Max Richter (born 22 March 1966) is a German-born British composer who has been an influential voice in post-minimalist composition and in the meeting of contemporary classical and alternative popular musical styles since the early 2000s. Richter is classically trained, having graduated in composition from the Royal Academy of Music and studied with Luciano Berio in Italy, and is also strongly influenced by punk and electronic music.
Richter is known for his prolific output, composing and recording his own music; writing for stage, opera, ballet and screen; producing and collaborating on the records of others; and collaborating with performance, installation and media artists. He has recorded seven solo albums and his music is widely used in cinema.
Richter grew up in the United Kingdom in the county town of Bedford where he was educated at Bedford Modern School. After school he studied composition and piano at the University of Edinburgh, the Royal Academy of Music, and with Luciano Berio in Florence. After finishing his studies, Richter co-founded the contemporary classical ensemble Piano Circus. He stayed with the group for ten years, commissioning and performing works by minimalist musicians such as Arvo Pärt, Brian Eno, Philip Glass, Julia Wolfe, and Steve Reich. The ensemble was signed to Decca/Argo, producing five albums.

Deutsche Grammophon is a German classical record label that was the foundation of the future corporation to be known as PolyGram. It is now part of Universal Music Group (UMG) since its merger with the MCA family of labels in 1999. It is the oldest surviving established record company.
Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft was founded in 1898 by German-born United States citizen Emile Berliner as the German branch of his Berliner Gramophone Company. Berliner sent his nephew Joseph Sanders from America to set up operations. Based in the city of Hanover (the founder's birthplace), the company had links with the U.S. Victor Talking Machine Company and the British Gramophone Company, but those links were severed at the onset of World War I. Early labels bore the legend Grammophon and the painting "His Master's Voice" featuring the dog Nipper.
In 1941, Deutsche Grammophon was purchased by the Siemens & Halske electronics company.
In 1949, Deutsche Grammophon sold the German rights of the His Master's Voice trademark to the Electrola unit of EMI. The dog and gramophone were replaced by the crown of tulips, designed by Siemens advertising consultant Hans Domizlaff.

Acclaimed Britsh composer Max Richter has written a new landmark recording: SLEEP is 8 hours long – the equivalent of a night’s rest – and is actually and genuinely intended to send the listener to sleep. "It’s an eight-hour lullaby," says its composer, Max Richter. The ground-breaking new work is scored for piano, strings, electronics and vocals – but no words. "It’s my personal lullaby for a frenetic world," he says. "A manifesto for a slower pace of existence." The film "fragments of china" presents a few minutes the most beautiful moments I have lived in China for 10 days. I was mainly interested in filming the faces of the Chinese. I think they release some emotion that I can not explain, especially in children. . People create the customs of the place they live in, and with all these traditions you can see the country’s true nature. With this film, I wanted to convey the nostalgia I feel now. China is really a very beautiful country. For the news program "heute" (meaning "today") of the German federal broadcast channel ZDF the studio image, content and narrative style have all been thoroughly re-worked during an almost 3 year process. That includes classic elements such as the openers, information graphics, weather toolkits and virtual sets as well as a new information room that has been created in virtual reality and walk-in 3d models which can be explained live in the studio by the presenter. My main part in this process was to optimize and animate all weather pictograms (which were originally designed by agency eden & spiekermann, Berlin), to create the weather opening in the studio background which is created live in the studio; also I designed the keyvisuals/background animations for the weather, sports, Germany ...
The Weight of History. This experimental short was filmed in Florence, Italy. While traveling on honeymoon with my wife I was humbled by the abundance of historical artwork, architecture, and the religious presence within this city. There is a dark beauty there that is leveling to witness. What I hope to represent, is the humility experienced in the presence of such environments and our place within history. Our smallness in time, contrasting to the beauty of what we can create, that stands witness so many years after. Thanks to my wife for being sweet enough to let me film her throughout this incredible visit. I will never forget it. I would recommend watching with quality speakers or headphones, to fully appreciate the sound design. CREDITS: * DP, Edit, Color, Sound Design: BEN JA...

During the Séries Mania Convention held in Paris last April, Score It Magazine had the honour of speaking with Max Richter about his celestial score for The Leftovers, which majestically narrates the entire series, spanning across 28 episodes. Lauded as one of the most influential composer of his generation, Max Richter is a leading voice in post-minimalist composition. His genre-defying seven solo albums merge his formal classical training (Richter graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and was the pupil of renowned composer Luciano Berio) with modern technology. Over 50 films feature scores written by electro-acoustic polymath Richter, including Ari Folman’s multiple award-winning Waltz with Bashir (for which Richter was awarded the European Film Prize), Martin Scorsese’s Shutter I...

I was searching for a "Best of Max Richter" video on YouTube and didn't find such one so I decided to make it on my own. Max Richter for me is one of the most brilliant composers of our time, side by side with Hans Zimmer, Jóhann Jóhannsson, Harry Gregson-Williams and Tom Holkenborg. He is definitely one of my favorites and in this compilation, you'll understand why. Have a nice listening, I hope you'll like it. "A manifesto for a slower pace of existence." Antonio Lucio Vivaldi - The Four Seasons. Le Quattro Stagioni, Re-composition by Max Richter Daniel Hope, Violin. Conducted by André de Ridder, Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin. Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8BavtHkv00&t;=25s&list;=PL8_kq8-6nvDhSlPmOxiFU-yPFUVMs8hrD&index;=7 Antonio Vivaldi's Le Quattro Stagioni is one of the most beloved works in Baroque music, and even the most casual listener can recognize certain passages of "Spring" or "Winter" from frequent use in television commercials and films. Yet if these concertos have grown a little too familiar to experienced classical fans, Max Richter has disassembled them and fashioned a new composition from the deconstructed pieces. Using post-minimalist procedures to extract fertile fragments and resh...
