Lord Green "Last Demo"

This is the second band that Fan The Flames Records sent for review.
Lord Green is Quad Cities, Illinois based band and they play hardcore mixed with sludgy parts which is winning combination if you ask me.
This is their last demo from the series of couple of them and the demo opens with slow, heavy, sludgy instrumental track and then goes to hardcore punk hell with buzzing bass and then again sludgy parts here and there (ha-ha, another marvelous piece of music review, courtesy of me).
All in all I love this a lot and it is great ganja fuelled stoner punk with tracktitles like Higher Than God as proof of that (even though that is one of the faster tracks).
If you want more info, here are their web and MySpace pages and if you wanna buy the tape, go here.

Youwretch "Youwretch" EP

Another contribution I got (almost 5 months ago - sorry for that) is from Fan The Flames Records with links for Youwretch and Lord Green releases. I don't have intention to publish reviews for everything I get through the mail, but since I am totally lazy lately and Fan The Flames Records seem to have really good bands under their wing I am happy to give them a couple of reviews. Look out for their releases.
Youwretch is Minneapolis based hardcore punk band that sound a bit like stoner brothers of Tragedy (without too much of the stoner bit) and this is their debut EP. They are currently working on songs for their upcoming full length and if you are from their hometown, you can get a physical copy of this EP at Extreme Noise Records.
Fan The Flames Records' page says that a limited run of 7" vinyl is in the works, but I don't know if it has already been released or not.

Absolute Zero s/t 7"

I got this 7" (with some more records) after my friends' sister stopped being punk and didn't needed her records anymore. It didn't quite catch on me at first, but now that I've listened to it for the second time, I actually quite like it.
Unfortunately, I don't know nothing about them except that they're from Portland, so, if you know something more, feel free to add some more info.

Mother Night "Extinct Dialects" EP

I haven't checked my e-mail for a few weeks, and now I've found this: Mother Night, the band from New Bedford, Massachusetts, USA.
Joel, the drummer of this band asked me if I could host their new demo on my blog, so I gave it a listen and loved it enough to try to help the guys out. He described the band as 3-piece instrumental noise/math/doom band and their MySpace says they're grime/psychedelic/shoegaze. Since I'm quite an ignorant on music genres (for one of these I've never even heard of before), I'll let you decide what kind of music they're playing. During the more frantic melodies, they remind me a bit of Raped Teenagers.
This is released in limited run of 200 copies and is also available as free download in all flavors of music formats you prefer right here. Here you have 320 kbps mp3 version.

Grotus "Edward Abbey/Cash Cow" 7"

Another one of rarely played records. In fact when I first bought it I have listened to it quite a bit, but it somehow always slipped from the listening line in next 15+ years. That is not strange since this is kinda industrial music and that's not my cup of tea (well-coffee, since I rarely drink tea too). Here and here you can find more extensive info on the band and I'll give you just a few words. They were from San Francisco, USA and this record is one of their first outputs (if not the first) their music was mainly labeled as industrial, but there were lot of other musical genres present and they became quite popular among wide circles of music fans and their second LP came out on Alternative Tentacles. After that, during post-Nirvana major label craze for indie bands they were signed by London Records which was very short affair since they were not actually "hit" material. They disbanded in 1997 and their website describes major label stunt like this:
The band encourages all other groups to think carefully before going to major labels, and to really figure who can and will do what for you. Trust no one!
BTW - this single was benefit for Bay Area Earth First!

