Chris Anderson (born 1957) is a British entrepreneur and the curator of TED, the non-profit dedicated to ideas worth spreading, which hosts an annual conference in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and an open-access website where TED Talks lecture videos can be viewed for free by the public. Previously he founded Future Publishing.
Anderson was born in a remote village in Pakistan in 1957. His parents were medical missionaries, and he spent most of his early life in Pakistan, India and Afghanistan. He studied at the Woodstock School in the Himalayan mountains of India, before moving to a boarding school in Bath, England.
At Oxford University, he studied physics, then changed to politics, philosophy and economics, to eventually graduate with a degree in philosophy in 1978.
Anderson began a career in journalism, working on local newspapers, then producing a world news service in the Seychelles.

Plot: In this comedy of errors, Vivek Kharbanda is a U.S. Real Estate Tycoon who remains fiercely proud of his Indian heritage. But this pride goes hand-in-hand with his resentment of the British and their two-hundred year rule over India. So when Vivek's daughter Vidhi becomes romantically involved with Harry William II, a Theater Major and descendant of British royalty, she lies and tells her father that her boyfriend is Indian. After countless frustrations over his idiotic but lovable Italian cook Friday, Vivek asks his daughter to send him a British butler to "finally put the British in their place." Vivek's request at first infuriates Harry, but to show-off his acting skills, Harry decides to play the role of butler in Vivek's home. Vidhi realizes that this zany idea might be the only way she can introduce her British boyfriend to her father, and the couple bets that if Harry can fool Vivek into thinking he is a real butler, Vidhi will finally accept how racist her father is. To satisfy Vivek's demands to meet Vidhi's new man, the two rope in Vidhi's meek gay best friend Praveen to pose as Vidhi's fictional Indian boyfriend. And while Vidhi, Harry and Praveen try to keep their stories straight, at Vivek's company a more sinister scheme is afoot, as trusted Vice-President Chris Anderson and his colleague Rachael plan to secretly take over Vivek's company. Will Vivek's anti-British attitude prove unbreakable, jeopardizing Vidhi's and Harry's relationship? Will Chris's and Rachael's plot against Vivek be discovered before it's too late? And will Friday finally follow an order correctly? Come see how spicy this tale gets!

Paris Dunn said she was 17 years old when she began messaging with someone who said he was basketball player Chris Andersen.
Shelly Chartier is a soft-spoken Canadian woman who seems so childlike at first that she looks more like a teenager than someone in their 30s. The 33-year-old lived an isolated life for years caring for her invalid mother inside their small home in the tiny town of Easterville, located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. She only has a 6th grade education and had no contact with the outside world except for a computer and an internet connection. Given her seemingly simple and very quiet life, it’s hard to imagine that Chartier was the mastermind behind a massive “catfishing” scheme that launched an international criminal investigation and, authorities say, almost ruined the career of an NBA star, terrorized an aspiring model in Los Angeles and manipulated several other victims. “She t...

It's our second show for Drone Week & the launch of the "Inside Drones" podcast! Chris Anderson, former "Wired" Editor-in-Chief turned CEO/Founder of 3DRobotics (3DR) invites Jason to Berkeley, CA, to talk & fly the hottest drones. It's an amazing conversation where Chris explains his journey from "Wired" to becoming obsessed with drones after building one out of legos with his kids, to starting an open source drone community, to building 3DR -- the biggest drone maker in America. Jason and Chris dive into the history of how this incredible technology came to be, exactly how drones are bound (or not bound) by the laws of physics and/or government, and what we can expect (dream!) for the future. We see some of Chris's greatest hits, upcoming releases ... and watch Jason and Chris fly them o...
About this presentation In this talk, 3D Robotics founder Chris Anderson shares three lessons he learned transitioning from Wired Magazine editor to helming a 275-person drone company. From "paying" his children in juice for assembling the early prototypes to building a massive factory in Mexico, Anderson's journey was random and often accidental. But thanks to some healthy ignorance, open source technology, and some rising tech trends, Anderson's new venture is a successful one, boasting over 100,000 customers. The key for building a company, he says, is to not wait. Ride the tides of community and macro trends, and keep iterating.
