Miranda Jennifer July (born Miranda Jennifer Grossinger on February 15, 1974) is an American film director, screenwriter, actor, author and artist. Her body of work includes film, fiction, monologue, digital media presentations, and live performance art. She wrote, directed and starred in the films Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005) and The Future (2011). Her most recent book, debut novel The First Bad Man, was published in January 2015.
Miranda Jennifer July was born in Barre, Vermont in 1974, the daughter of Lindy Hough and Richard Grossinger. Her parents, who taught at Goddard College at the time, are both writers. In 1974 they founded North Atlantic Books, a publisher of alternative health, martial arts, and spiritual titles. Her father was Jewish, and her mother was Protestant. July was encouraged to work on her short fiction by author and friend of a friend Rick Moody.
Miranda grew up in Berkeley, California, where she first began writing plays and staging them at the all-ages club 924 Gilman. She attended The College Preparatory School in Oakland for high school. She later attended UC Santa Cruz, dropping out in her sophomore year. After leaving college, she moved to Portland, Oregon and took up performance art. Her performances were successful; she has been quoted as saying she has not worked a day job since she was 23 years old.

Plot: Incarcerated and charged with murder, David Aames Jr. is telling the story of how he got to where he is to McCabe, the police psychologist. That story includes: being the 51% shareholder of a major publishing firm, which he inherited from his long deceased parents; the firm's board, appointed by David Aames Sr., being the 49% shareholders who would probably like to see him gone as they see him as being too irresponsible and immature to run the company; his best bro friendship with author, Brian Shelby; his "friends with benefits" relationship with Julie Gianni, who saw their relationship in a slightly different light; his budding romance with Sofia Serrano, who Brian brought to David's party as his own date and who Brian saw as his own possible life mate; and being in an accident which disfigured his face and killed the person who caused the accident. But as the story proceeds, David isn't sure what is real and what is a dream/nightmare as many facets of the story are incompatible to be all real. The mysterious man in the restaurant may be able to shed some light on David's confusion.

Miranda July is best known for her Cannes-award winning career as a filmmaker. She began her career in performance and has continued to create across many mediums, including producing apps. In this film July explains how live performance allowed her to ‘engage in the present moment’ and feel the immediacy of the audience ‘right here, right now’. Her work continues to challenge and engage the viewer by blurring the line between performance and film – most notably in 2011’s The Future which featured some key scenes originally conceived and staged in her performance work and began with the self-imposed question – how do you turn ‘a performance into a movie?’ Discover more about Performance Art: http://www.tate.org.uk/learn/online-resources/glossary/p/performance-art Subscribe for weekly f...

Miranda July (Me and You and Everyone We Know), who last visited in 2000 to show video and performance work from her Big Miss Moviola project, returns with her second feature, The Future, which premiered at the Sundance and Berlin film festivals. No question, Portuguese-Brazilian singer Carmen Miranda was a household name in American entertainment throughout the 1940s and into the 1950s. Anyone who is a fan of the Technicolor extravaganza movie musicals have no doubt seen her. It’s difficult, if not impossible to miss her. Her signature platform shoes, her outrageous head-gear and her larger-than-life persona made her an instant icon to millions. Aside from that, she had a long and very active stage and recording career. It would be safe to say her introduction to many American audiences to Brazilian music did a considerable amount to cast light on a fascinating and very rich musical genre. And she paved the way for many other Brazilian artists to gain popularity worldwide ever since. And her iconic fashion statement goes without ...

View more of her interview at http://www.makers.com/miranda-july. Experimenting is necessary in the arts. July shares how she pushes forward with her ideas, despite criticisms. When Miranda July (née Miranda Jennifer Grossinger) dropped out of college to move to Portland in the 90s, it was clear she was already adept at conveying gravitas. Through a manner that would hint at her proclivity for creative storytelling, she told her parents of her departure through letters recorded on cassette tapes left with her brother, in order to create a "real sense of drama" about her decision to leave school. These early experiments communicating through multimedia matured into a lifetime of award-winning performances and writing. Miranda July is now a filmmaker, artist and writer. She is the author...

This series is designed as a primer for the newest beginners with Hows, Whys, and tips, tricks, and shortcuts to build a factory, all the way through the megabase stage of the game! I'll start off using a couple of QoL mods, **nothing game-changing**, to make the YT experience better. Mod List: (mods.factorio.com) Upgrade Builder & Planner (removes tedium of manually replacing belts) Afraid of the Dark (lighting for YT) Ghost Copier (copies recipes from BPs when placing machines) Module Inserter (allows more efficient module insertion) Nanobots (early game bots to assist with repetitive building) Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxlpQMJt8XA&list;=PL4o6UvJIdPNooxA4WQskzhF0_qe5GTMED Blueprint Strings: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0BwVHGs2mds_XRUVCekwxYnNldnc?usp=shari...

Apple CEO Tim Cook opened a new startup hub at the University of Oxford on Wednesday called The Oxford Foundry. The facility, based out of a Victorian building previously used as an ice factory and a student night club, has been backed with a $1 million donation from LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman. It will aim to support entrepreneurial students as they look to set up and grow their own companies. The Oxford Foundry — a part of the university's Saïd Business School — will be open to all students, as well as Oxford alumni. There will be an exclusive startup accelerator programme where students with the best ideas will be housed and given mentorship. Speaking at the launch, Louise Richards, vice chancellor of the University of Oxford, said The Oxford Foundry is "going to build on the ent...
Predicting the future is seldom a sure thing but that didn''t stop Rupert, Ralph and Terence in this trialogue at Esalen back in '92. Many of the issues they discuss remain unresolved today, long past the turn of the millennium and 2012. What is the nature of the political and social world that we should construct for ourselves and for our children? The problem of future-phobia within our society. How can society be reconstructed and improved? The crisis in values in our society. The incompatibility of capitalism and democracy. The need for intervention. Rethinking the notion of freedom. Could the idea of the eschaton be working against change? The need for leadership with positive guiding visions. Where will the new positive vision come from? What could trigger the next major shift? The...

Everything around here makes me sad
Everything is part of the dreams that we had
That will never be the way we wanted them to be
When we dreamed these dreams that we had
We wanted them to be the future
That is now is not how we dreamed of the future
With a house and a love that I would ride into the future
With my arms around you tight
My love in your heart, my lust on your shoulder
Is like a beautiful [Incomprehensible]
Flashing gallant as a stallion on parade through the city
A beautiful dream, a bohemian love song
That would only sound more gallant as the years would perfect it
But I can see in my heart which is beating in the present here and now
I can see that this is only a dream
Come on and wake up with me
Hey, come on and wake up with me
Hey, come on and wake up with me
Everything around here is so beautiful
Everything is part of the dreams we will paint
That will never look the way we thought that they would look
When we began to step into the future
From the place that we are standing
It don't look too good right now
But I know you're a wonderful painter
You're a master with your colors
And as mine get fainter and your pallet
There will always be an afterglow of a beautiful dream
That will never be the way we dreamed it to be
But hey, come on and wake up with me
Hey, come on and wake up with me
Hey, come on and wake up with me
Hey, come on and wake up with me