Masskontroll/Heartline split 7"

Masskontroll as you know were Punks from Portland who thought that they're Swedes with Japanese parents and Heartline were I guess sure that they're from Czech Republic so they are screaming their side of this split in their native tongue. Hillbilly Blitzkrieg/Welfare split 7"

Another one from my friends' bag (see last post) and this time it's boozer Shangri-la. First of all, you have to know that we've drank literally gallons of various types of booze over the years that we know each other and when I saw this in a record store in Amsterdam I knew that this wold be great gift for him.
Anyway, what you have here is two punk bands that sing about booze (well - in 5 out of 6 songs), even in a song about killing all the cops. No brainer, but it is a lot of fun. I believe that these bands are made just for fun of it by Tulsa hardcore crew since this 7" was released on Brother Inferior's label and both bands recorded their stuff in NOTA World Headquarters plus on Welfare's "Life Sucks... Stay Drunk" guest vocalist is Jeff Klein of N.O.T.A. fame. If lyrics like "Bitches won't kiss me, but the bottle will" don't offend you you might well enjoy this.

URBN DK "Human Indifference" 7"

URBN DK was a hardcore band from Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA. I've discovered them in 90s when their guitarist (if I remember right) contacted me for a reason that I don't actually remember (all my letters from that time are boxed at my fathers place). Anyway, he sent me this 7" and I loved it a lot (high quality patch from it is still on my old camo shorts) plus around the same time I got a tape from his friend and his band Bitchslap who also kicked ass and if I remember right they were supposed to have 7" out soon. I don't believe that I've made an interview with them for a zine that I did at the time which is a shame same as never buying another record of theirs (they had some stuff on Beer City Records that I saw on some ads in zines). Anyway, this 7" is really great hardcore record that ends with really great punk song that sounds like early 80s american punk bands. Excellent!
After the demise of URBN DK some members formed excellent grindcore band Despite.
And for the short history of URBN DK, this is what their MySpace page says:
Way back in 1980, URBN DK was born. They started off as a more punk rock style band being punk and snotty. As time went on URBN DK played out a lot and were a big part of the scene. Then they broke up. Around 1990 Bob (guitarist) got URBN DK back together. This time though his goal was not punk rock but fast blistering HXC. Many line up changes and many releases later, the URBN DK machine was put to rest...or was it?

Deformed Conscience "Constant Strife" 7"

I'm not gonna write their history. To see that go to their MySpace. I'm just gonna say that this is the way to play crust and this is surely one of my favourite records of 90s. This is released on their own label Adversity Records and cover artwork for this 7" is done by THE artist for your crust records - Marald (who was then known as Shitface). He also did shitloads of drawings for other stuff, but you already know that.
After you listen to this go to Unrest Records and buy discography double LP "Hagen Days" which they released in 2007 (again with Marald's cover).

Unamused "Haven't You Been Deceived " LP

Unamused was political band from Portland, Oregon, USA. They had two 7"s and this LP and that's about all I know about them. Funny enough, that's all that their ex-bassist Todd knows too! He's doing their MySpace page but there's not much more info than here. They existed from 1991-93 and when they disbanded the members teamed up with the leftovers from two more legendary Portland anarcho punk bands Deprived and Resist and formed the mighty Defiance that made THE punk album of the 90s.
The drumming style (beating the snare twice) reminds me of an short-lived band of mine with Vice (formerly of Apatridi) drumming.
This LP was relased by now defunct Allied Recordings run by John Yates who also run Stealworks which did numerous covers for hardcore punk releases (Alternative Tentacles releases were my first contact with his work), books and what not. Produced by Slayer Hippy of Poison Idea fame.
Intro is not on the LP tracklist, but I've split it into a separate song.

Naked Aggression "Right Now" 7"

During the 90s these hollywood anarcho punks have been working their asses off and have been quite active touring, doing benefit gigs and recording. Their love for activist/political side of punk was shown when they cheated their way into Bullshit Detector 4 compilation done by swiss label Resistance Productions, Loony Tunes and two more. The thing with the Bullshit Detector compilations (same as 3 previous on Crass records) was that the bands on it had to have no previous vinyl release so they appeared on it by changing their name to Naked A's (that song later appeared on split 7" with Aus-Rotten). Clever.
Anyway, this is great band carrying some fine tunes and I used to listen to them quite a lot.
The 7" is untitled (on the cover) but the label site says it's called Right Now after the first song.
Here's their website, but I'm not sure if they're doing it since its quite uninformative / incomplete discography etc...

