My ancestors, when they first came to America from China to build the railroads, they could not have envisioned, that one day, one of their descendants would be characterized as a privileged white bro. I am the living embodiment of the American Dream.

My hot boomer take: Many of America’s ills start with losers who don’t want to face up to the fact that they are losers, and refuse acknowledge a loss and learn from it.

Gun ownership in America is popular because insecure masculinity is rampant. Any civilized country would keep them locked up at a range for sport. Here, we're a male society of failures and losers who fantasize about being John Wick to escape from our dull reality.

I was reading this thread and felt that the judge’s name was familiar. I relized he was judge behind the Star Trek benchslap.
Quote Tweet
The judge is Otis D. Wright II, a 2007 Bush appointee. He’s had this case for two years, and his recusal yesterday follows his granting of a mistrial at the defense’s request. The same defense he now says he can’t trust.

Ha ha, you fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which is “never get involved in a land war in Asia” - but only slightly less well known is this: “Never write down your time entries and only input them at the end of the month.”

Me: I’d rather write down my time entries and then input them at the end of the month. Also me trying to read my own handwriting:

I immediately texted this tweet to my wife. I then realized this is probably how the magic disappears from the relationship. But then we’re parents of twin toddlers. Do we even have the time and energy for magic when we’ll have to arrange for childcare to go 11 Madison?
Quote Tweet
Great hack I just discovered - you can drop into Eleven Madison Park for a drink. No dress code, no reservation needed, cocktails are $25 but for one of the best restaurants in the world that's not crazy. Impress a date then go somewhere else that isn't $335/person for dinner...

This is what they mean by “doing your due diligence.”

So let's get this straight. You can pretend to buy something, then use that pretext to dig around and plumb inside proprietary data and then go, uh maybe never mind?
This thread makes me want to install Uber, and order a ton of food through Uber Eats.

If I may, I'd like to speak to this from the drivers side, explaining how the Driver app works... and how drivers help generate these losses, as this is a tale of the two great tensions in modern America: 1. Earning a living wage 2. Paying as little as possible So a 🧵of my own twitter.com/alisongriswold…

Marjorie Taylor Greene said last night: "$40 billion for Ukraine, but there's no baby formula for American mothers and babies... Stop funding regime change and money laundering scams." Here's how Jamie Raskin responded on behalf of House Democrats, now a 100% war-crazed party

At the pharmacy to pick up my free* home covid tests (THANKS BIDEN). Person behind counter had to fill out a form by hand and fax it before handing over the tests. It’s 2022 and I’m getting a covid test like some kid committing to play at a D1 school. *covered by my insurance

Next time I am in DC, I will visit this museum.
Quote Tweet
I love the Postal Museum, it’s just a deranged retelling of US history where the only thing that matters is the mail There’s a photo of the Kitty Hawk flight with the caption, “This plane did not carry mail … but future planes would.” twitter.com/JosephPolitano…

Again Roe v. Wade’s use of “viability” as the point where abortion can be outlawed in the decision is consistent with over 1000 years of English-American legal tradition.
Quote Tweet
Alito is wrong on the law, wrong on the morality, but also, as it happens wrong on the history. For most of the first 250 years since the English colonized the US, abortion was legal prior the quickening, typically 16-20 weeks, when a fetus could be felt to move.

It’s not a matter of “ancient law” under traditional notions of anglo saxon common law; it’s only murder if a miscarriage happens after quickening. The “let’s stick to tradition” folks sure love to pervert tradition when it suits their means.
Quote Tweet
It talks about fetuses being people as a matter of ancient law (teeing up idea that fetuses are constitutionally PROTECTED – no abortion anywhere as matter of conlaw.) And its arguments undermine all of SCOTUS’s gay rights and contraception decisions.

The only thing that would make this tweet the perfect distillation of my internet habits is if it also included an interview with a famous Asian implying that you can’t really be a successful Asian without owning a two-tone Rolex Datejust.

Something Adam nailed it when he explained that much of the left is simply reactionary to American imperialist doctrine rather than coherent about war and conflict so it leads to dumb shit like this.

Working from home this morning to accommodate an appointment with a plumber. Plumber showed up 1.5 hours early, at the same time a conference call was supposed to start. Joined call late when client sent a “where are you?” email. Forgot to mute. So much winning this morning.
