Linz, the capital of Upper Austria lies at the exit of the valley, which was cut by the Danube River through the Bohemian Massif.
The old town of Linz is known for its Baroque houses and backyards of the Renaissance. One of the beautiful is the courtyard of the Landhaus, the seat of the Upper Austrian State Assembly.
The Kremsmünsterer Free House (Free House bishop's court) was in the possession of the Emperor Frederick III until 1493. According to legend, Friedrich III died. here. In 1507 it was bought by the Kremsmünster Abbey and is still the seat of the Bishop of Linz.
In the immediate vincinity of the main square are the former residential buildings of the famous sons of the town, Adalbert Stifter and Johannes Kepler. In the StifterHaus one can find the Adalbert Stifter Institute as well as the Upper Austrian Literature House.
In the neighboring old cathedral, Bruckner was working twelve years as organist starting in 1856. The famous organ was named after him.
Already the Celts settled in Linz. During the Marcomannic Wars, the romans founded the fort Lentia. Afterwards, Linz belonged to the Bavarian dukedoms until 1210. Due to the occupation of Vienna by Matthias Corvinius, Linz was royal seat under Friedrich III. He expanded the castle which had been built on the site of the Roman fort. The motto of the House of Habsburg, the letters A.E.I.O.U. are engraved at the Friedrichstor.
St. Martin's Church, for the first time documentary mentioned in 799, was long considered one of the oldest churches in Austria in original condition.

Linz, die Landeshauptstadt Oberösterreichs liegt am Ausgang des Tales, das die Donau durch die böhmische Masse geschnitten hat.
Die Altstadt von Linz ist bekannt für ihre barocken Häuser und Hinterhöfe der Renaissance. Einer der schönsten ist der Hof des Landhauses, dem Sitz der oberösterreichischen Landesregierung.
Das Kremsmünsterer Freihaus (Freihaus Bischofshof) war bis 1493 im Besitz von Kaiser Friedrich III. Der Legende nach starb Friedrich III. hier. 1507 wurde es vom Stift Kremsmünster gekauft und ist bis heute Sitz des Bischofs von Linz.
In unmittelbarer Nähe zum Hauptplatz befinden sich die ehemaligen Wohnhäuser der berühmten Söhne der Stadt, Adalbert Stifter und Johannes Kepler. Im Stifterhaus befindet sich heute neben dem Adalbert Stifter Institut das Oberösterreichische Literaturhaus.
Im benachbarten alten Dom war Bruckner von 1856 an zwölf Jahre als Organist tätig. Die berühmte Orgel wurde nach ihm benannt.
In Linz siedelten bereits die Kelten. Während der Markomannenkriege gründeten die Römer das Kastell Lentia. Danach gehörte Linz bis 1210 zu den bayerischen Herzogtümern. Unter Friedrich III. war Linz Residenzstadt, da Wien von Matthias Corvinius besetzt war. Er ließ damals das Schloss, das an der Stelle des römischen Kastells errichtet worden war, ausbauen. Am Friedrichstor sind die Buchstaben A.E.I.O.U., das Symbol des Hauses Habsburg, eingraviert.
Die Martinskirche, 799 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt, galt lange als eine der ältesten in ursprünglichem Zustand erhaltenen Kirchen Österreichs.

OÖ LINZ. Verletzt wurde ein Taxifahrer, der kurz vor 15 Uhr mit seinem Wagen beim Bulgariplatz gegen eine Straßenbahn der Linz AG-Linien gefahren ist.
Der Taxifahrer wurde bei dem Unfall verletzt und nach der Erstversorgung ins Spital gebracht. In der straßenbahn waren ca. 100 Fahrgäste, von denen niemand verletzt wurde. Die Straßenbahnfahrerin erlitt einen Schock.
Es gibt derzeit Verzögerungen bei den Straßenbahnen.

Linz
Linz (/ˈlɪnts/; German pronunciation: [ˈlɪnt͡s]; Czech: Linec) is the third-largest city of Austria and capital of the state of Upper Austria (German: Oberösterreich). It is located in the north centre of Austria, approximately 30 kilometres (19 miles) south of the Czech border, on both sides of the River Danube. The population of the city is 193,814, and that of the Greater Linz conurbation is about 271,000. In 2009 Linz, together with the Lithuanian capital Vilnius, was chosen as the European Capital of Culture. Linz is well known for the Linzer torte, which is said to be the oldest cake in the world, with its first recipe dating from 1653.
Geography
Linz is located in the centre of Europe, lying on the Paris–Budapest west–east axis and the Malmö–Trieste north–south axis. The Danube is the main tourism and transport connection that runs through the city.