Dogma Mundista "Destiny Or Greed" LP

Great political hardcore punk band from California that I never actually knew nothing about. Bought this on recommendation.
This is what I've found out on the web about this band (band members actually).
The singer Cejas played in Tijuana punk band named Solution Mortal that played with the likes of Dead Kennedys, Discharge and Battalion Of Saints. Later when he left Tijuana and went to L.A. he started the band Synod that played with English Dogs and when they disbanded Dogma Mundista was born. After they disbanded he formed kickass psychobilly band called Calavera.
The bassist Ray Gunn later was in Glycine Max and Scarred For Life. Is infamous for drinking and partying for weeks non-stop. Eats broken glass when hungry!
Also found an interview with Chaos U.K. where they said that they're gonna release Dogma Mundista 7" since they recorded some stuff in their LA studio, but didn't found nothing about it. Feel free to fill in some more information in the comments.

Disrupt/Nausea "Tech.No.Logic Cancer" split live LP

Bootleg time!!!
I bought this thing in a local shop somewhere around year 2000 I think. The cover says it's from Cuba with the address of Into Paul Ndez (a name?, a label?) and it's printed in 189 copies only. God, I love this stuff. Oh, yes! And on the record there's no serial numbers from the manufacturer 'cause they're scratched. And I wonder why there's no more info about this release on the web.
Anyway, it says the Disrupt stuff is live in Europe 1993 and Nausea is live in the USA 1990. This was a nightmare to rip because the tracklist of Disrupt was totally wrong and I've quit on splitting all Nausea songs 'cause they sorta melt one with another. What could make this more interesting is Disrupt song Shut (if I've understood the singer correctly) that's never been released anywhere else as far as I know.
The sound is not too bad, so enjoy.

Warpath/Jim Jones Party Mix split 7"

...And Now Back To Our Programming.
If somebody noticed, I've been gone for two weeks that I spent on the coast (one week working and one week doing nothing). Glad to see the number of visitors still going up and some new comments appeared. Thanx.
So, what we have here is a split 7" of two US bands that I bought just because it had Simon Gane's drawing on the cover. I knew nothing about the bands and still I cannot find out anything about Jim Jones Party Mix (except that they were from Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin), and I've managed to find Warpath's MySpace page and some more info. They were queercore band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and they also had split 7" with Population Control, their side on 4 way split 2x10" compilation called "Fear Persuasion Violence Obedience" with Capitalist Casualties, Cripple Bastards and Masskontroll. There's gonna be discography CD out too. JJPM play political hardcore punk.
At the time when I bought this I was very happy to hear the Warpath singer shouting "fuck you I'm queer" as there wasn't too many anti-homophobic songs that I've heard since Oi Polloi's "When two men kiss".

Calloused/Shitlist split CD

I'm a bit lazy so I'll just copy the review from Profane Existence here. It sez it all.
Minneapolis' Calloused (ex-State of Fear, Mankind?, etc.) blast out with nine new tracks of powerful, female-fronted crust onslaught and have a wickedly brutal production sorely lacking on their previous 12". Backing them up are another nine new sick and brutal tracks from Seattle's Shitlist (ex-Decrepit, Deformed Conscience, Whorehouse of Reps., etc.). All of the new songs here were recorded for a soon to be released split LP, also to come out on Fired Up! Records. However, the CD totally rocks because as a bonus it contains six additional Calloused tracks from their "Masquerade" 12", plus Shitlist's "A Cold Slap of Reality" EP in it's entirety.

Resist "Free" 7"

Nothing to say about this bunch, you already know it all. One of the best political punk bands in the 90s. One of the best political punk bands ever, actually.
Just few facts about the record. This 7" was released in Poland, last song is recorded live in 1992 at El Paso Squat, Torino, Italy and the 7" has way too long (4 min.) intro and that's why I've made it as a separate song so I can skip it.
My 7" came with photocopied covers so the picture quality isn't quite good.
