Uzvrat-st
Uzvrat is a crust punk band from Županja, Croatia and was formed by members of Šutnja, Seppuku, Sapperlot, Hesperian Death Horse and Insekticid and thats the only info i got for this band, anyway here we got five tracks of typical d-beat driven crust, some metal hints in guitars and angry shouted vocals in Croatian, decent sound and nearly 14 minutes of running time. A honest effort and looks like the members have put together the influences of their other bands, from fast hardcore to D-beat and emotional sludge/post hardcore etc and transform it to Uzvrat' crust

GutterSkull-Crawling in Disgust tape
GutterSkull come from Požega-Slavonia County, Croatia and its the one man project of kktz, member of Nuclear Altar (who's Blessed Ruins was a great shit of D-Beat) and author of the now defunct Wasted Potentials and Corpus Delicti blogs. Crawling in Disgust is the first recorded material for GutterSkull and delivers a blending of D-beat and metal: The drumming is D-beat and runs in the typical for a D-beat band paces, the guitar is raw and primitive and delivers the usual three chord riffs and these are omens of another Dis band walking in the room but here enter new elements: The guitar sound has a rough (black) metal edged feeling while the vocals are totally black metal morbid shrieks instead of the usual shouts or screams, they create a sinister feeling and reminiscent the Warmaggedon era of Disflesh, even the lyrics are dark and pessimistic ("March of the wounded Fate worse than death "). If there is a term to coin here and describe Crawling in Disgust, then is the Blackened D-beat. There are eleven tracks here incl. the Thermonuclear Devastation cover of Onlaught. All and all this is a honest and nice effort and manages to mix D-beat and extreme metal in a cool way. This came out as cassette by Olden Sonorities limited to 50 hand numbered copies and is also available in bandcamp

Seppuku-st demo 2012
Seppuku is a crust/grind band from Zagreb, Croatia featuring members of Krlja, Maljutka, Hesperian Death Horse and many others. Well, they orientate the band as crust/grind but they are rather in the grinding side of things than the crusty one, delivering old school grindcore with hints of crust popping up. There are fourtheen songs and lyrics deal with sociopolitical and anti-religion topics
And a trivia: Seppuku is a form of Japanese ritual suicide by disembowelment

Nuclear Altar-rehearsal
ok, here we are. i got some releases sent by the bands waiting to post but i don't know if i manage to do it soon, i ll try my best and see what will happen, no much free time, no mood and no shit at all. Anyway here go go again: Croatian D-beaters Nuclear Altar entered the studio for some rehearsal, we first met them in the nine track Blessed Ruins, this recording was a really nice surprise to me and later these tracks appeared in the Nuclear Altar/Hellback split tape on Mentalna Smrt 'zine. Here we got them in a rehearsal sometime in April '14, they practice on three new tracks titled Slavonian Funeral, Ghostblood Rituals and Reaper's Cross. The first two tracks seem to bring down the pace while the last one is a typical D-beat crusher, hope to see these in a new release soon along with more songs.

Hellback/Nuclear Altar-split tape (2014, Mentalna Smrt 'zine)
This is a split tape with two bands from Požega, Croatia, Hellback and Nuclear Altar, the split is released by Mentalna Smrt 'zine, this is the 3rd release of this zine which is also behind the Propast/Hellback/No Name/Nuclear Altar split tape. This is the latest recording for both bands, Hellback are some vets of the local scene, on their side we have 9 songs + intro, music varies from hardcore and punk to crust, some lower pace songs and some fast with influences of member's previous bands (Helldis and Fight Back), as well as bands whose covers they play. On other side, Nuclear Altar contribute 10 songs of crushing d-beat crust in style of Discharge, Doom, Hiatus, etc. with a lot of dark/disillusioned atmosphere which is especially visible in lyrics.. beside their songs they did two covers and those are by Discharge and Anti-Cimex, these ten tracks are already on bandcap for the digital release titled Blessed Ruins, (posted here) and was a nice surpsise when i discovered them some months ago. The tape comes out in only 100 copies so if you want to have your own get in touch.. price is 20kn or 3 euros, for all other info write at: jurica (dot) fejer (at) hotmail (dot) com or crufreedom (at) gmail (dot) com. Not any site for Hellback on the web.