Adalbert Stifter
Adalbert Stifter (German: [ˈʃtɪftɐ]; 23 October 1805 – 28 January 1868) was an Austrian writer, poet, painter, and pedagogue. He was especially notable for the vivid natural landscapes depicted in his writing and has long been popular in the German-speaking world, while remaining almost entirely unknown to English readers.
Life
Born in Oberplan in Bohemia (now Horní Planá in the Czech Republic), he was the eldest son of Johann Stifter, a wealthy linen weaver, and his wife, Magdalena. Johann died in 1817 after being crushed by an overturned wagon. Stifter was educated at the Benedictine Gymnasium at Kremsmünster, and went to the University of Vienna in 1826 to study law. In 1828 he fell in love with Fanny Greipl, but after a relationship lasting five years, her parents forbade further correspondence, a loss from which he never recovered. In 1835 he became engaged to Amalia Mohaupt, and they married in 1837, but the marriage was not a happy one. Stifter and his wife, unable to conceive, tried adopting three of Amalia's nieces at different times. One of the children ran away, and another, Juliana, disappeared and was found drowned in the Danube four weeks later.

The Symphony No. 36 in C major, KV 425, (known as the Linz Symphony) was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart during a stopover in the Austrian town of Linz on his and his wife's way back home to Vienna from Salzburg in late 1783. The entire symphony was written in four days to accommodate the local count's announcement, upon hearing of the Mozarts' arrival in Linz, of a concert. The première in Linz took place on 4 November, 1783. The composition was also premièred in Vienna on 1 April, 1784. The autograph score of the "Linz Symphony" was not preserved. The symphony is scored for 2 oboes, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, timpani and strings. There are four movements: 1. Adagio, 3/4 — Allegro spiritoso, 4/4 2. Poco adagio, 6/8 3. Menuetto, 3/4 4. Finale (Presto), 2/4. Every movement except the minuet is in sonata form. The slow movement has a siciliano character and meter which was rare in Mozart's earlier symphonies (only used in one of the slow movements of the "Paris") but would appear frequently in later works such as #38 and #40. The next symphony by Mozart is Symphony No. 38. Linz Taxi fuhr gegen Straßenbahn
OÖ LINZ. Verletzt wurde ein Taxifahrer, der kurz vor 15 Uhr mit seinem Wagen beim Bulgariplatz gegen eine Straßenbahn der Linz AG-Linien gefahren ist. Der Taxifahrer wurde bei dem Unfall verletzt und nach der Erstversorgung ins Spital gebracht. In der straßenbahn waren ca. 100 Fahrgäste, von denen niemand verletzt wurde. Mozart - Symphony No. 36 in C, K. 425 [complete] (Linz)
The Symphony No. 36 in C major, KV 425, (known as the Linz Symphony) was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart during a stopover in the Austrian town of Linz on his and his wife's way back home to Vienna from Salzburg in late 1783. The entire symphony was written in four days to accommodate the local count's announcement, upon hearing of the Mozarts' arrival in Linz, of a concert. The première in Linz took place on 4 November, 1783. The composition was also premièred in Vienna on 1 April, 1784. The autograph score of the "Linz Symphony" was not preserved. The symphony is scored for 2 oboes, 2 bassoons, 2 horns, 2 trumpets, timpani and strings. There are four movements: 1. Adagio, 3/4 — Allegro spiritoso, 4/4 2. Poco adagio, 6/8 3. Menuetto, 3/4 4. Germans surrender in Linz (SFP 186)
US-Troops invaded Austria on May 1st. North and south of the Danube, units of the XII. and XX. Corps of the US Third Army moved in and occupied nearly the whole country in less than a week. Linz was evacuated without a fight. The official surrender of the City to Brigadier General Holbrook was executed by Mayor Franz Langoth. On May 9th, the meeting of US and Soviet troops took place on the Enns. The agreement of the German's surrender entered into force on May 9th 1945. The Second World War in Europe ended.

