Officials at the most senior levels across the U.S. military, attempting since Monday to determine what President Trump may have agreed to on national security issues at his private meeting in Helsinki with Russian President Vladimir Putin, had little to no information on Wednesday. The administration has offered few specifics on meetings that the president described as a “tremendous success.”

Setting off a new round of criticism from lawmakers in both parties, the president said "no" when asked if he thought Russia was still targeting the U.S. — prompting the White House to assert hours later that his words had been misconstrued. Trump later told CBS News that he holds Vladimir Putin responsible for Russian interference in the 2016 campaign.

Trade restrictions aimed at preventing U.S. jobs from heading elsewhere have instead hampered one company’s effort to create jobs in the United States.