Nuclear Altar-Blessed Ruins
Now here's something really great: Nuclear Altar hail from Požega, Croatia and Blessed Ruins is their first release and a great shit of D-beat crusty hardcore. We have met them in January '13 when Velimir from now on hiatus Crucified Freedom contributed the Propast/Hellback/No Name/Nuclear Altar 4 way split tape and kktz from Wasted Potentials and the long gone Corpus Delicti blogs added some infos in comments. Blessed Ruins consists of nine songs of pure old school D-beat having its roots in Discharge, Anti-Cimex, Doom, Hiatus and the likes. The songs run in the expected speed territories, the guitar delivers nice riffage, usual work for D-beat band but some times really interesting, the singer shouts his rhymes in Englsh (lyrics can be found in band's badncamp) and rhythm section bashes with no mercy, some times it slowers the pace mainly in the beginning of some songs. There are two covers here, the classics The Possibility of Life's Destruction by Discharge and Cries of Pain by Anti Cimex, both covered in excellent way. Sound wise there is great work done since there is rawness, distortion, heaviness and dismal darkness, each delivered in the appropriate percentage without the need of reaching chaotic levels just to be able to bring anger and fury. Great stuff! All songs are in the same level, no fillers here. All and all this is a nice piece of D-beat and genre fans will love it. For more infos about Požega punk scene check Wasted Potentials blog. Blessed Ruins is available for free in bandcamp and also a dnld link is provided by the band. Thanx to kktz and best wishes!

Propast/Hellback/No Name/Nuclear Altar-4 way split tape
I got this tape from the cool guy who runs Crucified Freedom webzine, its a split tape with some bands from Požega scene (Croatia), all unknown to me so i will blatantly copy and paste his writting...:
This 4-way split tape was released by Mentalna Smrt fanzine and Crni Flomaster iniciative in only 66 copies and was going for free with 2nd number of Mentalna Smrt zine #2, those 66 pieces has gone long time ago, so here it is now in mp3 format for everyone who failed to get it..
four bands are represented here with their live recordings from the gig that was held at cafe bar Evergreen in Požega, Croatia on December 22th, 2011 which was the last concert in this space, all bands are from Požega..
First we have Propast, one of the latest dis-crust bands from that town, this was, like their 2nd gig or something.. 10 songs including cover of Black Flag's Wasted in something less then 14 min, so you can get some picture what it is about here..Next are No Name, only melodic band playing that night, but don't let that this „melodic“ tricks you.. even if they can be labeled as a punk rock band they sound great live..Then we have Hellback, already veterans on Croatian punk scene playing hardcore with elements of punk and metal.. in their set are included covers of Distress and Disčerge (legendary song Pank Pankerima which is here like some punk hymn)..Last band on the tape is Nuclear Altar, also new band, that was actualy their 1st live performance.. great crust delivered by them, like mixture of early Doom and Discharge but with a lot of that Požega's spirit., perfect..
This is it, many Thanx to V for this, cheers and take care. Check Wasted Potentials blog for more information about Požega scene (thanx kktz!)

Subside-Demo 2009
Subside come from Osijek Croatia and this is their demo. "Band started rehearsal at the end of April 2009, we play raw hc/punk in vein of American and Scandinavian hardcore punk bands. Demo containing 6 tracks was recorded in 2009". Well said:This is fast raw street hardcore punk with a lot of dapa-doupa drumming in every song, sound is raw and decent for the genre.

Stigma-Apokalipsa [promo 2008]
This is rough and metallic hardcore with a crust flavor from Zagreb, Croatia. Unfortunately their myspace has not any text in Εnglish so i have to blatantly copy and paste the following text from Armed Revolution:
"Band started to perform around 12. Mth 2007., Under the name "funeral company". At that time they made their first gigs and they recorded their first demo "Povratak Bombarderasa" with 13 things. Playing hardcore punk, themes are apolitical, describes todays situation of society and the individual in society. First band members were- Čeh-vocal, Klen-guitar, Gradski - BAS, Branko - drums, Backvocal.
After some arguments in the band Čeh has left the band and they are without vocal, but soon after that in the end of 2008 comes Vuk who replaces him, they started to do more stuff and they changed their name to STIGMA."

Disnoise-Pig Flu Demo 2009
Disnoise is a new band coming from the city of Split,in Croatia. Here we have their demo recently recorded i guess, and this is a young band, but managed to put this thing out so every credit to that. It's a five member band, with dual vocals, one is punking the other one is kinda grinding along, with some distorted guitar riffs playing different tunes on each track, but all goes smooth when drums and bass added to it.They offer 4 noisy crustgrind tracks filled with punk all the way down,so id have to say this comes closest to Patareni or Bolesno Grinje,if to be compared. That makes it 4 tracks, outtuned and raw recording,on a demo called Pig Flu.Try it.