The old town of Linz is known for its Baroque houses and backyards of the Renaissance. One of the beautiful is the courtyard of the Landhaus, the seat of the Upper Austrian State Assembly.
The Kremsmünsterer Free House (Free House bishop's court) was in the possession of the Emperor Frederick III until 1493. According to legend, Friedrich III died. here. In 1507 it was bought by the Kremsmünster Abbey and is still the seat of the Bishop of Linz.
In the immediate vincinity of the main square are the former residential buildings of the famous sons of the town, Adalbert Stifter and Johannes Kepler. In the StifterHaus one can find the Adalbert Stifter Institute as well as the Upper Austrian Literature House.
In the neighboring old cathedral, Bruckner was working twelve years as organist starting in 1856. The famous organ was named after him.
Already the Celts settled in Linz. During the Marcomannic Wars, the romans founded the fort Lentia. Afterwards, Linz belonged to the Bavarian dukedoms until 1210. Due to the occupation of Vienna by Matthias Corvinius, Linz was royal seat under Friedrich III. He expanded the castle which had been built on the site of the Roman fort. The motto of the House of Habsburg, the letters A.E.I.O.U. are engraved at the Friedrichstor.
St. Martin's Church, for the first time documentary mentioned in 799, was long considered one of the oldest churches in Austria in original condition.

In unmittelbarer Nähe zum Hauptplatz befinden sich die ehemaligen Wohnhäuser der berühmten Söhne der Stadt, Adalbert Stifter und Johannes Kepler. Im Stifterhaus befindet sich heute neben dem Adalbert Stifter Institut das Oberösterreichische Literaturhaus.
Im benachbarten alten Dom war Bruckner von 1856 an zwölf Jahre als Organist tätig. Die berühmte Orgel wurde nach ihm benannt.
In Linz siedelten bereits die Kelten. Während der Markomannenkriege gründeten die Römer das Kastell Lentia. Danach gehörte Linz bis 1210 zu den bayerischen Herzogtümern. Unter Friedrich III. war Linz Residenzstadt, da Wien von Matthias Corvinius besetzt war. Er ließ damals das Schloss, das an der Stelle des römischen Kastells errichtet worden war, ausbauen. Am Friedrichstor sind die Buchstaben A.E.I.O.U., das Symbol des Hauses Habsburg, eingraviert.
Die Martinskirche, 799 erstmals urkundlich erwähnt, galt lange als eine der ältesten in ursprünglichem Zustand erhaltenen Kirchen Österreichs.

Linz was evacuated without a fight. The official surrender of the City to Brigadier General Holbrook was executed by Mayor Franz Langoth. On May 9th, the meeting of US and Soviet troops took place on the Enns. The agreement of the German's surrender entered into force on May 9th 1945. The Second World War in Europe ended.

After 3 months of work and shooting more than 10.000 RAW pictures, we finally finished our first big project "Lights of Linz". Besides school we managed it to get awesome shots of Linz at night using timelapse and hyperlapse techniques. I'm doing a solo 10 days around the world trip for my birthday. My first stop is Linz, Austria where I met up with Oliver, who you've met before. Linz is the 3rd largest city in Austria and it's located just about 2 hours away from Vienna. I didn't film my first night there because I was taking a bit of a social media break. But we went up to Pöstlingberg, where you can ride the Linzer Grottenbahn (basically a dragon train for kids, that yes we went on haha) and get some great views of the city. Oh and we also grabbed some ice cream from Surace. Quality dessert. Then the next day we spent our day checking out some viewpoints and having more coffee than we should have. Due to the occupation of Vienna by Matthias Corvinius, Linz was royal seat under Friedrich III. He expanded the castle which had been built on the site of the Roman fort. The motto of the House of Habsburg, the letters A.E.I.O.U. are engraved at the Friedrichstor.
St. Martin's Church, for the first time documentary mentioned in 799, was long considered one of the oldest churches in Austria in original condition.

After 3 months of work and shooting more than 10.000 RAW pictures, we finally finished our first big project "Lights of Linz". Besides school we managed it to get awesome shots of Linz at night using timelapse and hyperlapse techniques.

We coincidentally got the invitation to participate at the Prix Ars Electronica 2016, so that we short termed submitted our shortfilm. Unfortunately we didn't win the contest, but we really appreciate the opportunity to take part at the competition. A short extract from the Juryfeedback (Karl Markovics, Sirikit Amann, Conny Lee, Beate Großegger, Gerhard Funk): "[...] Urban Motion zeigt Linz als pulsierende Stadt! Schön fanden wir auch, dass Urban Motion so viele unterschiedliche Plätze für ihre Aufnahmen gewählt hat, um die Vielfalt der Linzer Lichter mit der Kamera einzufangen. - If you don't have monthly ticket, you should buy it in the ticket machine which cost around 9 euros (return)
- Go with the tram which has a beige color andit's written 'Postlingberg'
- There is also a mini park there where you can spend your time with your children there.

