St Andrews (Latin: S. Andrea(s);Scots: Saunt Aundraes;Scottish Gaelic: Cill Rìmhinn) is a former royal burgh on the east coast of Fife in Scotland, 10 miles (16 km) southeast of Dundee and 30 miles (50 km) northeast of Edinburgh. The town is home to the University of St Andrews, the third oldest university in the English-speaking world and the oldest in Scotland. The University is an integral part of the burgh, and during term time students make up approximately one third of the town's population. St Andrews has a population of 16,680, making it the fifth largest settlement in Fife.
The town is named after Saint Andrew the Apostle. There has been an important church in St Andrews since at least the 8th century, and a bishopric since at least the 11th century. The settlement grew to the west of St Andrews cathedral with the southern side of the Scores to the north and the Kinness burn to the south. The burgh soon became the ecclesiastical capital of Scotland, a position which was held until the Scottish Reformation. The famous cathedral, the largest in Scotland, now lies in ruins.
The University of St Andrews (informally known as St Andrews University or simply St Andrews; abbreviated as St And, from the Latin Sancti Andreae, in post-nominals) is a public research university in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. It is the oldest of the four ancient universities of Scotland and the third oldest university in the English-speaking world (following Oxford and Cambridge). St Andrews was founded between 1410 and 1413, when the Avignon Antipope Benedict XIII issued a papal bull to a small founding group of Augustinian clergy.
St Andrews is made up from a variety of institutions, including three constituent colleges (United College, St Mary's College, and St Leonard's College) and 18 academic schools organised into four faculties. The university occupies historic and modern buildings located throughout the town. The academic year is divided into two terms, Martinmas and Candlemas. In term time, over one-third of the town's population is either a staff member or student of the university. The student body is notably diverse: over 120 nationalities are represented with over 45% of its intake from countries outside the UK; about one-eighth of the students are from the rest of the EU and the remaining third are from overseas — 15% from North America alone. The university's sport teams compete in BUCS competitions, and the student body is known for preserving ancient traditions such as Raisin Weekend, May Dip, and the wearing of distinctive academic dress.
Andrews may refer to:
A university (Latin: universitas, "a whole") is an institution of higher (or tertiary) education and research which grants academic degrees in various subjects and typically provides undergraduate education and postgraduate education. The word "university" is derived from the Latin universitas magistrorum et scholarium, which roughly means "community of teachers and scholars."
The original Latin word "universitas" refers in general to "a number of persons associated into one body, a society, company, community, guild, corporation, etc." At the time of the emergence of urban town life and medieval guilds, specialised "associations of students and teachers with collective legal rights usually guaranteed by charters issued by princes, prelates, or the towns in which they were located" came to be denominated by this general term. Like other guilds, they were self-regulating and determined the qualifications of their members.
In modern usage the word has come to mean "An institution of higher education offering tuition in mainly non-vocational subjects and typically having the power to confer degrees," with the earlier emphasis on its corporate organization considered as applying historically to Medieval universities.
The Cathedral of St Andrew (often referred to as St Andrews Cathedral) is a ruined Roman Catholic cathedral in St Andrews, Fife, Scotland. It was built in 1158 and became the centre of the Medieval Catholic Church in Scotland as the seat of the Archdiocese of St Andrews and the Bishops and Archbishops of St Andrews. It fell into disuse and ruin after Catholic mass was outlawed during the 16th-century Scottish Reformation. It is currently a monument in the custody of Historic Scotland. The ruins indicate that the building was approximately 119m (391 feet) long, and is the largest church to have been built in Scotland.
The cathedral was founded to supply more accommodation than the older church of St. Regulus (St. Rule) afforded. This older church, located on what became the cathedral grounds, had been built in the Romanesque style. Today, there remains the square tower, 33 metres (108 feet) high, and the quire, of very diminutive proportions. On a plan of the town from about 1530, a chancel appears, and seals affixed to the city and college charters bear representations of other buildings attached. To the east is an even older religious site, the Church of St Mary on the Rock, the Culdee house that became a Collegiate Church.

On a chilly day in early 2010, over 75 students from different walks of life at the University of St Andrews came together to make a LipDub to the New Radicals 1999 hit, "You Get What You Give". As with all LipDub videos, the music video is recorded all in one take, with careful coordination between all of the students to ensure a fluid, exciting video. The video took just over a month to organize and shoot, and it truly was a group effort led by Laura Fisher, along with cooperation from the University administration, buildings and grounds, athletic union, student support services, students union, and many more divisions on campus. Fuller Seminary Northern California hosts Rt. Rev. Dr. N. T. Wright, research professor of New Testament and early Christianity at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. He was previously the Bishop of Durham, and has taught New Testament Studies at Oxford, Cambridge and McGill Universities. Dr. Wright shares insights into why the church has embraced an "either/or" mentality regarding the message of salvation rather than embracing the work of making the world a better place. He provides practical ideas on how to adopt a "both/and" approach to believing and doing. For more information visit fuller.edu.

(Spoken) Speak the truth and speak 'ever
Cost it what it will
For he who hide the wrong he did
Did the wrong thing still
Come back sweet St. Anne, come love me again
Cause I'm broke again, broke, broke
Yeh I'm broke again, broke, broke
And down on St. Andrew
I'll buy it back from you
But you ain't no lover, lover, lover
No, no your just a pusher, pusher, pushing, pushing
I've been down to St. Andrew
To pay for my sins on you
Love come save me
Love come save me soon
Now I've sung midnight choirs
With beatsets, drunks and liars but there's never fighting, fighting, fighting
No never got higher, higher, higher
So long since I walked a road
Amongst these midnight souls
They were only stealing, stealing, stealing
Yeah we're stealing for feeling, feeling, feeling
I've been down to St. Andrew
To pay for my sins on you
Love come save me, love come save me soon
Yeah love come save me soon
Love come save me soon
Yeah love come save me
Love come save me soon
One day my time will end
And who I've been I've been
And bells they are ringing, ringing, ringing
Yeah the band it is marching, marching, marching, marching
I've been down to St. Andrew
To pay for my sins on you
Love come save me
Love come save me soon
Yeah love come save me soon
Yeah love come save me soon
Yeah love come save me
