A state university system in the United States is a group of public universities supported by an individual state, or a similar entity such as the District of Columbia. These systems constitute the majority of public-funded universities in the country. Each state supports at least one such system.
State university systems should not be confused with federally funded colleges and universities, at which attendance is limited to military personnel and government employees. Members of foreign militaries and governments also attend some schools. These schools include the United States military academies, Naval Postgraduate School, and military staff colleges.
A state university system normally means a single legal entity and administration, but may consist of several institutions, each with its own identity as a university. Some states—such as California and Texas—support more than one such system.
State universities get subsidies from their states. The amount of the subsidy varies from university to university and state to state, but the effect is to lower tuition costs below that of private universities for students from that state or district. As more and more Americans attend college, and private tuition rates increase well beyond the rate of inflation, admission to state universities is becoming more and more competitive.
North Carolina (i/ˌnɔːrθ kærəˈlaɪnə/) is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. The state borders South Carolina and Georgia to the south, Tennessee to the west, Virginia to the north, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. North Carolina is the 28th most extensive and the 9th most populous of the 50 United States. North Carolina is known as the Tar Heel State and the Old North State.
North Carolina is composed of 100 counties. Its two largest metropolitan areas are among the top ten fastest-growing in the country: its capital, Raleigh, and its largest city, Charlotte. In the past five decades, North Carolina's economy has undergone a transition from reliance upon tobacco, textiles, and furniture-making to a more diversified economy with engineering, energy, biotechnology, and finance sectors.
North Carolina has a wide range of elevations, from sea level on the coast to 6,684 feet (2,037 m) at Mount Mitchell, the highest point in North America east of the Mississippi River. The climate of the coastal plains is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the state falls in the humid subtropical climate zone. More than 300 miles (500 km) from the coast, the western, mountainous part of the state has a subtropical highland climate.
North Carolina State University, officially North Carolina State University at Raleigh, is a public, coeducational, research university located in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States. Commonly known as NC State or simply State, the university is part of the University of North Carolina system and is a land, sea, and space grant institution. The university forms one of the corners of the Research Triangle together with Duke University in Durham and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The North Carolina General Assembly founded the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, now NC State, on March 7, 1887, as a land-grant college. Today, NC State has an enrollment of more than 34,000 students, making it the largest university in the Carolinas. NC State has historical strengths in engineering, agriculture, life sciences, textiles and design and now offers 106 bachelor's degrees. The graduate school offers 104 master's degrees, 61 doctoral degrees, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.

Owen Hall (10 April 1853 – 9 April 1907) was the principal pen name of the Irish-born theatre writer, racing correspondent, theatre critic and solicitor, James "Jimmy" Davis, when writing for the stage. After his successive careers in law and journalism, Hall wrote the librettos for a series of extraordinarily successful musical comedies in the 1890s and the first decade of the 1900s, including A Gaiety Girl, An Artist's Model, The Geisha, A Greek Slave and Florodora. Despite his achievements, Hall was constantly in financial distress because of his gambling and extravagant lifestyle; his pseudonym was a pun on "owing all".
Born in a Jewish household, Hall was the eldest son of an English dentist who practised in Dublin and later became a portrait photographer in London, Hyman Davis (1824–1875), and his wife Isabella (1824–1900), whose maiden name was also Davis. The Davis family returned to London in the 1850s, and James graduated from University College, London, as a Bachelor of Laws in 1869. Among his eight siblings were Julia, a successful novelist under the name "Frank Danby", who married businessman Arthur Frankau and was the mother of author Gilbert Frankau and comedian Ronald Frankau and grandmother of novelist Pamela Frankau and actress Rosemary Frankau; Eliza, who was the journalist "Mrs. Aria" and long-time lover of actor Henry Irving; Harrie (1864–1920), who became a journalist in the US; and Florence ("Florette") who authored a novel and married Marcus E. Collins, brother of Arthur Collins, the manager of the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.
A virtual tour geared towards out of state students who are unable to make it to campus for our normal campus tours. Update: This video was done as a project for my ambassadors class. I graduated in 2013, and the campus has changed so much since then, and for the better! I highly recommend everyone come and see it for yourself, because the updates are truly amazing, including the new Tally Student Center. Definitely wish I could of taken advantage of that as a student!

2014-2015 was officially the year that was for me and my beautiful friends. This video sums up my 3rd year at North Carolina State University as I created some of the best friendships I have ever had, tried to find true love, conquered my first college spring break, was a bomb residents advisor in Turlinton Hall, and just filled every waking moment in between with fun! This is what it's really like being a college student. I am blessed BEYOND measure.
https://www.ncsu.edu/ NC State was founded to solve problems and serve the community. North Carolinians already know that. It’s part of why, in 2016, they passed the Connect NC Bond, which secures $160 million for engineering and agriculture projects on NC State’s campus. It’s why they share our research successes — battling Zika, cracking CRISPR, decoding genetics — far and wide. It’s why they root for the red and white on the field and the court, at the speedway or in a swimming pool in Rio. It’s why they’re joining our $1.6 billion campaign to Think and Do the Extraordinary. Learn much, much more about our extraordinary 2016 at https://news.ncsu.edu/series/extraordinary-2016/

The elapsed time for a change made by a developer to reach a customer can now be measured in days or even hours, causing many fundamental changes to software development models. Continuous deployment is a software engineering process where incremental software changes are automatically tested, and frequently deployed to production environments. Continuous deployment was born out of a need to reduce the overhead, to increase the speed of deployment, and to decrease the technical challenge of replicating the production environment for the purposes of testing. To study this new process, a one-day Continuous Deployment Summit was held at the Facebook campus in July 2015. The Summit attended by one person from 10 companies, and facilitated by three researchers from North Carolina State Universi...

Students address sample problems from leaders in diverse sectors from Proctor and Gamble to the Houston Astros and various government organizations. According to Rappa, as businesses and government continue to grow in the...
im a mile and a half off of the tracks
in Raleigh, North Carolina
with my
foot all jammed up from driving
14 hours
and my body cant sit upright
hanging around watching the t.v. on mute
listening to all of my money making peers
yeah and its
hard not to go to that
place in my head
thatll stop me from ever leaving this room
yeah and its all so confusing
because im all worked up
because all my thoughts are tangled into one
panicked line of white noise
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness yeah that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
is just going to
disappear
because ever since I left you
ive got no one to call
ive got nothing to do but sit around and think about
how I could have not hurt you
I am so sick of feeling so sorry for myself you know I
go from I go from insanely happy
to no I dont want to be around anybody else
im not sure if you know exactly how you feel about me
let me tell you how you
feel about me
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness yeah that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
is just going
disappear
so I pretend im connected
I pretend I can feel
I pretend I care about what you think
cause intensity
its never really
been a problem for me
so im sorry if I scared you
I just want to be loved...
drown out the voices
drown out the noise
drown out the bitterness that I have stored
drown out my wanting
drown out the fear
you know that everything ive worked for