The Danube is a European river and although the Volga is longer and the Rhine is of greater economic importance, no other river flows through ten countries almost three thousand kilometres from its source within the Black Forest, to its delta estuary in the Black Sea. Donau-Eschingen is the birthplace of the Danube whose source is situated in the gardens of Fürstenberg Castle in which, on the top of the Mother Baar Fountain, is her daughter, the young Danube, who points towards the Black Sea. After around two hundred kilometres in the valley of the Young Danube, the famous river reaches Ulm, an important centre of trade. The Minster Of Ulm is a masterpiece of European Gothic and, rising up a hundred and sixty one metres, its church tower is the highest in the world. Donauwörth developed from a fishing settlement on the Wörnitz island of Ried from where the river flows into the Danube. In 877 A.D. a bridge was built across the Danube and an intersection of European trade routes was created. Linz, the capital city of Upper Austria, owes its good fortune to its strategic location at the junction of the Traun. On the main square, an ornately decorated Trinity Column marks the spot where the mediaeval Salt Road reached the market square. The Babenbergs built the city as a border fortress against the Bavarians. The capital of Hungary, Budapest, is the Pearl On The Danube, an ancient international city. High above the banks of the Danube is Buda’s Castle Hill with its imposing Castle Palace. The Danube ends in the port town of Sulina Delta in which a cathedral serves as a reminder of liberation from the Turks. In this natural universe of land and water, which originated almost ten thousand years ago, nearly three thousand kilometres of river come to an end. The Danube is a multicultural European lifeline, a magnificent waterway that flows through both history and time.

The Danube is a European river and although the Volga is longer and the Rhine is of greater economic importance, no other river flows through ten countries almost three thousand kilometres from its source within the Black Forest, to its delta estuary in the Black Sea. Donau-Eschingen is the birthplace of the Danube whose source is situated in the gardens of Fürstenberg Castle in which, on the top of the Mother Baar Fountain, is her daughter, the young Danube, who points towards the Black Sea. After around two hundred kilometres in the valley of the Young Danube, the famous river reaches Ulm, an important centre of trade. The Minster Of Ulm is a masterpiece of European Gothic and, rising up a hundred and sixty one metres, its church tower is the highest in the world. Donauwörth developed from a fishing settlement on the Wörnitz island of Ried from where the river flows into the Danube. In 877 A.D. a bridge was built across the Danube and an intersection of European trade routes was created. Linz, the capital city of Upper Austria, owes its good fortune to its strategic location at the junction of the Traun. On the main square, an ornately decorated Trinity Column marks the spot where the mediaeval Salt Road reached the market square. The Babenbergs built the city as a border fortress against the Bavarians. The capital of Hungary, Budapest, is the Pearl On The Danube, an ancient international city. High above the banks of the Danube is Buda’s Castle Hill with its imposing Castle Palace. The Danube ends in the port town of Sulina Delta in which a cathedral serves as a reminder of liberation from the Turks. In this natural universe of land and water, which originated almost ten thousand years ago, nearly three thousand kilometres of river come to an end. The Danube is a multicultural European lifeline, a magnificent waterway that flows through both history and time.

I'm doing a solo 10 days around the world trip for my birthday. My first stop is Linz, Austria where I met up with Oliver, who you've met before. Linz is the 3rd largest city in Austria and it's located just about 2 hours away from Vienna.
I didn't film my first night there because I was taking a bit of a social media break. But we went up to Pöstlingberg, where you can ride the Linzer Grottenbahn (basically a dragon train for kids, that yes we went on haha) and get some great views of the city. Oh and we also grabbed some ice cream from Surace. Quality dessert.
Then the next day we spent our day checking out some viewpoints and having more coffee than we should have. Friedlieb und Töchter is one of the cutest little cafes I've ever been too. Definitely resonates a Pinterest perfect vibe in there. But aesthetics is not everything. Their coffee is also superb and the banana loaf was delicious.
And then I remembered that I needed to try a Linzer Torte. It's a cake that originates in Linz and it's actually the world's oldest cake! The oldest recipe for it dates all the way back to 1653. It's best with some milk or coffee. We got ours from Konditorei Jindrak Stammhaus & Kunstcafé.
So Linz is located only an hour away from Attersee, the largest lake in upper Austria. Of course I couldn't miss seeing it! We woke up early and were able to get the entire lake basically to ourselves. There was virtually no one there when we took our little motor boat out.
Then we were craving lunch with a view so we headed to Hotel & Panoramagasthof Druckerhof. Here you can get a tasty meal with a gorgeous view of the lake from above. Totally worth it!
